  1. Ghostblood? I'm officially mysterious and morally ambigious.
  2. Where did Dalinar even get this one from?
  3. Huh, listing favorite characters is fun: Books: 1. Stannis Baratheon 2. Jaime Lannister 3. Robb Stark 4. Bronn 5. Tormund Giantsbane Show: 1. Bronn 2. Beric Dondarrion 3. Tywin Lannister 4. Tormund Giantsbane 5. Oberyn Martell
  4. Apart from the sex slaves thing in the flashback... The Tower. That betrayal is completely disgusting.
  5. Aladar has a daughter, apparently. Any theories on her importance to the story? Or is she someone in disguise? It would be wierd to introduce her in an already exposition-filled chapter if she was a random background character.
  6. Because the visions told him to unite them.
  7. He is going to Urithiru. And he might become Sadeas successor as highprince.
  8. Oathbeaver.
  9. This has somewhat derailed into ASoIaF discussion, which is wrong for this thread. Without being a mod, I just want to say that I have this thread up here on the Shard for ASoIaF discussion, if anyone is interested to discuss it without derailing this thread (hope the mods dont feel that I'm stealing their jobs). Anyhow, as for these sample chapters, I am quite interested in who we will get next week. This one was heavy Dalinar focus, with a tiny bit of Adolin sprinkled in. Shallan had no lines, and Kaladin didnt even appear. I will be terribly surprised if we go without Kaladin next week. Shallan... maybe. I think we will get one more Dalinar too. Also, where is Amaram? Has he arrived yet?
  10. Forget your life. Oathvember is coming.
  11. Scary thing is, I can actually see this happening. I am actually starting to think that Dalinar might go bad. It felt a bit off. I still loved it, but yeah. I blame it on things feeling different when you read them on a computer screen than on a book page.
  12. @Calderis It might be something in the style of corrupted investiture being black, and corrupted sentient things being red. Odium could by the way be the connection between Skaze and black spheres. He was on Sel after all, and you can blame the Skaze on him (really, you can blame the whole mess that is Sels magic on him). Point being, Odium might have specifically created the Skaze from Skais investiture, maybe in order to "put it somewhere" like Sazed has to do with Ruins investiture. Also @Flash, black is way cooler than red.
  13. Quick about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (Spoilers!) I think GotG2 is even better than GotG1 (which I love). It just feels deeper. Gunn really knows his characters. The worldbuilding is great too, the plot twists awesome and chilling, and the humor top-notch. I really felt that Marvel gave Gunn a ton if cash and said: "Do whatever you storming want." And that is exactly what James Gunn did. I also loved Yondu, and loved that Gunn had the guts to kill him at the end of the movie. Also, I was apparently the only one on the internet who liked the Taserface gag.
  14. @FollowYourMuse You are right, the quote is wierd. The most logical explanation is that Adolin for some reason doesn't count Kholin, Aladar, Sebarial or Roion people since a lot of those arrived before anyone else. In this case, it would mean that Sadeas, Hatham, Ruthar and Bethab were the four others, since Thanadal and Vamah stayed behind. Or Adolin counts in Kholin amd the others, and in that case, Sadeas and Hatham just sent out small scout forces.
  15. Sadeas, and maybe Amaram and Mraize, would probably do pretty well though.
  16. This is worth thinking about. The Shin secretly worshipping Odium. Dalinar, Sebarial, Aladar, Sadeas and Hatham are confirmed to be in Urithiru I think. Roions warcamp probably went there too. It could be that Adolin isn't counting Kholin, Sebarial, Aladar and Roion because they csme there first. If so, there are eight Highprinces in Urithiru right now.
  17. There has to be a reason for Stormfather to directly go "thats Odium" when hearing about the color from Dalinar though. I can buy that red is a phenomena (after all, it is seen on both Roshar and Scadrial, and Odium is most likely not on Scadrial). But this whole gold-thing... there has to be a connection between Odium and gold.
  18. And so, it turns out that Oathbringer is Sadeas unfinished diary.
  19. Is it possible that Ishar wrote it? He created the Knights Radiant after all, and is the patron of the Order of Bondsmiths. This is the Bondsmith book, and Dalinar is a bondsmith, and also the main flashback character. His sword was named after the book. Seems to fit together. My new theory: Ishar wrote Oathbringer, and it is about how the Oaths and the Knights Radiant works.
  20. Sounds very likely. Jasnah has to know where to find it and how to work it first though, so it might end up being Kaladin.
  21. I thought a bit more on the champion. As I said before, he looks storming badass, so I would be sad to see that it was just symbolism. I am also not necessarily convinced by the argument that the vision is created by Honors worst dreams. It would be pretty horrible if the champion started to wreck things, maybe win against Honors champion. Its not like the Rosharans automatically wins just because Odium names a champion. Furthermore, why should both the golden light and the Shardbearer symbolise Odium? The light seems very shard-y, the shardbearer, not so much. Why would Odium even be a red-eyed shardbearer in black, if his color is gold. Makes little sense. Because if both the shardbearer and the light are Odium, it means that the vision shows Odium behind Odium. Wierd. Also, @Bort I doubt May Aladar is Vin :-)
  22. Okay, my thoughts: *I am partly with @Pagerunner about the champion being Odium, and not an actual champion. At the same time, I think that the red-eyed figure in black shardplate with nine shadows is too epic to just be symbolism. And also, Dalinar feeling something familiar in the eyes. It could be the eyes of someone he knows. It could be the Thrill, or something more abstract. Wierd stuff. *Happy to see that there are nine Unmade. *Sadeas corpse was lying around for ages before his own soldiers found him. Lol. I am also hyped to see how Aladar will do as Highprince of Information, since I like his character. *Speaking of Aladar, wonder what the deal with his daughter is. Seems pointless to include her if she has no role in the narrative, so I bet she will be of some importance. *I was suprised to learn of the range-requirement of the squires. *Tefts knife-line was awesome. Edit: Was that Sadeas attempting to take women as sex-slaves at the end of the flashback-chapter? He is a disgusting pile of crem.
  23. Could Nightblood really gather up so much investiture that he became a Shard though? If that was generally possible, someone should have decided to create new Shards.
  24. In the hopes of returning the Heralds to this forum, I shall now put a fork in a toaster!
