Why does the 17th Shard kill Spotify?
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
I only get notifications when I have the page up on my screen, to clarify. When it comes to browser... I will admit that I really don´t know what browser means. is it the search engine? In that case, I think it is Google. -
[OB] Oathbringer Dust jacket and map!
Toaster Retribution replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Stormlight Archive
The back cover makes me think that we will learn the reason for the Recreance in this book, which in turn probably means a showdown between Mr. T and Dalinar, since T already knows the secret and is on his way to Urithiru. -
The Mechanics of Roshar’s Five Magic Systems
Toaster Retribution replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
This was an interesting read. I am not in agreement with you when it comes to the Focus of Roshar, as I believe the bonds to be the focus. Your ideas on Voidmagic are cool though. The Voidbringing fits quite nicely with an idea of my own, that everyone is a potential Voidbringer. Also, Void Knight is the coolest name I have heard today.- 2 replies

I am most likely imagining Axies as more smurfy (smurfy=blue) than he really is.

I mostly access the Shard on my phone, and I also like listening to music on Spotify, again on my phone (I don´t care about sound quality). However, every time I get a notification on the Shard, Spotify pauses itself. I have gotten used to it, and it is no problem really. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this occur and knows why it happens?

Dragonsteel chapter(s)
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Curiosities & Unpublished Works
Guys, what if Yolen is made of Dragonsteel? -
I consider Elantris to be much better than Warbreaker (which I am not that fond of to be honest). The political parts of Elantris are more interesting, and I love Hrathens character a lot. Overall, it was really solid and entertaining, and I am excited to see more of Sel in the Elantris sequels.

Eshonai is a Willshaper. It is a bit like R+L=J in ASoIaF. Everyone knows about it, but we haven´t yet seen it on page. I wouldn´t be surprised if Eshonai becomes a Radiant in this book. I am less sure about Ash though. She can be a Flashback POV without being a Dustbringer, I think. I would currently put Elhokar, Moash or Amaram as possible main Dustbringers. I feel like the Ash idea is based mostly on the fact that she is the odd one when it comes to KR-orders among the flashback characters, and that just isn´t evidence enough for me.

I don´t recall how the Purelake held out during normal Highstorms, but I guess the Everstorm surprised them just like everyone else. My guess would be that they are not overly happy right now, with wierd storms and the plague (cold). Hope Ishikk is still alive.

People are generally just happy or mindblown when things go in a different direction than speculated forever. Take the Voidbringers for example. We all thought that they would wreak havoc and kill stuff like they did at Narak , but they are just slaves on the run, without any wish to be murderous. And even if we don´t get payoff on a certain expectation, we will always get something else instead, that we never saw coming (like Dalinar suddenly remebering Evi in this chapter). These forums have been up and running since around 2010 (correct me if I´m wrong) and this far, we haven´t ruined anything by speculating, so I doubt its a big deal.

[OB] Could Odium's Champion win?
Toaster Retribution replied to Skyline's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, we have that beloved Death Rattle about the suckling child. There has been speculation about that the child is Odiums champion, and that Kaladin will have to kill it to win. If Kaladin is unable to do it, then Odium might win. -
oathbringer [OB] Oathbringer Epilogue
Toaster Retribution replied to Wax's topic in Stormlight Archive
It won't be Sadeas. Brandon can't resurrect anyone, and he has nothing to add to the story anymore. I don't really have a good idea of anyone else though. -
If anyone should be Batman, it should be Mraize, or another Ghostblood. It feels like their thing, and the villains need to be able to stand up to surgebinders.
-
Shallan creating nine shadows of herself would have more Odium-implications than the Unmade though. Nine is the number of Odium. I am not saying that everyone associated with the number nine in some way will automatically be controlled by Odium, but I do think that it is a possible way for Brandon to foreshadow stuff. We should not be entirely dismissive of the Shallans nine shadows idea. Crazy development of the idea, but what if each shadow Shallan creates will summon an Unmade. People are currently suspecting that an Unmade is the copycat murderer. Well, what if that Unmade is summoned by Veils shadow, which is the con woman/theif character. Veil is pretty twisted, and so are these murders. If this is true, and the copycat murders are an effect of Veil, then we might soon encounter an Unmade summoned by Brightness Radiant.

[OB] How good of condition is Odium in?
Toaster Retribution replied to Djarskublar's topic in Stormlight Archive
If Odium is wounded, then Cultivation would be too. Otherwise, she would just move in and finish him off. Furthermore, can a Shard be partially splintered? Maybe Honor, Ambition, Dominion or Devotion managed to smack off a piece of him or something? Is that possible? -
Shallan growing a Stormlight addiction sounds troubling. She is stacking problems right now. Looking forward to her arc a lot. Also, fabrials. I didn't know that they could do anything surges can do (thanks @Calderis). That is very intersting information. It could allow characters like Adolin or Mraize who lack a Nahel bond to be like Batman and best magic-powered individuals with technology.

Dragonsteel chapter(s)
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Curiosities & Unpublished Works
Isn't Dragonsteel where the Vessels come from? Anyone who thinks we see one of them in this chapter? -
I am Wyrn! Fear the might of my armies, and my evil monks!

I´ll vote @Steeldancer if he feels like doing this.

What if the spiked Fullborn-beaver managed to get a Nahel Bond? How many powers can we stack in one beaver?
-
What shall you name it?

Huh, thanks! I forgot about the fact that some people were awesome enough to piece together OBs back cover. I agree with you then that Eshonai is the most logical answer. It could be Moash though, just want to throw that out. Trying to murder the king was certainly ambitious, and there is speculation that he will get quite a lot of screen time (what Eshonais screen-time looks like will be a mystery until the book comes out). But yeah, it is most certainly her, since I have a hard time imagining Brandon switching characters.

Which traitor mention do you mean? The one in the Diagram? It is very unclear which group that phrase focuses on, and the most popular ideas seems to be Heralds, Radiants or Unmade. That said, I agree with you about something being off with Venli. She defenitely knew more than the others, and had her own (probably Odiums) agenda. I hope she is still alive.

[OB] Theory: the Voidbringers were....
Toaster Retribution replied to 11thorderknight's topic in Stormlight Archive
This idea has two problems. One is that Honor and Cultivation were lovers. I have a hard time seeing them starting to hate eachother. The other problem is the idea that Radiants are part Honor and part Cultivation. Lift, for example, is clearly more on the Cultivation-side of things, while Kaladin is of Honor. If Cultivation and Honor fought eachother, I feel like some orders, like the Edgedancers, would fight others, like the Windrunners.
