I have always thought that it has to do with Amaram. She dislikes him for some reason, and, if I remember correctly, he didnt appear too comfortable around her in the WoR prologue. She also mentions a friend who tried to convert her, or something. We know how religious Amaram is, and my theory is that they were close once, but then something happened, and that led to Jasnah being broken.

Fear about Sanderson's TV/Movie deals
Toaster Retribution replied to djammmer's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is indeed a danger, but I think Brandon is aware of it. He probably knows what is happening to GRRM. Furthermore, making movies/series takes time. Stormlight is in script stadium, and still needs financing, casting and a director. When that happens, production will take long as well. Brandon will have time to finish at least the first five. Plus, we still have Mistborn, Elantris and Warbreaker, so there are a LOT of other Cosmere stuff to adapt. -
Welcome! Hope you enjoy it here! Oh, and btw, Kelsier from Mistborn is the best Sanderson character :-)

The Dichotomy of Villains
Toaster Retribution replied to Radiant_Jaeger's topic in Stormlight Archive
There has been theories of similar things, and it seems quite plausible. I though the traitor among them line had to do with the Unmade though, but I dont remember the exactly where it was, so I cant say for sure. Nice catch about these villains/antagonists too! Since there are a lot of Secret Society people, who are potential villains (Thaidakar, Mraize, Iyatil, Restares) I can say that we will probably get our Shallan villain from them.- 43 replies

It would be pretty stupid for Kaladin to take the honorblade, sonce it can be used to basically get one extra Radiant. Also, Kaladin kind of needs to be toned down in my opinion. Having him dual-wield Shardblades would not do that. That said, I too want to see someone dual-wielding Shards (not just Kal though).

I dont think that either one of the Kholin sons will be evil, at least not intentionally. Misguided yes, controlled by Odium, also yes, but I doubt that they will be evil. I can see them take on antagonistic roles in the story, but that is not really the same as being evil. An antagonist opposes the hero, yes, but you can oppose the hero for good reasons. I would call Moash, Graves and Mr. T antagonists, but I would not call them evil. I suspect that a similar situation might arise with Adolin or Renarin. Of course, if Renarin is controlled by Odium (or an Unmade), his actions will be evil. But that will be the one controlling him, not Renarin.

There does seem to be wierd stuff surrounding seeing the future, since it is tabooed in Vorin society, and Syls dislike of it adds to that as well. However, Syls opinions are not always fact. She does not like lying either, but Shallan and Pattern pretty much feed of lies. So Syl is pretty biased, and not always right. She seems to have a pretty black-white worldview. But there is definitely something wierd with seeing the future on Roshar.

Would it be possible to hijack a kandra/mistwraith and put Kelsiers Cognitive Shadow in it through hemalurgy? Then he could build his old body up from the bones. I am not very good at hemalurgy, or cognitive shadows, but if this far-fetched idea is correct, it would basically make Kelsier a kandra.

Axies is pretty fun, and has appeared in both WoK and WoR.Do you guys think we will see him in Oathbringer?

That's no insult, that's just the truth (about everyone except me).

I really like this theory, and I am impressed by how you have managed to put together something interesting and realistic from so few hints. Great job!

I apologize for misunderstanding your original post. I did not mean to :-) I think that there is a certain theme of "journey before destination" in SA, and just like the Diagram, and the Sons of Honor, I would suspect the Ghostbloods to be similarly morally questionable. Exactly how "good" they are will depend on which perspective you have, just like different people can think differently about wether Taravangian is good or not.
-
The Ghostbloods were at the very least, willing to help Lin ascend to power. This means that they probably have political interests in Roshar. I dont really see why they would care if they are only after trophies. I never said they were good though. My guess (and hope) is that both the Ghostbloods, and Mraize and Iyatil, will be grey characters. Not Sadeas-level bad, but certainly morally questionable. I am in the "Shallan will start to kind of like them and join them for real" camp, and if she does, they can not really be Sauron reborn.

I think that they have bigger goaks than the gathering of trophies. For example, they wanted Lin Davar as highprince for dome reason. We also have to remember that the two currently living Ghostbloods we have met (Mraize and Iyatil) are connected through a master-apprentice relationship, and are obsessed by hunting. We should probably bot judge all Ghostbloods based on them. On another note, Mraize is pretty cool.
-
I will go ahead and answer my own question, and for my part it is Autonomy. She is mysterious, seems like a cool character from the little we know (she shut down travelling from/to Taldain and influences religions all over the Cosmere). The whole freedom theme is also really cool.

Just gonna ask a random question: which of the known Shards are your favorites, and why?
-
I would guess that the Ghostbloods are the most Cosmere-aware secret society in Roshar. I can even imagine them having a greater goal that concerns more than Roshar. Their goal is hard to pinpoint. Maybe there are clues in their name? The Diagramists and the Sons of Honor really dont have the same goal. The Diagram purely wants to save the world through following Mr. T's text. The Sons want to return to a society controlled by the church.

Your Least Favorite Cosmere Story And Why
Toaster Retribution replied to Stonesinew134's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Warbreaker. Found the book kind of slow and boring. I am color blind as well, so I had problems imagining everything. That said, Warbreaker is still good, and... -
I'm very late to this thread, but I just want to say some things anyway: 1. Respect to OP for replying in such a nice manner despite all the angry comments he got. I will upvote the opening post for this. 2. About sexuality: I think that there is a value in the light sexual content of Brandons books. It is good that there is something for everyone. Just like it is nice to have superhero movies that are pure fun (Guardians of the Galaxy) and superhero movies that are darker and more gritty (Logan), it is nice to have different kinds of fantasy, and I would not want Brandon to change in order to become someone he isnt, just as Guardians should not be Logan. That would be sad for audiences like me, who prefer Brandons take on sexual content.
