  1. YES!!!!!! I was seriously ready to just say ‘part of his name is an in-world letter.’ Your turn!
  2. Nope, because I’m Jewish and don’t celebrate it! Chanukah on the other hand: TPBM is still laughing over how Adam negated Brandon’s RAFO.
  3. This person has one sibling. This person is the younger sibling. Both siblings are male. Both siblings are parents This person betrayed his brother and was betrayed in turn. This character is a king. This character changed religions. This character has a daughter and a son. This character shares part of his name with his kingdom, his capitol, and his heir.
  4. I have three, so that’s a pretty fair guess! TPBM will go to the Cosmere Character game and try to guess the character. (I’m shocked no one’s guessed yet!)
  5. This person has one sibling. This person is the younger sibling. Both siblings are male. Both siblings are parents This person betrayed his brother and was betrayed in turn. 6. Just a preliminary observation: The people who answered the first day of the survey had higher scores on Investment in the Cosmere. This would indicate that the people who initially noticed the survey were those who were already into the book fandom. The scores on the second day average between high and mid-range on that question. So it is possible that those less invested only noticed the survey on the second day. I think you should have given the survey an extra day.
  7. Renarin/Rlain got Word of Adam confirmed. Basically, Brandon said we could probably guess who Renarin was crushing on and Adam said that people were guessing correctly. Then Brandon said there were probably a few guesses, at which point it hit Adam that there was only ONE guess. Which he’d just confirmed as correct. That guess being Rlain...
  8. It made asking questions a fun dance, lol! I just inserted Thaidakar into any question where I would have said Kelsier. Not that it mattered, as those weren’t asked. I may have to wait for the Alloy Leatherbound to ask. Though my husband suggested sending him a letter with my tarot cards. I REALLY want to know when Thaidakar became Kelsier. Because I don’t see how that could have been the plan in WoK.
  9. He basically confirmed it before we even started. He said that we should be careful to refer to characters by their SA names and specifically mentioned Thaidakar.
  10. As many as God gives me. I currently have 3. TPBM has kids.
  11. Channeled
  12. This character changes religions.
  13. Of course, what counts as Stormlight just got very interesting...
  14. Isn’t the livestream for SA related questions?
  15. It works. Goal.
  16. Nope. I prefer Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, the Nutcracker and the 1812 overture - with cannons, of course. TPBM thinks Shakespeare would be more interesting if teachers explained what was ‘really’ going on. (Ie. All the 1500s innuendo.)
  17. Dalinar says he can see the Oathpact, with one line broken. I don’t think he was seeing the Connection between the Heralds. And just to note: CCQ I just read Edgedancer. I was just wondering... Did Ishar deceive Nalan on purpose or was he just wrong-- he had wrong information? Brandon Sanderson All the Heralds are insane. CCQ Okay. Brandon Sanderson It manifests in different ways. Do not trust anything any Herald says. Ever. I generally take everything Heralds say with a pound of salt. Something else I noticed: Kaladin and Szeth are going to Shin-Kak-Nish. Kak - 8 is the number associated with Kalak. There is something going on with this character.
  18. Not sure if this is a typo or foreshadowing: Location 12211 to 12223 Dalinar stepped forward, walking among his stunnedbodyguards, noting eight lines of light extending from Nale into the distance. Then later: “No, only one line of it is completely broken. The rest are there, but weak, impotent.” Dalinar pointed to one line, bright and powerful. “Except one. Still vibrant.” If the broken line is Jezrian’s then Dalinar saw nine lines. Or it could be foreshadowing one of the Heralds breaking completely from the Oathpact. I figured I’d point it out on the off chance it wasn’t intentional.
  19. We should ask. Because this exactly the kind of subtle hint Brandon would use, but it could be a mistake. (I miss Moshe.) Maybe put it in the typos thread and see if we get answered? Edit: I added it to the typos thread. I’ll also put the quotes here; I don’t think it’s an error. “Dalinar stepped forward, walking among his stunnedbodyguards, noting eight lines of light extending from Nale into the distance.” A few sentences later: “No, only one line of it is completely broken. The rest are there, but weak, impotent.” Dalinar pointed to one line, bright and powerful. “Except one. Still vibrant.”
  20. I suspect the Hemalurgic spike is doing EXACTLY what Ishar is doing: giving Kelsier a Connection to the Physical Realm. A new string. With that he can just manifest fully in the physical realm. The only thing Ishar could do different would be to allow Kell to manifest physically with two eyes.
  21. The opposite is life, I presume? Change.
  22. Not particularly. TPBM prefers Godiva to Hershey.
  23. I’m of the opinion Kalak designed the dagger. He knew exactly how it worked - and that the intention was to capture Jezrian. None of the other Heralds knew that; they assumed the intention was to kill Jezrian and they had no idea how it had happened. Kalak, hidden away in Lasting Integrity knew how it happened, the weapon used, what the intention was, and why it went wrong. Strangely, he was missing the one piece of information every other Herald appears to have had - the party responsible. I find it unlikely that Kalak knew all of the above without knowing the responsible party. Which raises a new question: was a Kalak lying? And if so, why? I do think one of the Heralds is a traitor. Sense tells me it’s one of the five we’ve had some dealings with, and also one of the five that represents the first-half orders. Process of elimination tells me that it’s either Ash or Kalak. Kalak also gives us some poetry in being the reverse of Venli; she move from Odium to Honor while he would have done the opposite. We could get this with Ash too though; her own hidden sins coming to light as Shallan’s are. Also, both Ash and Kalak have a major character named for them: Shallan for Shalash and Kaladin for Kalak. And both Heralds have perfectly symmetrical names. Although I actually thought it was Ishar until we saw how insane he was. Now I’m thinking he was a red herring, but I’m going to watch him closely anyway.
  24. Brandon has said that Era4 will be a clash of cultures. We now know that this will probably involve a Rosharan/Scadrian conflict. And in RoW we’ve seen what may well be its beginnings. So this is what I think will be the heart of the Scadrian/Rosharan conflict. Scadrial is society created by thieves. They revere a conman, Kelsier and venerate am assassin, Vin. They naturally seek the mists, which actively work to conceal Allomancers. They are a society naturally drawn to the shadows. Fighting fair is NOT how they operate. Roshar is the opposite. Knights in literal shining armor, bound to honor codes. The most duplicitous of the Orders revolves around Truths. They’re practically designed for a straightforward fight; you can’t hide if you glow in the dark! I can’t imagine why the Rogue planet doesn’t get along with the Paladin planet... Chaotic Good/Neutral vs. Lawful Good/Neutral... We can see this with the Ghostbloods, which we now know are run by Kelsier. As I’ve pointed out on other threads, they’re on the same side as the coalition - quietly. They want Dalinar to win. But the way they’re doing it (leaving aside the actions of individuals) is not a method most Radiants could approve of. But it gets better. Scadrial is the world most like Earth. It utilizes mechanical industry and the metallic arts. It’s the type of industry that, as we know, can easily scour the land. On top of which, the allomantic and feruchemical arts are internal and intrinsic. And those two combined allow for fairly easy sharing of powers. And then there’s Hemalurgy. The ability to steal any power with the proper training - so long as you’re willing to kill. On Roshar, in contrast, industry is almost entirely Investiture based. And we now know that fabriels can be created by Spren, without needing to harvest resources. On Roshar, industry may very well follow a more symbiotic path; note that much of their nature and their major investiture system is all about symbiosis. The powers so granted, however, are not easily transferred. And while Bondsmiths can more easily manipulate Connection, there are some fairly strict limits (including an inability to travel). Hemalurgy lacks those constraints, being limited only by knowledge and morality. And there are no Oaths to enforce the latter. And what is the Shard of Scadrial? Harmony. What is the hypothesized union of the three Rosharan Shards? Conquest. Honestly, when you look at it, it makes a lot of sense that these two would end up conflicting. The natures of the worlds are inherently opposed.
