If you can go to a signing, go to a signing. The Weller option is mostly for people who aren't near a tour city. The number is more of a coolness factor than anything else, and doesn't add value to the book unless it's a super low number. And the most dedicated fans aren't going to sell their books anyway. -

Unfortunately, books are heavy, and heavy things are expensive to ship internationally. The store did two tests where they stuffed a similar-sized book into an envelope (which would have been cheaper to ship), but in both tests the corners of the book were significantly damaged. So, the more expensive box is the only viable option. They were able to ship Steelheart in an envelope because it's a much smaller book and the padded envelope offered enough protection for a book that size. But that won't fly with Words of Radiance. -
I grew up with four sisters. We all watched My Little Pony and Transformers (they were on back-to-back) and played with the toys for both.

I flagged it. I think you don't need a sexual joke in the middle of a mundane thread. The mods could have felt differently but apparently they didn't. Aminar: On the copyright page of a normal book there will be a line of numbers that looks something like this: 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. The lowest number is the printing number. However, if you have a gray cover, that is not the standard Tor edition and is probably the Book Club edition. The standard Tor edition has a blue cover. The Science Fiction Book Club prints their own hardcovers that are cheaper and lower quality than standard hardcovers. Aside from being smaller, there won't be a headband or tailband. The paper is also thinner. However, they are still labeled with the original publisher's symbol. Unless it is an SFBC exclusive omnibus edition or something like that; then it is likely to have horrible cover art and say "GuildAmerica" or the like at the bottom of the spine. I was an SFBC member as a teenager before I realized their quality sucks.

Sure. Yeah, the book club edition wouldn't have the blind stamp on the case.

Aminar: I'm not aware of any US hardcovers of WoK that don't have a glyph on the cover. What printing number is your book? Is it the large Tor edition or a small Book Club edition?

The iBookstore version should now have it as well. If you have it on iBooks try deleting your file and redownloading it. I'll get it to the other stores soon (and the version that's sent via email), but right now I am working on Firefight and that takes priority. -
ryan, apparently on Kindle it will come out per EST no matter where you live. It's only on a Nook that we have a report of the release date obeying timezones.

Hey, fantastic! When I ask a question like that, this is exactly the amount of detail I dream of receiving, and it very rarely happens. My hat is off to you! I'm checking with Tor to verify this, but I assume Amazon wouldn't say this if it weren't true, though you can never be too sure about a customer support rep. (As I've been documenting on Facebook recently.) Publishers need to get their act together and set things up so more than just Amazon has this type of program. Otherwise Amazon will just get more marketshare. -
I expect the moons were put in their current orbits artificially, but by whom or what I do not know. On astronomical terms, these are not stable orbits, but astronomical terms means millions of years. A few thousand or even a few hundred thousand years are no problem. By the way, I minored in astronomy while at the university, for expressly science fictional purposes.

I don't know for sure what time the ebook will be available. But I believe it will be before any bookstore opens on March 4th. And it could be as early as midnight EST. So it's possible people going to the midnight release will start reading the ebook at 10:00 p.m.

Tor said they will be sending us the ebook to review, but that hasn't happened yet. Our goal is for the ebook art to be as good as possible. Some of it will be in color. The ebook won't be split in any English-speaking country. By the way, The Emperor's Soul and Legion are now finally available on Google Play in the US and Canada. And there's something special in the Google Play version of The Emperor's Soul. (Though, it will make its way to all the versions eventually.)

In the US, the book is $12.74 on Kindle and Google Play (and probably the others). In India, the book will come out March 6th. At least, the ebook should be available then, in India, from Gollancz. I don't know when local bookstores there will actually get copies. You may want to try ordering from the Book Depository, which has free worldwide shipping.

In the US, bookstores do their restocking on Tuesdays. In the UK, bookstores do their restocking on Thursdays. That is why the US release for Words of Radiance is March 4th and the UK release is March 6th. Why do they do it on those days? I have no idea. The US and the UK are different markets with different tastes. It is in Brandon's best interest to use a UK publisher to market books in the UK and a US publisher to market books in the US. Each publisher knows their local market and how to best serve it. At least this is the theory, and it seems to bear out. Commonwealth or former commonwealth countries get looped in with the UK publishing contracts because that is the way it has always been done. UK publishers will try to get Canada rights too, but American authors generally give their Canada rights to the US publisher. Some authors sell World English rights to one company, and that may mean less money for the author. For example, Tor is the best SF/F publisher in the US, but Tor is a minor presence in the UK and I have no idea what their Australia/New Zealand presence is like. However, Orbit also has a rather good presence in the US now, and it has always had a great UK/Australia/New Zealand presence, so selling World English rights to Orbit may not be a bad deal at all. (Gollancz, which is Brandon's UK publisher, and Orbit are owned by the same company, but operate separately.) Mitosis is a case of us and Brandon's agent dropping the ball. The US publisher commissioned it. The UK publisher didn't really know about it because everyone forgot to tell them. When it did come out, and we realized there wasn't a UK edition, we considered putting it out ourselves. But now it looks like Gollancz will most likely put it out. Negotiations are still underway. By the way, Gollancz usually gets its book files straight from Tor. They don't even change the spellings or the quotation marks. Sometimes the UK mass market paperbacks are re-set with UK style—I think the split Way of Kings paperback was done this way. But the Gollancz hardcovers look just like the US ones on the inside.
