Mistborn Tarot (Critique and Discuss)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
Two of Spears: This card features the Lord Mistborn. He holds two Spears crossed before him below the number 2. This card represents Difficult Decisions, Impasse, Indecision, and Confusion. This card, like the Ace, is quite similar to its pre-Catacendre version. Indeed, the largest change is the replacement of a random female figure with the Lord Mistborn. The water was added later as well, likely to represent the canals he used to save Urteau. While some in the Basin have questioned the Lord Mistborn’s placement on this card, the decision was his and this card follows his personal design. -
Kelsier laughed quietly in her mind. Do you really think I’d risk opening myself to Sazed’s well-intentioned control? He only had two spikes, and only the one in his eye was permanent. The other was Vin’s old earring, retrieved from the caverns beneath Kredik Shaw. It wasn’t very useful as spikes went. Its charge had long since faded, and Kelsier had no need for the slight boost it could give his bronze. He was already strong enough to pierce any coppercloud. But it had been Vin’s and it reminded him of her. So he kept it.

Kelsier snorted, sitting down again. You’d be more believable if you weren’t trying to mimic me. ”Don’t try following me,” he said aloud, voice cold. “As for Marie: my agreement with Sazed was that he could observe during her probationary period, assuming she chooses to join me. After that, you don’t get to spy. And if you try, you’ll find yourself dead before long.” He smiled, and there was nothing but darkness in it. “Believe me, you wouldn’t be the first of his spies I’ve had killed.” Eryn smiled, as cold as her master. “Warned you. Does not like Ett’s spies. Likes Kandra spies less.”

Kelsier smirked coldly. “Kandra blessings make for fascinating study. I wonder what I could learn by melting one down.” He stood up, metals flairing to life within him. He flaired his brass, eye cold. Would you like me to make you pull them out? Or would you prefer to apologize for trespassing?

Guess That Cosmere Character! Forum Edition!

Kaladin (lacks happiness) -
Kelsier shrugged, then pulled lightly at one of her spikes. “I suppose I’ll just leave you a Mistwraith then.” ”Not joking,” Eryn noted. “Does not like Kandra much.” It’s that incomprehensible? Kelsier sent, amused. Good to know. Spend enough time with me and you should be able to parse it out. You pronounce the vowels and syllables more strongly, probably due to the large number of Northern and Terris Originators. Spook being Eastern likely played a role too. Western and Central Dominance tended to slur the words more.

Oh, right. That was really confusing. Does having been an Avatar make him a Sliver of Autonomy? Brandon keeps RAFOing it.
-
“Vaallal,” Kelsier drawled, in a perfect High Noble Luthadel accent with a faint underlay of Western Dominance. “Try it and I’ll drop you in acid. And her name is Marie.”

Didn’t Hallandren demand the border with Scadrial be shut as a result? Something about killing their gods... He also held Preservation on its own in SH. And I think he may have held Autonomy and Ambition at different points, too.
-
Kelsier raised a brow. “You’re not the Kandra that was here earlier. Saze decide one wasn’t enough? Remind me to have words with him regarding his servants in my churches.” Not that he minded, exactly. But it would be nice if Saze asked. Eryn’s eyes narrowed as she scanned the new comer. “Good jump.” @mathiau @Blessing of Potency

I’m pretty sure he’s held more over the course of this thread. Yeah, that was a really nifty trick. Especially since with the Stormfather dead there isn’t any more Stormlight. Although Sja-Anat as the Stormmother has promised to work on it.
-
I honestly felt really sorry for Warbreaker. All those times we joked about him being Nightblood’s parent... and it turns out he doesn’t have the FIRST CLUE about parenting. Thank the Shards for Vivenna, right?
-
Kelsier smirked. “But I didn’t ask about right or wrong people. I asked if you can if no crime was committed. Such as in this situation.”

No, he’s trying to become a Sliver of Adonalsium by holding every Shard once. He made it very clear that he doesn’t want to be god, because it’s “a really dull job and the perks aren’t worth the hassle.” And we found out after Hoid became Adonalsium that you can’t put it down like a regular Shard. That’s when Kelsier punched him. And, yeah. Crazy about Nightblood. Especially the par where Hoid-as-Adonalsium changed him into a real kid, but one who still eats Investiture! Like a human-shaped Larkin. It was really sad when he went to Warbreaker and asked, “Where’s mommy, daddy?” Poor little sword-boy...

Kelsier chuckled. “Fair. But was I asking about you, not other would-be law men.”

Just how many Shards has Kelsier held and given up at this point? It’s getting really hard to keep track... I’m glad Brandon finally canonized that he’s doing it for the challenge, not the power. Because those debates were getting tedious. ”Gotta hold the all!” though? Really? I would have preferred a more subtle Pokémon reference...
-
“Sovereign as responsible as Marie,” Eryn noted. “Not just to arrest her and not Sovereign.” ”Can you arrest someone if a crime wasn’t committed,” Kelsier wondered idly, rolling a coin over and under his fingers.

Why are you really angry at me Drae? Why do you prefer a dead god to a live one? You claimed to follow me when you thought I didn’t exist, but now that you know otherwise you lash out. I’m not the one who caused your friendship to fall apart. I’m not the one who fled when your friends were taken. I am not responsible for your choices. So tell me Drae, who are you truly angry at? Gently, Kelsier rioted the other man’s guilt, allowing the confidence he’d instilled to fade.

Mistborn Tarot (Critique and Discuss)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Kingsdaughter613's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
Ace of Spears: The Ace of Spears displays a single spear held in the hand of the Survivor. The card’s number (1) is in the lower right of the image. As is typical of the suit of Spears, the spikes are rendered as the symbol of the deck. This card represents Breakthroughs, New Ideas, Mental Clarity and Success. Final Empire versions of this card were rather similar to the current version, with a few exceptions. The hand holding the spear did not belong to anyone in particular prior to the Survivor’s death. The change occurred within the next year. Following the Catacendre the lower half of the card was given a blue background, symbolizing the restored blue skies. Similarly, the vines hanging from the crown were changed to be green and marewill flowers added. These changes are rather minor, however. Of all the Final Empire cards, the Ace of Spears is one of the few still in common use. -
Agreed. If there was an object of power on Scadrial, Kelsier would find it.
-
It’s not quite Shardblade level though... The question is, how powerful is their creator? I wouldn’t put it past Kell to have tracked down Leras’ weapon... Speaking of the Survivor, here’s the 5 of Spears. It symbolizes Winning at All Costs. Fitting, I think.

Apparently Brandon’s practicing in case he has to finish Winds of Winter.
