Just to be clear up-front, I am not trying to change anybody's opinion or personal head-canon. I do, however, feel like I should explain my opinion more clearly - if only to help make sure all people in the discussion understand one another. I do not think Kaladin ever loved (or even felt romantic attraction for) Laral. From what we see, the extent of their relationship was: WoK Ch 11: Kaladin is oblivious to Laral's flirting, seems to view her as a friend (because he feels estranged from other Darkeyes) and he totally misses that she wants him to try winning a Shardblade so he can be Lighteyes and can court her WoK Ch 25: Kal misses his friend and starts to understand that his parents encouraged their friendship in the hopes that they could, one-day, Marry Conspicuously absent is any indication that Kal had feelings for Laral or actually wanted to marry her as his parents were hoping (See below) WoK Ch 37: Kaladin barely even thinks about or reminisces about Laral, then feels their prior friendship is betrayed when Laral supports Rillir's bigotted views of Darkeyes over their prior friendship. WoK Ch 44: We finally see some measure of physical attraction, but mostly (to me) is a sense of indignity that Roshone would claim Laral because Riller was dead. I'll discuss Tarah below As for Lyn, we have almost no data other than that Kaladin dated her under peer pressure from Shallan, Adolin, and Syl; Lyn cared for Kaladin but Kaladin seemingly did not have enough emotional attachment to make Lyn or their relationship a priority - the relationship imploded. My impression of this was that Kal was only bowing to pressure from both well-meaning friends, and Society; likely with a sprinkle of "if I date a fellow Windrunner maybe the Tower's women will stop seeing me as "most eligible bachelor" and leave me alone." Personal Experience example I see as similar to Kaladin - which influenced my perceptions of the character and his personal and relationship arcs: And that is a large part of how I came to the conclusions I did, with regard to Kaladin's relationship(s). Though, I will admit that his is the first time I have seen my experiences echoed in Speculative Fiction, and having that echo on screen for others to see and hopefully understand also plays into why I hope others will understand why I hold the views I do. Feel free to ask questions here, or in-PM if interested

I'm not sure this is correct. Spiking something like SteelSight works because the actual sensory organ to be modified (eyes) exists in the person receiving the spike. However, humans are entirely lacking the organelle required to use or interpret the electrolocation sense from a platypus' bill. I think the Hemalurgic charge would try to express itself, find no appropriate part of the spiritweb to attch the sense to and cause something weird as a result (which may or may not include expressing the actual spiked senses). Alternatively, maybe like the chimerae, the hemalurgist would just be radically changed and grow a bill to allow the sense to take hold.

feruchmy Tin Feruchemy and the 7 (yes, 7) senses.
Treamayne replied to Entr0pic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Actually, the number of senses is greater than 7 - but there is debate on some of them (including sense of heat - which some argue is just a subset of Touch). The Five traditional "senses" are about perceiving the outside world, while many of the remaining senses are about internal or personal perception. Yes, the metallic arts can manipulate more than the traditional five senses - including some unique to the Cosmere (such as a TinMind storing Steelsight). WoBs: There are no direct WoBs on kinaesthesia or proprioception - though TFE shows Ham discussing how these are affected by A-Pewter (and therefore should be storable by F-Tin). @Koloss17 has a number of Tin threads (such as F-Tin's the Best) that you may enjoy searching and reading the discussion and speculation. Hope that helps -
Stonewalkers does not appear to be a novel or novella - it's a game supplement, but I cannot find any information on how large that Adventure will be yet. Hope that helps

Which shard, if any, has an “evil” intent?
Treamayne replied to Entr0pic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
None of the Shards are evil. WoB: Hope that helps -
They mention many animals in the first trilogy - but yes, you can assume that many/most earth animals will also exist on Scadrial. Hope that helps

Please do not double post, it is against policy. If you have the most recent post and need to add information, then please Edit your post. If you are unsure how to do so, please see the Sharder FAQ.

I'm not sure to which book you are referring. Do you perhaps mean Stones Unhallowed? That was a temporary possible name for Book three when considerd making that book Szeth's Flashback stories, before he changed to Dalinar's Flashbacks. If I am wrong about Stoned Unhallowed, please let me know to which book you are referring and I'll see if I can answer the question. Hope that helps

Why would they change? You would not have 1 bead representing the purse and all of it's contents. You clearly consider the contents as separate from the container they are in - so there would be a bead for the purse itself and for each item in the purse, including each sphere, and the number of beads in Shadesmar would have nothing to do with how you accurately or inaccurately count their physical self. But that is why I also said there were factors in how long it would take for disparate object's cognitive identities (beads) to merge into a single cognitive identity (bead). Take @Quantus's example for comparison. If you are the only one with the tea - then only your perception influences how the objects also perceive themselves. If you are in a room of multiples, then conflicting viewpoints would influence if the disparate cogntive identities change or not, and would likely take longer to make that change (if ever) - but Quantus' example of the broken Temple of Taln was viewed by thousands and was already considered "broken" and "ruined" by most. Many likely also viewed the damage as "irreperable" meanign Dalinar had a much smaller window to effect change (which was greatly helped by the Temple's own cognitive Identity wanting to return to it's nornal state rather than shift to reflect the "broken" perceptions).

The closest WoB we have is: So, as the person views the sugar and tea becoming "one cohesive thing" then those two beads should combine into the bead of sweetened tea. It may take time depending on: how distant to the beads are from each other how long it takes the sweetened tea to also view itself as one thing (sweet tea) rather than two things (sugar dissolved in tea) The same should apply to blending or any other version of combining physical items - such as the table metaphor from Emporer's Soul: TES Day 12: Hope that helps

Wind and Truth Full Book Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
Treamayne replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think part of the problem is: Newer fans don't realize Renarin has been written-as and planned-for a homosexual romance since 2002, and this specific romance has been implied and foreshadowed since 2014 If they did not have that information and background, WaT feels like a reaction to "mainstream media in the 20s" rather than a planned event more than 20 years in the making. Also, I think adding the Sarqqin scene (meant as a throwback to Sigzil's scene in Oathbringer - Ch 35) muddled the author's intent some - especially amongst those unfamiliar with the background not in the books. Technically closer to two years since Renarin Joined Bridge 4 before the Everstorm. -
I apologize if I was too strong, I tend to react negatively to opinion stated as fact - so I was curious on what you based your statement. As GHM shows, there are fans who rank RoW as their least favorite of the first arc - my point was simply that that opinion was not universal and should not be presented as such (not just for the OP, but for all that may read this thread in the future).

It's important to keep in mind that Rayse did not intend to Conquer the other Shards while still stuck in the Rosharan System - he intended to use the 1000yr delay to begin scouting and plan for what he woudl do once free of Roshar. RoW 112: From Rayse's point of view, once hostilities resumed (his specialty, vowing to not start a fight, then getting others to start the fight for him) or in another thousand years, he would have another chance to escape Roshar (perhaps sooner if Cultivation found a way to leave) - but, until then, he would start preparing the field (with Fused!Dalinar if he won).

@PeterAhlstrom Sorry to bug you, but since I saw you were on, I just wanted to follow up on if the pictures posted earlier here met your needs, or if there was some other image that could help.

Reordered for question cohesion: Yes. Any Radiant can become a savant in either or both surges, but it is less likely and less pronounced due to protections from the Nahel Bond Unlikely, but probably not impossible. Fused use less light overall; because, instead of having two different surges, they actually have two manifestations of each surge - and active and a passive Surge. The Passive surge can be used at-will as long as they hold light in their gemheart, but does not use up that light at all. The active surge (like Lashing) uses Light, similar to a Radiant, but less light and not as quickly. Fused are by-nature less leaky and more efficient with Light than a Radiant because they have a Gemheart. All this means is that because less Active Investiture is passing through them, they are less likely to become Kaza/Spook-like savants; though if Raboniel and Leshwi are indicators, they are already savant-like with their understanding and interactions with the surges (having 7k years of practice or so) Hope that helps. The problem is, we do not yet know enough about them or their physiology. For example, we know a Sleepless can be Radiant. But we don't know what percentage of their Hordelings are required to form a body to hold the bond and wield the Surges. We don't know if that immortality WoB means les than 50% of hordlings die, or maybe more like 80+%. We don't know how many hordlings Nikliasorm, for example, was using to make his body on Rysn's Wandersail (was it only 50% of his available hordlings? less? more?) There simply is not enough information to extrapolate an answer - all we know for certain is that at least one Sleepless died at Aharietiam. Or maybe not - maybe it was just that body of Hordlings, but the Sleepless to whom they belonged survived?

Wind and Truth was just too darn sad.
Treamayne replied to Aliroz-The-Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just for the record, to add points to consider for discussion, the Radiant Oaths have never been about Morality. They are about Values - Morality has always been about what the Spren and Radiant decide together for themselves (as shown in the entire Moash/Elhokar WoR subplot) - not what their Radiant Order decides is capital-R right. More importantly, the Radiant Oaths were about limiting power and allowing progression as a Radiant comes to better understand themselves, their Spren and the power the bond allows them to access. -
Could you please clarify this? Because it sounds like you think RoW has a bad reputation (many who dislike Oathbringer enjoy Rhythm of War, those that dislike RoW seem to like Oathbringer from opinions I have seen on the forums). Just for the record for the OP - my current personal ranking:

Kaladin has always given off strong Aromantic vibes (likely Quoiromantic) - he does not need a love interest to feel complete (no matter what Adolin, Syl, or fans think otherwise). Guess what happens when peer pressure forces an Aro into romantic relationships? Those relationships implode. What happened to Kal's relationships (at least Tarah and Lyn)? They imploded. Even the "not-real-triangle" with Shallan was far more about how Lightweavers affect his mood (he even mentions in WoR that it's the same reaction he had with Tien) than it was ever about Shallan herself. We are not lesser or incomplete for the lack of a "Romance." WoB:
