  1. Kelsier willingly chooses to remain in the Cognitive Realm, and not go to the Beyond, despite the fact that he might meet Mare there. So, what matters more to Kelsier: himself or Mare?
  2. Has it been confirmed by anyone? Because Ati just said "Vax" so by that we dont really know for sure that it is a place/planet.
  3. I want to see Bavadin as a shard though. Will Brandon do tours for AU? In that case, maybe someone could ask him about this gender issue? Also, the word perpedicularity was in the OP as something Autonomy might restore. What does it mean?
  4. Nice theory! Sounds plausible, even if I hope that Yolen is unaccessible because of something more... mysterious.
  5. I believe that Brandon just changed his mind, since Bavadin is someone he is fond of, has a grudge, and might be the sun. We do? Where is that stated?
  6. The essay does not actually say that Odium splintered Ambition. It just says he tried to, and then states that he/she was splintered in another location. It might have been something else than Odium who caused the final splintering. For me, I was shocked by Bavadins gender. Always assumed that she was a man. Learning of Ambition was also nice. R.I.P
  7. Dont ever think it is anything wrong with you as a reader! People are different. Adolin is the most important thing for you in Stormlight, the thing that gets you hooked to the series. It is completely understandable that you feel disappointed. It is also nothing wrong with reading the book despite knowing you will be disappointed. Who knows, you might find it satisfactory. You are obviously free to decide what you want to read, but dont worry about it being unfair to us, or to Brandon. Because I dont think it is. I dont know how comfortable you are with getting a big focus on yourself in this thread. If you dont like it, or find it annoying or something, we will obviously not force you to continue replying to us. I want to add, however, that I thank you for all your posts about Adolin. It has made me understand and appreciate the character more. I also want to say that at least I do not think that there is anything strange about feeling that less of a specific character can ruin the story.
  8. Wonder if Brandon sees how many threads that has been created to discuss Adolins future prominence, and how many threads that has derailed into discussion of his significance. If he does, that might make him change his plans :-D
  9. Katniss in the Hunger Games, because she is boring, but she is praised by everyone anyways. Belgarion. He is too much of a generic good guy. And Gregor Clegane and Vargo Hoat from ASoIaF. Luke and Leia can get honorable mentions. Oh, and Ezra too!
  10. Concerning smart people: Except for folks with Shard-knowledge, I want to say that I think Kelsiers true plan was pretty brilliant, considering the knowledge he had when he made it. The Survivor would probably get good results at Scadrian IQ tests.
  11. Well, since Kell is 0, I vote Elend. And Wayne for Era 2.
  12. There are people who believe that Kalak was with Nalan at Gavilars Party. They were encountered by Jasnah in the Prologue to WoR. People also think that Jezrien is the drunk man who Szeth meets at the party in the WoK Prologue. There is a very good theory that the Heralds all are mad, and that their madness (except for Taln) consists of them going the opposite to their ideals. Nale has a very weird sense of justice. Ash, Herald of Beauty, destroys art. As for Kalak and Jezrien, Nale mentions Jezrien drooling in the Lift interlude, which leads us to believe that he has lost his wits, or something in that fashion. The guy identified as Kalak at the party seems very worried, and thinks he is getting "worse".
  13. Awesome! I discussed Bavadin and his interests a couple of days ago, and it is nice to know that he did something that helped Odium. Question is how much he did, and if it was deliberate or not...
  14. Yup. Ironeyes is the last man standing.
  15. I agree that WoR feels more like Adolins book than Dalinars. Dalinar do actually only have his name listed in three parts, just like Adolin. He does have one or two very short POVs at the end of Part 3, but he is listed in as many parts as Adolin. And since Adolin got a pretty good focus in WoR, I think we can be rather happy if he continues on that road. The only issue is that other people might steal his arcs, but hopefully he gets something out of it as well.
  16. Sad its over... but it was fun! Thanks for the good job Patar!
  17. I want to read Adolins story, but I am also fond of Mraize and Amaram, and want to know how Brandon develops those characters. About Adolin, I do believe that he can get focus and development without flashbacks. It has worked pretty well so far.
  18. Marsh. I like him better, he has mythology built around him, and fighting-wise, I would say that he is the most powerful contestant here.
  19. Adolin. I agree with @maxal, he is definitely not an archetype. In fact, that he seems so is one of the things that makes him so great. Much of Brandons writing consists of turning tropes in fun new ways, which is what he did with the Kholin prince. So Adolin wins.
  20. I like him, but I have some issues. First off, I rarely think the main character is overly awesome. Secondly, I am a bit tired of him always saving everyone. Think it could be someone elses turn next time. Kaladin feels like Ashs Pikachu: brought in to win every battle, despite the fact that he already is the frontrunner of everything.
  21. Who is the villain of SA6-10 if Odium just leaves for Scadrial without intentions of returning after SA5 though? Another shard? That would feel a bit cheap, unless it was a threat created directly by Odium. Hoid disliking Bavadin sounds weak to me, but whatever. The Intents could work though.
  22. Like the choices for pretty much everyone. I can buy the guy they chose for Dalinar. I have never seen Watanabe in anything, as far as I know, but I am pretty sure he has done a bunch of physical roles and could buff up a bit through training. Hoid though... Hiddelston would be a great fit for the character, but I'm thinking David Tennant maybe? As a reserve. The one negative thing is that Hiddelston might overshadow the Hoid role since he is Loki in so many peoples eyes.
  23. Mistborn Era 2 is after Stormlight 5 timeline-wise, correct. Then, all Odium stuff would depend pretty much in how far Kaladin & co has come in wiping the Shattered Plains with him. He might be free. If so, he is probably trying to take over Roshar. That seems to be something he wants rather badly. So I'd say that if Odium is at Scadrial, it will mean the Rosharans gave him good enough a beating for him to decide that a short vacation is good for keeping spirits up. In other words, he is scared away by the end of SA5, and then leaves Roshar. Maybe he needs something from Scadrial in order to prep a new attack, for SA6-10. If Odium is not defeated at the end of SA5, I find it wierd that he would just decide to abandon the Roshar business he has been up to for (intsert a number with many zeroes after) years, and take a trip to Scadrial. So if Odium is on Scadrial, he probably got bested on Roshar, and probably needs Harmonys swagbag or something similar to beat the Rosharans. Why Bavadin though? What has he done for getting the reputation of being a violent douche probe to attacking others?
  24. Well... Szeth. I will continue my tradition of not voting for Kal.
  25. Adolin. A better character.
