    What is the big deal about the kidnapped women being Spook’s descendants? Spook had like 13 kids; 350 years after the Catascande, considering the Founder Effect and small population size, half the Basin should be his descendants! Unless all his kids only had one child each for multiple generations, or something equally unlikely, there’s nothing special about those women at all. Any ideas on how to solve this conundrum? In other news, assuming TLR had his kids within the first few centuries of his reign and those kids married into the nobility, every member of Kelsier’s crew - with the exception of Sazed and, possibly, Dockson - is a descendant of Rashek. As are all the nobility. I wonder how he’d react to the news.

    Per Brandon Kell is lying through his teeth regarding a capital A avatar. He wants the GBs to think he has one though. (Also: the Seon-cloak thing is hysterical and I could so see him doing this.

    Yes, it was confirmed and it pre-exists RoW by a couple of years. It was discussed as a hypothetical and he said that it’s theoretically possible, but it would take a LOT of power. If anyone can manage it though, it’ll be a Fullborn.

    I never noticed it either. I did go “hey, these guys are the Mistborn crew! Is Kelsier their boss?” back in 2014 though... Still have no idea what exactly made me go there.

    I did manage to create a non-contradictory answer... with difficulty. Their father was an Obligator who killed their mother and himself. They were adopted and raised by noble relatives, and left once their adoptive parents died. Yes, a murder/suicide and giving them a second set of parents is literally the only way all the accounts add up to anything remotely plausible. Any additional words of Brandon will probably just make the above WORSE at this point... In other news, he created a non-canon WoB on the Shardcast. As in “this isn’t canon, because I’m going to try and come up with something better, but right now this is the idea in my head.” (Regarding Kelsier using a Seon and a cloak to con the GBs into thinking he has an avatar.)

    The Singers are descendants of the House of Feanaro? This explains a lot, actually... Too bad Venli didn’t learn her ancestors lessons about Kinslaying. On the other hand, no wonder gems capturing divine light are such a big deal on Roshar! The pale shadows of the Silmarilli - the true ‘perfect gemstones’ described in myth.

    @Ghanderflaffle Would it be okay if my last roast was very delayed? My grandmother died yesterday so I’m not really in a headspace where I can write it right now. I’ll try and get it up this week, once everything’s been a little more settled and I know if I’m going to be flying to Florida to help out my Mom while my Dad sits shiva. I’m really sorry about this, but the next few days are going to be crazy and, like I said, I’m not really in the right mind space to write a rap right now. Thanks for understanding.

    We basically got a WoB that this is the case to a large extent. Basically that the GBs around Kell, that he’s actively involved with, are very different than the ones on Roshar. Also that Mraize may not be doing what he’s told.

    In reference to the original topic here: apparently Kell has reasons for wanting the GBs to think he has an avatar... which he doesn’t have. He’s lying through his teeth. (And is non-canonically using a Seon and a cloak to pull it off.) Which I find both extremely funny and very telling. Also, apparently Mraize may not be obeying orders and Kell’s crew really doesn’t work that well when he’s not around. Brandon compared it to Tor and Tom Doherty. According to him Tom created this reward system that could have led to some nasty competition, but didn’t as long as Tom was around to coral everyone. But now that Tom is gone Tor has had to change things so things don’t become toxic. Rereading WoA, I can definitely see it. If it wasn’t for feeling responsible for the task Kelsier left them, the crew would have fallen apart. To a certain extent they were anyway. Vin not telling anyone about ‘OreSeur’ or the spy; Dox and Ham constantly at one another’s throats; even Saze choosing to act behind Vin and Elend’s backs. And that’s the core crew! The crew that knew one another before, that Kelsier handpicked. And they still began squabbling once Kelsier was gone. A lot of things about the GBs make sense in light of this. Also: Kudos to all of us who basically guessed at any of the above before Brandon confirmed it.
