Wow. That's a lot of dead people. Anyway. @Paranoid King I don't suppose you have a means to PM me? I think I can help you. @King Cole I'd also be very interested in getting contact with you. Peace out folks. I'll have more time for this later. I swear.

The cycle didn't end? Oh. Ummm I'd consider switching my vote, but I don't really see the case against Alv. I don't think possession of items is incriminating, since I started out with an (albeit pretty useless) item and I'm not evil

Long Game 38: In the beginning...
DrakeMarshall replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That sounds... Eerily similar to one of the game mechanics in one of my upcoming games. There are, admittedly, some pretty major differences, but still... I'm very interested to see how this one turns out.- 713 replies

Okay I gotta go, but: Tsundere? I mean, I'll let this go whatever way, and maybe it ends up there. But that's not actually why Aaliyah isn't trying to kill you. Nobody should kill somebody who saves their life, if they can help it. Such behavior discourages other people from doing so. Epics may be irrational about some things, but not self-preservation. "That's very nice, whoever you are. Now get out of my way." The ground opened up beneath Aaliyah. Well, a portal did, to be more specific. "How dare yo-" It was annoying, not being able to see that coming. No water in that sparking place. She landed in a safehouse, of sorts. "Well then." Hopefully she would have a suitable means of dealing with mister sword enthusiast, if they met again. But for now, she had an appointment to be at. The safehouse had a heavy looking door, with a latch and a padlock. A padlock? Seriously? That was lucky, though, seeing as she didn't know much about locks. She grabbed a screw from what looked like some kind of rudimentary workshop, and jammed it in the lock. It opened. She wandered out of the safehouse. Still in Mirialis, but she had no idea where. And, somehow in the last few hours, somebody had stolen her mobile. Ah well. She'd figure out where she was soon enough.

Long Game 38: In the beginning...
DrakeMarshall replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
People are still going to be claiming what they voted for, to avoid everybody voting for the same rule. Thought it'd be worth noting. That said, I really like the layout of this rule. I was very much thinking of LG30 when I said "what's so bad about 72 hour cycles" I find it curious that this would produce inactivity. I'll take your word for it, 'cuz you've probably seen 72 hour games other than LG30, but... 72 hour cycles doesn't inherently make there less things going on, nor in the grand scheme of things does it change the actual rate at which things happen. So I find this dynamic somewhat surprising. Also, LG33 had measures to encourage activity and RP, somewhat similar to LG30. All hail the gods of RNG.- 713 replies

DrakeMarshall replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hm, alright, interesting. Thanks folks. Just wondering about cycle structuring. If people feel strongly about the whole day/night thing, maybe I ought to make my games like so. 'Cuz the game should be about the players, even if personally I kind of don't like night cycles.- 713 replies

I mean. I am interested by the fact that there's a role that can obscure alignment flips. But I don't think her alignment is really a mystery. Do we have much cause to doubt her role claim, before she died?

"Sword-man," Aaliyah nodded in recognition. "Knew we'd meet again, ya slontze." "Seeing as you just accidentally saved my life, I suppose I don't really want to kill you. So... Congratulations?"

Yeah but... I feel like when you have night cycles, nothing really happens, in terms of discussion or activity. It's just a window to put in action orders that you decided on in the last day cycle.- 713 replies

Out of curiousity, for the sake of future games I will be running. What precisely is it that players prefer about 48 day, 24 night, as compared to straight 72 hour cycles? What precisely is it that players prefer about 48 day, 24 night, as compared to straight 72 hour cycles?- 713 replies

Roles are rules, so yes, you can create them. Also be very careful about creating post restrictions. Hmmm... Beginning of everything, you say? Ati. Best part is I even look like the description of Ati in the books.- 713 replies

Balelight spoke. "Now, would anyone care to tell me what, exactly, is going on here?" Aaliyah suddenly became composed. This would require... Delicacy. "Balelight? It is an absolute pleasure to be of your acquaintance. I've been hoping to meet you for some time now. See, I really just wanted to say. You SPARKING SLONTZE!!! If we meet again, I'm going to sparking murder you, savvy?" She grinned broadly. "Anyway, nice talking to you!!" "Why you--" Balelight started, conjuring up a beam of pure destruction. Then Aaliyah dove forwards, towards the portal that she knew was about to materialize there. Sure enough, she landed in an unfamiliar room. Outside, Balelight stood with a look of bemused surprise, in front of a brand new smoking crater. Aaliyah waved goodbye, lobbing her knife back out at Balelight for good measure.

Long Game 38: In the beginning...
DrakeMarshall replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hmmm... So my new rule. I'm going to use this to test one little piece of one of the games I am signed up for, 'cuz why not. There shall be a role named "paranoia." They shall have an ability. Each night, they may choose to activate this ability, or not to do so. When they activate this ability: If they are attacked by anybody, they survive the attack(s), and execute an attack against every single attacker who attacked them. If they are not attacked on that night, however, they die instead.- 713 replies

Long Game 38: In the beginning...
DrakeMarshall replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Proposed ammendment: Players will invent their own faction actions, then, at the same time that players create their faction win condition. But, like the win condition, these powers need to be okayed by the GM. Factions submitting a more difficult win condition will be allowed to assign themselves more difficult faction powers. The faction action may not be changed after it is set, unless somehow the win condition is also changed. EDIT: Oh wait. The rule that I was building on top of... No longer is accepted. Gimme some time to make a suitable new rule then.- 713 replies

Well, thought I'd drop by real quick. I don't have much time so my RP may not be up to crack, but yeah. I'm very sorry, but you're going to have to do more than that to get through to Aaliyah in her current state. On the bright side, know that Aaliyah will certainly recover, given enough time, and so long as neither of us is dead, then you could always try to be her friend at that point. Well, you can either take that route, or give in to the rage. Calamity-induced evil has a way of perpetuating itself, and you're bound to recover from it eventually. Join the dark side. You know you want to. Why did you guys make it rain... Aaliyah is normally a pretty decent person, I swear. And not nearly this powerful normally. But in these conditions, with raindrops rebounding off every surface, her scrying could temporarily be reclassified as a full invulnerability prime ability, where normally it's only about as effective as the Aviar danger sense. "If... If I work for Balelight?? How dare you!!!!!" Aaliyah dodged and wove around the pair, avoiding crushing walls of energy. Those forcefields may be enough to catch a normal person, no problem, but her opponent could only manipulate those fields in real time. And time was a strange beast, wasn't it? Aaliyah feinted to one side, as the forcefields closed in where she had been moments before, and hurled her knife at the epic. It spun once around as it arced through the air, it's point seeking out the forcefield epic.

Aaliyah was genuinely puzzled. Who did she want to kill first? Both of them had inconvenienced her. Both obviously deserved an excruciating death. Well, if those two get away I might not be able to catch up. "Well, I hate to say it, but you're actually right. I suppose we can call a ceasefire until those two are dealt with. But don't think I've forgotten about all this."

Aaliyah sensed the water around her moving. Coalescing into mist. Trying to smother her. What's this now? All the reflections around her whirred in motion, rapidly arranging and rearranging as she considered and reconsidered in the blink of an eye. They froze again, once as she made her decision and lunged to the left with uncanny agility. Not so fast. A wall of mist clenched around the space she had just been occupying. Who was so foolish as to try to drown her? It was preposterous. She was literally in her element. It had been years since she had seen the future like she was seeing it now. She looked back, and saw mists swirling around the girl she saw before. "You," she said, simply. A knife fell into Aaliyah's palm.

First of all, I want to let everybody know in advance that I will probably be pretty inactive tomorrow. I'm heading off to college / moving in, and it's probably gonna be a busy day. Now, I believe there are some things to address: "Whatever. Not my sparking business I suppose. Balelight's pets off their leash again, looks like, so yeah." Aaliyah replied, watching the retreating epics. Sword-man had disappeared to Calamity knows where, the forcefield lady was running away, and the "police officer" was just sort of standing there, taking it all in. Sometimes she wished she could be like them, using her powers so flagrantly. Sparks, it was her right to be like them. But that would require she bend her knee to Balelight. You made it rain??? That might have been unwise... A rolling thunderclap sounded overhead. Aaliyah's head snapped up. Overcast. But she'd just checked the weather forecast only five minutes ago... Nonononononono. This CAN'T be happening. It started slowly at first. The rain started as a light sprinkle, but to her, it was a torrent of new sensation. An overload of new information as she sensed every drop of rain failling around her, rebounding off every surface. And the reflections... She could see countless tiny images reflected in each puddle, snapshots of the near future, or possible futures, anyway. Thank Calamity she didn't see any danger, else the visions would have gotten much worse... Nononono... Have to get inside... She squeezed her eyes shut, trying not to drown in the flood of information. She stood like this for an unknown amount of time, drenched in the downpour. Finally, her mind adjusted. It always did. As disorienting as it was, she couldn't help but feel like her powers were meant for this. Yes. Finally, she opened her eyes. It was hardly necessary. With raindrops striking every surface, she could nearly sense everything around her without her eyes. She saw a girl standing outside the hospital, watching the fleeing forcefield epic. "Hey You!" she yelled, voice cracking. "Where do you think you're going?" Sparking girl. What did she think she was doing, standing in Aaliyah's way, shouting nonsense like that? Those epics are mine. "Shut it," Aaliyah said, casually passing around the girl. She narrowed her eyes, focusing in on the forcefield epic and her friend. They were abominations. Balelight's pets. How dare they debase the status of epic by swearing fealty to someone so weak. Part of Aaliyah knew this was wrong. Part of her protested. But that part of her was pathetic. All around her, the visions in each reflection of water converged on the two epics. They were going to pay. "TURN AROUND YOU SPARKING COWARDS!!!" she roared. "You don't deserve the swift death you are about to recieve." Without further warning, she broke into a sprint after them at a speed that seemed to be entirely at odds with her slight build.
