  1. We are partway through Part 5 playing Mass Recall, which is a set of maps for Starcraft II that recreate the campaigns from Starcraft and Brood War, with all the original voices and units. It's quite well done, and visually much more appealing than the old graphics in the original. (Though you have to watch the cutscenes on YouTube.)
  2. Don't forget Scalzi. They're minting money from his books too, and they're more cost-effective since they are short. But to answer the OP: all of this type of thing is very likely to continue. The number of preview chapters may have hit a high. What gets previewed really depends on the number of different types of things in each book. I picked these preview chapters to showcase each type of chapter you're going to get in this book. I expect the next 3 books to be a bit shorter. The big delay did cause Brandon to be more cognizant of the need for this book to be very awesome, more awesome than he had originally been planning for book 2. So, it's very possible that with slightly shorter books following it, they may each be a little less complex and thus potentially less awesome. But I also have to agree with whoever said it earlier in the thread: Brandon has become quite a better writer in the last 4 years. And I'm confident he will continue to improve, as long as he keeps himself fresh by doing interesting side projects. I know a bit of what Brandon has planned for the next books, and I trust him to pull it off.
  3. Sigh. I am so ready for this book to be out already. The person least anxious for the book release is probably Brandon.
  4. I totally wasn't paying attention, then someone said I had become Adonalsium. Recently though, I have been repping people more often that I used to. This is, of course, because everyone is being particularly intelligent and articulate.
  5. Not all the hair colors manifest by percentage. So far we only know about Alethi black hair and Iriali golden hair doing that.
  6. If Renarin is a woman, maybe it's Renarin's POV.
  7. Kaladin already rode the winds in a dream in the first book. Anyway, I approved this post of Alice's ahead of time, so of course she's not getting in trouble.
  8. Call CSI. Enhance, enhance, enhance.
  9. I don't remember all the viewpoints for the back five. I think I know three of them. But I'm not going to answer the remaining questions. It's such a long way out and things can change.
  10. Everyone should pretend it never happened and not talk about it. First rule of Amazon leaks. Many thanks to StormLight_Luc who notified me about this so I could tell Tor to put the kibosh on it.
  11. They picked one where my comment was something like "HAHAHAHAHAHA NO." Actually that had to do with this. Pretty sure they picked that quote just to screw with me.
  12. I am a brony, but I haven't finished the second season yet. Right now my girls and I are spending our Saturday TV time watching Sailor Moon and Pokemon, two episodes each. The girls' favorite episodes in the first season are Swarm of the Century and Feeling Pinkie Keen. My favorite moment of the first season is the Don Music reference. I busted out laughing and didn't stop for about ten minutes. It just came out of nowhere and was so perfect.
  13. They will go out at noon Eastern time.
  14. What do you think is more likely? Sentences well chosen to be taken out of context, or clear spoilers where you can figure out exactly what's going on? If it helps you decide: I approved each one.
  15. Actually, I am looking for some really good shoujo or josei to watch on a legal streaming site. My wife and I loved Chihayafuru (but she's not likely to be interested in another sports anime unless it's to that level of quality; we watched a few Saki episodes and it was too tropey and the gameplay was boring; HikaGo isn't shoujo but she was also too bored by that; anyway I'm saying something other than sports would be good...).
  16. With regard to stone bridges, also don't forget that the Alethi know that the Parshendi have at least one Shardblade and probably more.
  17. It's not a ketek because the lines don't have the same words. Keteks and palindromes are not the same thing.
  18. No, not already. And the sequel will come out about a year after the book is finished.
  19. Yes.
  20. I think it would not have been a good choice to show her using the mists earlier. Then everyone would have been waiting for her to pull that out. But perhaps it could have been hinted at more without actually showing her use them.
  21. It doesn't, because we don't have ebook rights in Gollancz territories. But I'll ask Gollancz if they want to put it in their Emperor's Soul ebook.
  22. If you have any kind of commute, I do recommend the audiobook, for various reasons. Audio is how I read nearly the whole series.
  23. Brandon addresses this a bit in this annotation. http://brandonsanderson.com/annotation-mistborn-chapter-thirty-eight-pt-three/ But anyway, I don't think the #2 above is worded very well. It comes off as overly broad. Solutions that people will find compelling should often be surprising yet inevitable. Mistborn 3's ending fits that for me; it's foreshadowed since the beginning of the first book. Mistborn 1's ending isn't inevitable, but I think Brandon lays enough groundwork to demonstrate that there are aspects of the magic that they don't yet understand.
  24. Last I heard, he means the sequel to be a similar length to the Emperor's Soul. But we won't really know until it's is done.
