The implication was evident enough that several people who only read Era 1 got spoiled regarding Kell’s survival from this book. I doubt Brandon would be willing to take that surprise from his new fans just to troll his old ones. He’s too nice - and “Lord of Scars” was a bit too blatant.

Hoid would know the GBs are run by Kell. Thing is, Hoid knew Kell when he was just an ordinary thief. I think Hoid is underestimating Kell and doesn’t take this 300 year old CS seriously enough.

Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just to throw this out there: Be that as it may,” Kelsier replied, “I think you underestimate my ability to make a complete nuisance of myself. I promise you, I can draw this out. Hell, I’ll bet I could turn this conversation of ours into at least a novella. Maybe a six-part epic.” Brandon had written WoK when he wrote this, which means he knew who Thaidakar was. Considering how many other spoilers he threw into this thing... I mean, we got the spikes and the novella. We still need that epic... Also, that cage fight is still one of the funniest things Brandon has written. @Oltux72 Except that the real evidence is that Brandon isn’t the sort to play nasty tricks on readers. He would have used vaguer hints if he was trying to fake us out. This hint is so blatant it has spoiled Kelsier’s survival for some newer Mistborn readers. I doubt he would steal that surprise if it wasn’t real. It’s not his style. He’s not going to spoil things for his newer readers just to troll older readers. -
Since Mercy may be the Shard of Euthanasia, that might not be a good idea...

I suspect that’s literally the opposite of what the GBs want. I also wonder if they don’t consider Cultivation the graver threat.

Valor for the Dark One. The whole concept is about an eternal, narrative driven war centered on two heroes. Invention for the Rithmatist. Mercy for Anguish and Odium’s ally. Whimsy is probably Kite Magic. Prudence/Wisdom just wants to hide and survive (or used to). Judgement/Knowledge/Industry would probably be the Silverlight Shard. Which leaves Mercy for the Aethers, unless Prudence/Wisdom has Invested on a world.

Shards composition (Dawnshard spoilers)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to 2xMachina's topic in Cosmere Discussion
My chart, utilizing my theory that Scadrial reflects the post-shattering nature of the Cosmere in a way other worlds don’t due to being created after. Change-Temporal External forces - Ruin & Cultivation Internal forces - Odium & Whimsy Also, going clockwise the chart should read: Odium, Whimsy, Ruin, Cultivation (it’s not written that way, but it should be.) Unity - Spiritual External forces - Dominion and either Judgement or Knowledge Internal forces - Devotion and Honor Chart should read: Judgement/Knowledge, Dominion, Honor, Devotion. This puts Judgement/Knowledge near Cultivation. Survive - Physical External forces - Preservation and Invention Internal forces - Mercy and Prudence Should be read: Mercy, Prudence, Invention, Preservation (so Mercy is next to Devotion) Inspire - Cognitive External forces - Autonomy and Endowment Internal forces - Ambition and Valor Should be read: Endowment, Autonomy, Valor, Ambition (Endowment being near Preservation and Ambition next to Odium) I’m going to draw up a clearer chart. Edit: There! Done! I also have an alternative chart where the missing Shard is Industry. On that chart Industry takes Endowment’s place, Endowment goes in Unity near Cultivation, and Preservation and Invention swap places. -
Musicspren for Willshapers has been theorized, I believe.

Preservation’s color is White and Ruin’s is Black. The Mist is analogous to Stormlight, with both being the ‘gaseous’ form of Investiture.- 47 replies

My theory holds that he is actively controlling the Kandra using Soothing/Rioting + strong Connection to his old skeleton. So Avatar would actually be the appropriate term; it’s literally a body that he’s controlling from a distance that speaks and acts for him.

I suspect the process is unconscious and automatic. It’s not like that little girl was choosing to store her memory there. Breath becomes part of the Soul, which is formed of Spiritual Connection. The memories exist in the mind and the Breath simultaneously and altering one alters the other. When you use Breath, you keep one copy and the Breath loses its copy. When you retrieve your Breath it reconnects to the memories it was severed from.

Just to note: in Judaism killing Sadeas would not only have been okay - it would have fulfilled a positive commandment! “If someone is coming to kill you, kill him first.” (B. Sanhedrin, 72a) Different cultures have VERY different opinions on what is honorable.

Honor to the Sergeant. Beloved by all, in remembrance raised. Raised in remembrance, by all beloved. Sergeant to Honor. Kavod la Semel. Ahuv la kol, b’zichrono yisromam. Yisromam b’zichrono, la kol ohuv. Semel la Kavod. Alethi is a Semitic language, so I decided to do the ketek in Hebrew too. Bonus: Semel means both Sergeant and symbol in modern Hebrew. Inspired by @Karger I loved your ketek so much I had to write my own.

While I wouldn’t be surprised if Shallan does visit Scadrial at some point, I doubt she’ll be able to completely eradicate the GBs. Mostly due to Thaidakar (probably) slated to be important in a series set around a century after SA.

Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Surprisingly not. The Thaidakar is Kelsier theory has been around for a long time and has been in multiple thread titles. It just happens to be a little more accurate than we expected. -
Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Alomancers can control Kandra, potentially over some distance. TLR controlled Koloss all the way at the edges of his empire. And Kell has access to Feruchemy, allowing him to manipulate Investiture. It’s still not him though. He’d be controlling the Kandra, but it isn’t the same as him being there. And I think the Connection would fray over distance and take some effort to maintain. -
Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That is brilliant. The Oathpact. How was Kell initially preserved? By making him part of Ruin’s prison. What is Kell that no other CS we’ve seen has been? A Sliver. How do the Heralds retain their existence? Through the Oathpact. Kell doesn’t need to escape Scadrial’s Connection; he needs to figure out how to persist if he interferes with the very Investiture that’s essential to his existence! I doubt it’s very easy to maintain the Connection over such a distance. I feel he’d need to go fairly close to the border to use this method. And I doubt Roshar is the only place he’s keeping an eye on. -
Thaidakar the Knowledge and Possibilities
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Karger's topic in Cosmere Discussion
A variant: Kell is speaking through/controlling a Kandra using his bones. He’d be very Connected to his own skeleton, and he’s a powerful enough Alomancer to control a Kandra. -
Hel, Hell, Hela, etc. was an ancient Norse deity. There’s no reason there should be a Hell of any kind in any universe where Earth doesn’t exist. It was probably supposed to be ‘Damnation’ and is a typo.

I think Cultivation is the real villain of SA. Everyone else is dancing to her tone.
-
Which is odd, as the GBs seem to be run by a Scadrian and tOA are suspected to be Scadrians.

That’s my opinion as well.

Dominion can be very honorable. It depends on your culture.
