  1. No, that is not a sure thing. The only thing we know for certain is that at least some of the Primary POV characters from the First Arc will become secondary PoV or non-PoV characters, and Secondary Characters in the First Arc will become primary PoV Characters - with the five flashback arcs as Lift, Renarin, Ash, Taln, Jasnah (order may be changed, if needed, just as Szeth and Dalinar were swapped from the initial plan - and the caveat that a character does not need to survive in the primary timeline to have flashbacks is still valid (e. g. Eshonai))
  2. Preservation's Thanatos Batman Gambit was at least 2000yrs in-process (and possibly 3000+) but that point is probably moot since they are likely equals (or near equals), based on their intents.
  3. You do not appear to be missing any text that I can see from your screenshot. This is likely due to the Alt Text for images (which is part of the XML so that if the image cannot be displayed, the alt-text is displayed instead). The "description" can be simple or complex (depending on the publisher and the book - see my Frugal Wizard Post about the marginalia for that hidden story). For example: Some ebook readers render this in a non-standard way (or have settings to turn that on and off). Hope that helps
  4. Good questions, and likely the questions Brandon expected us to be asking, but I don't think WaT answered any of those questions.
  5. From the Sharder FAQ (which has a list of common acronyms, with other tips and references): Secret Project WoB: Even without the Word of Brandon, The fact that the Tress story is being told to people on First of the Sun (from Sixth of the Dusk), includes Awakened Computers, and has Riina using a method of using AonDor off of Sel all indicate that this story is Future Cosmere.
  6. Hemalurgy is an expression of Investiture based on Ruin's intent of Destruction and Entropy. WoB: It's a fundamental expression in the Cosmere, like Midnight Essence, Elsecalling (Aon Tia, Surge of Transportation), Lightweaving (Rosharan, Yolish, etc.), Archiving (Storing memories in Investiture - Nalthis, Scadrial), etc. This is also why Dova/Battar could make use of Hemalurgic Principals on Roshar, using the Rosharan Focus on Crystal instead of the Scadrian Focus of Metal.
  7. That's where we heard of the superstition. However, at this point the Iriali are not on Lumar because they have not yet left Roshar. WoBs:
  8. Maybe. Be careful of ambiguous language. WoB: The problem is Brandon did not define "anybody." It could mean: Literally Anybody (Unlikely) Any Scadrian (possible, based on Lerasium - but Lerasium's effect on Elend was a side-effect, not it's main use) Any Allomancer (most likely, but unconfirmed yet) WoB: So, Allomancers burning a God Metal is different from a non-Allomancer burning Lerasium - with no other indications that a God Metal would be burnable by a non-Allomancer. But, as I noted - not actually "confirmed."
  9. No evidence other than science - but I would presume that because Electrum is a naturally occuring alloy that Preservation placed the Geodes in igneous rock with naturally occuring Electrum content. The pooling liquid investiture would naturally pick up impurities from the process of collecting along the rock and crystal to eventually form the E1Atium beads we know and love.
  10. Perhaps that's part of why there is a Kandra on Roshar - learning to inhabit exoskeletons instead of wearing endoskeletons, and using multi-limbed forms. WoBs:
  11. That is the implication from Tensoon in HoA Ch 66 when he ate a horse and a pig to make a horse with more muscle mass and density for moving through the ash: So, in theory, if a Kandra knew a life-form well enough to create it's muscles and organs without a template (see HoA Ch 7) then with an appropriate amount of mass and a true body skeleton to match that mass, they should be able to form a functional body of that size. Found the reference - HoA Ch 9 has a four-armed Kandra cameo:
  12. Kandra do not have a centralized nervous system or a single "brain" (at least not like a human's): As long as they have a skeleton for it, the muscles controlling the limb would have the lobes for controlling that limb and interfacing with the rest of the body, so size and skeleton is the limiting factor, not limb-count. Granted, like other senses and such, if they are not "learning" about a body by consuming one, then trying to self-teach a 6 limb+ structure using a "true body" would be very difficult. As TenSoon shows in HoA - get enough practice with a biological component, and the Kandra can improvise and adapt those structures without needing a "template." Dragonsteel/Yumi Spoilers:
  13. Welcome to the Shard. Thank you for the intro post on what you have read. Please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some tips and tricks. No problem. May I ask what your native language is? I'm sorry, but it is not. I have requested an Admin to move this topic for you. On the main forum page, the descriptions will tell you what topics are appropriate for each forum. The section you wanted is (because it concerns two or more series/worlds): It is likely to be Iriali hair, but not necessarily because of Lumar. It could also be Royal Locks from Nalthis (this sems less likely). The Sharder FAQ has tips on searching the forums, as there are many threads on these topics, but you may like these two recent threads About the WoR Trophies and About the Iriali. Hope that helps.
  14. Specifically, Part 5 Ch 1: WoBs: Hope that helps
  15. That's why Brandon calls them Prime - the first (abandoned) version of a story getting an entire re-write. As opposed to White Sand Prime that nobody gets to read (the 90s version, not the White Sand Prose from early 2000s that we can get through the Newsletter) or Aether of Night (which is not a prime because the stary won't get a rewrite - too many elements reused elsewhere and the new Aether world story will be entirely different). Like this? Two quotes from separate posts, added to a single reply. Alternatively: Like this, a second separate quote frmm the same post, added for a separate response. That said, I wonder if Courteth will even be part of the eventual Canon Dragonsteel. I get the feeling that Elements of Jerrick's story will be "canon" but none of that tale will be a part of the final Trilogy we receive after SA10.
  16. We may know that, but would Kaladin know that yet? By the end of WaT he's had a bare few weeks of working on Psychological theory (a bit before the Invasion of Urithiru - where his group was making progress, but obviously not "healed" - and his ten days with Szeth and Nale). I, personally, do not expect the Herlads to return in the back five "mostly better" - more like "we recogize some of the issues and are starting to try to develop coping mechanisms."
  17. But you could likely use Abrasion to be the Rosharan Champion free-runner. . . wall jumps and such should be much easier this way.
  18. Small quibble. Sazed said that Kelsier didn't prevent the reformation of atium. The atium and Well would've reformed after around three centuries. Yes, that's what I said. Sorry I did not mention the timeframe, I was only responding to "Kelsier to destroy all the atium at the Pits" and pointing out he destroyed geodes, that create Atium which is the same result, but slightly different execution (because A-Steel and A-Iron would not destroy a Godmetal). Hence, "quibble" - not a huge difference but a detail that may be important to further theorizing. Sorry, I was just trying to help.
  19. Sharder FAQ has info on various quote and reply techniques, in case maybe the issue is the chosen method not working for the desired result. You should be able to reply to multiple posts (even if they are on different pages) with one reply. Hope that helps
  20. Between books 5 and 6 approximately 10 years will pass for Roshar. In that time, Scadrial will experience about 80 years; while the Heralds will experience months. This is likely a deliberate choice by Ishar because one of the primary problems for the Herlads is the weight of millenia of memories for a soul not meant to exist so long. The last thing they wouldl want is to add more years of time and memories to that Cognitive debt.
  21. and then this second line would indicate he's in a slider's speed bubble. Think of Wayne with all his spare time to change clothing. I think this is the confusion with Kaladin's comment. It's contradictory. The second comment is not about passage of time, which may be why it seems contradictory. Read it more like "we have months with no obligations or torture to spend on nothing but healing our souls in peace"
  22. Kalak even mentions seeing her in the Postlude:
  23. Small quibbles - Everything we have indicates Nighttime mists are normal and would always be there (Secret History Spoilers): It's only the stronger, Daytime mists that begin Snapping people that are tied to the Well. It's the change from normal to Daytime Mists that is meant to signal that the Well is almost full. Also, Kelsier didn't destroy any Atium at the Pits - he destroyed the Geodes - disrupting Ruin's Well and preventing more Atium from forming - same result but slightly different execution. All in all, great summary.
  24. Also, please consider that not everybody dissatisfied with Shallan is dissatisfied because of the character. There are some (like me) who dislike the Shallan portions because of her character arc, not because of her as a character. Discussed, at length, in this (now closed) Shallan opinions thread (and the many similar threads). For me, I disliked the way DID was handled, especially in Oathbringer. I think there was more set-up for this ending than many peoiple realize on their first reading. I, for one, have been hoping for this for a long time (even if it happened in a way that I did not expect).
  25. I can see and follow your chain of logic, but there are two additional considerations: We had practically nothing from Vedel (patron of the Edgedancers) as a comparison There was also a strong reference to Protection and Justice: Which is implied to be the Oaths of the "rebel" Skybreakers following the "old oaths" WaT Sections: Many of the orders have references to the common person - it's the how as much as the who - Edgedancers remember, Windrunners protect, (old) Skybreakers seek justice - all for the common person.
