  1. No, the Kickstarter is over. But there should be another eventually.
  2. This appears to be more of a Cold War than anything, which also explains why the Scadrians want First of the Sun. It’s not about anything the planet can offer - it’s to prevent the other side from obtaining it. The Aviar are an excuse to establish a foothold.
  3. That is an excellent point. I hadn’t thought of that.
  4. What mistake? I think Cultivation is the big bad of the series.
  5. Yup. Also possibly: I’m trying to find someone to get Kelsier to stop interfering with your planet, so don’t worry. Because Hoid totally complained about that.
  6. Congrats! You solved the mystery! Unfortunately, we can no longer theorize on this subject... Sniff!
  7. He’s talking about Wax. At this point he’s sent Palm to Wax, and is actively working to groom Wax into his sword.
  8. Yeah, my ‘spellwrong’ keeps capitalizing the word. Probably because I’m also into Avatar: The Last Airbender, so I usually have the word capitalized.
  9. This is cool. I put Ruin in the Temporal quadrant of my Shards chart and Preservation in the Physical, so that matches nicely! So on my chart Autonomy is in the Cognitive quadrant, so it’s secondary would be either Physical or Temporal.
  10. They’re not directly opposite because both are external and one pulls while the other pushes. I’m considering swapping Preservation and Invention, though both R & P will still be external. Vin says the power is calling to her, so it can be argued Preservation Pulls, instead of Pushes. WoB is that the Shards were essentially equal at the time they split off. This is no longer true, but it used to be. So this is based off how they began.
  11. True, but he is sustained by Saze’s Investiture. Which mean Saze probably could kill him if it was absolutely necessary.
  12. The Horneater seem to have some sort of silence rule. As for Felt: he emigrated a long time ago. He probably sees himself as Rosharan to an extent. He has a family. The last thing he wants is to be thrust into the spotlight - and if he knows/suspects who leads the GBs, he may be concerned at having to choose between his homeworld and his new one. He was also present when Kell died and the night of the revolt. For all we know, he may have a personal loyalty to him. Also, I doubt he sees the Ruin situation as comforting. 90% of the planet’s population got wiped out. Not to mention that it took another Shard to defeat him. I suspect he may be the one to inform Shallan that she essentially declared war on another planet though... “Well, you see, Thaidakar is THE most worshipped religious figure on our planet. You basically just declared war with our god... and ALL of his followers.”
  13. Saze CHOSE not to intervene, because of his beliefs. That’s what Marsh says. Kell would have no issue with Saze telling him ‘here is how you keep yourself sane.’ I said briefly. Just like Saze can hold back a Kandra, I think he can temporarily cut Kell off from alomancy. Particularly since he’d be Ruining Kell’s connection to Preservation but also be doing it to Preserve Kell - and everyone else! I doubt Saze would have an issue reclaiming his Investiture. His Ruin half would be fine with it, and Preservation never liked being attached to Kell anyway. Saze would also be reuniting the power, which is naturally drawn to itself. He’d also be Preserving the ‘real’ Kell, as Saze DOES believe there is something Beyond. Harmony would want to maintain equilibrium. Kell upsets equilibriums by existing. Harmony does not like Kelsier. Sazed does. I think they’d both be okay with this.
  14. The much longer, extensive and complicated discussion had several alternatives to Inspire. These included Will and Drive, among other synonyms. Inspire ended up being the best sounding Command, but in the sense of ‘Inspire to act’ as opposed to ‘be an Inspiration.’ Perhaps a better term would be Aspire? Hmm... I think I may go with that...
  15. He was understanding and accepting. No sense of anger was described.
  16. I think the Shards form a double rainbow, one black- color and one white-color, with Ruin and Preservation at either end as black and white. We do know R&P are black and white.
  17. But he wasn’t. He was resigned and understanding and not angry at all.
  18. Harmony can do somethings. He could try to find an answer to the dilemma. If he can’t find something that works, and Kell really starts losing it, he could probably block Kell’s Alomancy long enough for Marsh to contain his little brother. Marsh would keep watch over Kell until a solution is found. If all else fails Harmony could probably reclaim his Investiture from Kell in its entirety, forcing the latter to the Beyond. Saze wouldn’t want to, but I think Kell would prefer that death to losing himself and Saze would know that.
  19. Kell actually has two - and I suspect that’s his real problem right now.
  20. I think the Shards form a double rainbow with Ruin and Preservation at opposite ends. Ruin - black Odium - violet black (Edgli) ? - indigo black ? - blue black ? - green black ? - yellow black ? - orange black ? - red black Harmony? ? - red white ? - orange white ? - yellow white Cultivation - Green white Honor - blue white (Edgli) ? - Indigo white ? - Violet white Preservation - White This gives us 16, btw, explaining how each Shard can be associated with a color of the rainbow. And I think Endowment is Indigo.
  21. Mercy is trying to Eurhanize the Cosmere. Life is hard, so better if everyone is dead, right? Alternatively, Mercy is trying to do something like Miranda, from Firefly. Because keeping people totally relaxed and helpless and peaceful is merciful.
  22. I love how we can now eliminate one entire threat just by recruiting one person: Vin. V: Kelsier, whatever you’re doing with these Ghostbloods, you’re going to stop and help me. Ghostbloods immediately join the Ascendant Warrior. (Kell does love his daughter.)
  23. It could also be a personal fantasy for him, which Jasnah is willing to indulge even if they both recognize it as that: fantasy. Or he could be hoping to find a way for her to enjoy the process too; he may feel guilty that she doesn’t (some partners do feel this way, when they know the other is not getting the same enjoyment as themselves). Or Jasnah could be misreading his intentions.
  24. I think he’s too young to be going insane under most circumstances, especially with him being a Sliver of Preservation and highly invested. However. I think having TWO competing mythologies centered on him may be giving him problems. Individually, at this early point, the effects on him are minor. The problem is that as he travels from one side of the planet to the other, how he is perceived changes drastically. He’s being torn between two competing perceptions of who he is, and that is a much more serious effect. I don’t think he’s actually going mad yet (I think Marsh and Harmony care enough to directly intervene if he were) but I think he’s very aware of the effects and is TERRIFIED at the thought of losing himself (who wouldn’t be?). And he may feel that he’ll be safer, or have more time to figure things out if he can get away from Scadrial. So yes, he’s genuinely afraid and increasingly desperate. He isn’t really going mad yet (not much more than he already WAS), but he can feel his soul fray every time he goes from North to South, and that has not had a great effect on his mental state. And a frightened, desperate Kelsier is a very dangerous thing. I may also love the irony of Kell having created his own storm with all those religions centered on himself.
