Yeah, so... That was Kell at the ends of BoM. He’s the Sovereign. So that’s not a spoiler (as you read the pertinent material) but a clarification.
-
For some reason I imagine it as a bunch of overlapping, interconnected spiderwebs, that vaguely form something like a molecular crystal matrix...

Bands of Mourning...? You did say you read all of Mistborn. Generally speaking that includes Era 1, SH and Era 2. If you haven’t read all of the above you should tell us, so we know not to tell you. But if you don’t want to know more, stay away from any discussions involving Thaidakar and the Ghostbloods. Also any discussions involving Shards, Cognitive Shadows, Elantrians, and... You know what? You might be better off avoiding the boards entirely until you’re caught up. Also, Warbreaker will probably be spoiled for you if you stay in this area. @Lunu'anaki

Eryn shook her head, heading toward the front of the temple. She took a small piece of paper and scribbled a symbol on it, then left it at the feet of the Sovereign’s statue. Then she sat in the pews and waited, watching the priests go about their work. “We wait,” she told Drae. “Someone come. Another servant of Sovereign.” She paused. “Survivor. Should remember here.”

Huh? Kelsier dies, becomes a ghost, and then somehow ends up in charge of the mafia - I mean the Ghostbloods. So you shouldn’t need anything but Mistborn and Stormlight.

“Thought maybe movement. Nothing now.” She paused briefly near the temple, before heading up to the doors. She lightly brushed the tips of her gloves fingers against the delicate blue flowers growing alongside the walkway. ”Sovereign like these,” she noted. “Brought us some. Grow in many places now.”

Eryn nodded in affirmation, walking briskly toward the temple. She would need to find another of the Sovereign’s people there, but they had ways of finding one another. Looking up, for a moment she thought she saw a flicker of motion, a puff of mist, gone too quickly to be certain. Had she not been trained as a Hunter she might not have noticed at all.

Thaidakar - Deity of the Ghostbloods?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I mean, we have a WoB that indicates he’s a terrible administrator. We also have a great deal of textual evidence from TFE indicating the same. I... honestly have no idea how he managed to rule the South. I get the feeling it was very much a ‘benign neglect’ type situation. The thing is, Kelsier tends to have good instincts when picking people to do tasks. He made only one real mistake in TFE (aside from Yeden): Ham wasn’t cut out for generalship. I suspect he did the same in the South, choosing leaders who could do what Kelsier doesn’t - administrate the day to day. This falls apart very quickly once Kelsier cant be directly involved though. His laissez faire type leadership doesn’t work once his organization gets to big. If he was anyone else, the Ghostbloods would have collapsed after a point. But he’s Kelsier. Normal rules don’t apply. He creates cults of personality. He almost has to - the only reason his crews work is due to intense personal loyalty to him. Because, when you come right down to it, he’s a terrible leader. He can’t administrate. He doesn’t believe in oversight. Logistics are things other people do. Budgets? What’s a budget? Kelsier’s just really, really good at getting people to listen to him. He’s a natural cult leader, creating them even when he probably doesn’t intend to. People LIKE to do what Kelsier wants, and it’s the only way he knows to get things done when he can’t do it himself. Which... honestly explains a lot, when you think about it. -
Eryn shot him a blank look. “Told you. If the metal-eyed one wanted to kill, outside not help. ”We are going to town’s Sovereign temple. Have something for him. Coming?”

I’m Kaladin. (In dark, grim tones.)

Which part? Dying, becoming a ghost, or returning to life as an inter-Cosmere crime lord?
-
Eryn nodded, hoisting her pack and heading toward the door. “You,” she called to the scholar, “coming?”

Thaidakar - Deity of the Ghostbloods?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Considering his history and how he has run crews in the past, he likely gives orders to his ‘board’, then lets them figure out how they want to get the job done. ‘Board’ members then instruct ‘regional managers’, who inform the regular managers, who inform their employees. Thaidakar sets policy, but I don’t think he sets any rules on how it is to be carried out. Instead he assumes that people will do things the way he wants and in a manner he approves of. Which, of course, they don’t. -
What would you want Way of Kings to be adapted into?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to therosharian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I want this so badly. Imagine: You pick from one of three major planets: Nalthis Roshar Scadrial Then: N- human or Returned R - Human or Singer S - human or Koloss blood Then you pick religion/culture and nationality: N - Austre, Iridescent Tones, the Pahn Kahl religion (I forgot what it’s called). R - Nationality (Ie. Alethi, Herdazian) and religion. If a Singer, you can choose to be a Listener. S - North or South Scadrian and religious background. You can also choose the Koloss culture. Then you design a character, with certain options locked depending on your choices. Each world will have a different variation. For Nalthis, you get asked a series of questions designed to create your background. All Nalthians begin with one Breath (or Divine Breath.) You can gain more throughout the initial storyline - or just buy more if you have enough money. Rosharans get a similar quiz, but with a focus on personality. This influences which Spren/orders will initially be interested in you, though your choices in the initial storyline also have significant interest. Scadrians get a similar quiz to Nalthians. Depending on their background they can then get the option to have a Feruchemical power, an allomantic power, or one of each or none. South Scadrians are more likely to get none, but they also start out with medallion access. Koloss bloods are less likely to get powers, but start out with extra strength, health, etc. Powers are assigned randomly, with the exception of A-Duralumin (which is only given to twinborn). Medallion tech allows Scadrians to gain other powers. You begin in a major city on each planet: N - Hallandren R - Urithiru S - Elendel And proceed from there, with your story shaped by your unique background and abilities. There are also several world hopper groups around that your character can join. Which ones are available will vary depending on the world. Certain groups will be easier to join on specific planets. There are other ways to learn about the Cosmere too. Khriss, Nazh, and Hoid will be quest givers on all the worlds. Completing quests for them can reveal the Cosmere. Once your character learns to Worldhop they will be able to travel to different Cosmere worlds. First of the Sun will be where you go for legendary monster battles. -
It seemed the assassin had passed out again, and Eryn doubted he would tell them more. With a faint sigh she walked over and tore the second spike out of the man’s shoulder. ”In this town,” she asked, “there is Temple to Sovereign, ja? Maybe you,” she jabbed a finger at the man by the counter, the one who worshiped the Sovereign, “can show me?” Hopefully she could get the full spike somewhere it could be stored before the power was lost.

Most dangerous character in the cosmere in a fight?

Good point. Thanks. -
Weird. Saze mentions Adonalsium. Has he read Secret History? If not, give him AU.

If Kelsier was Radiant, which order would he be?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Yvainnie's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Per the quiz he’d be a pretty bad Elsecaller, which makes sense. I don’t think Kelsier has heard of logic. The quiz puts that at third. Kell could do with mastering himself, so it would be a good order for him to be in. But I don’t think it’s an order he would normally end up in. Willshaper and Lightweaver are where he gets the highest marks, which makes sense. Willshapers tend to be explorers and free spirits. They also tend to the flamboyant. Kelsier loves to learn new things, traveled widely, and is extremely autonomous. He hates being controlled. And he’s definitely flamboyant, lol! Lightweavers... Well, they’re the natural home for a conman. And at his core that’s exactly what Kelsier is. Not to mention, he only really drops his mask four times throughout Mistborn. Once when Marsh dies, when he meets Drifter, when he faces Ruin the last time, and when he embraces Vin before she leaves. The truest Kelsier is the one we see smoldering after Marsh’s death. The one he keeps contained, because he knows how dangerous that part of him is. So the Lightweavers can definitely fit him. -
Not sure how gay Singer ships would work

I don’t suppose you know any people with opposing romantic and sexual attractions? Ie. homosexual/heteromantic or heterosexual/homoromantic? Because no one ever talks about it, even though it exists. -
Thanks!

A Kelsier and Dalinar comparison + some spite
Kingsdaughter613 replied to i’m in the details's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Actually, we don’t know that the Southerners worship him. They specifically note that he’s the NORTH’s god. They never acknowledge him as theirs. They think all metalborn are minor deities, and it’s unclear whether or not that belief predated Kell’s arrival - or is a result of a misunderstanding (possibly caused by language difficulties). Wax found bodies. He assumed they were the priests. He also assumed the Sovereign was the Lord Ruler. Considering the whole thing was a con, it’s entirely possible that those bodies were added for ‘decorative purposes’ using random dead people. While I do believe Kelsier had to kill someone to get that spike, I think Spook’s book implies a willing donor. They WERE looking at ethical hemalurgy, after all. The Ghostbloods are the crew. The crew also murdered people. Funny how this wasn’t an issue when we were on their side... We’ve seen the Ghostbloods try to assassinate Jasnah AFTER she tried to have them killed. That’s a pretty good reason to try and kill someone. They also tried to kill Amaram. And Restares/Kalak. And other SoH. In other words, most of the people we’ve seen them try to kill are enemies of our main characters, as the SoH have been until the end of RoW. We don’t know why they want to wipe out the SoH, but the SoH were trying to restore Desolations and the GBs silently back the coalition. So that may have something to do with it. The worst thing an individual GB has done is capture Lift and turn her over. And Mraize made sure Lift wouldn’t be killed when he did so, which is rather interesting. And if you plan to bring up Gerrah or the Carriage driver, you’re welcome to the question I plan to ask Brandon next time we have an AMA: In WoR Shallan finds her carriage driver dead and assumes the Ghostbloods killed him. In RoW Lift finds Gerrah dead and assumes Mraize killed him. Neither one witnessed the murders. Were the Ghostbloods actually responsible? There’s been a low key theme of Thaidakar being blamed for murders his people didn’t commit. Thaidakar is blamed by Gavilar, then by Amaram. If the GBs killed the driver and the steward, then why didn’t we see it? It’s very intentionally set up so we assume a culprit - but we never see the crime. (I have a crazy theory that Liss(Chana?) actually killed the driver (Fire makes sense for her) while operating on Jasnah’s orders to take out the Ghostbloods. And that the ‘chicken’ is a rogue Kandra (which is why Lift couldn’t heal the feathers) who killed Gerrah, then stole his Aviar’s body.)
