[OB] Rial - worldhopper?
Toaster Retribution replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agreed, Rial is odd. He reminded me a bit about Olem from Powder Mage in his attitude. It is fully possible that he is a worldhopper, but at the same time, every single wierdo in Stormlight can't be one, so maybe he is just what he says he is. Anyhow, I'm sure we will see more of him. -
I'm an Elantrian! Yay, finger magic!

Poor Ialai, no votes at all :-( -

[OB] Who's the Copycat Murderer?
Toaster Retribution replied to kiapet's topic in Stormlight Archive
I doubt this is a Herald (though I can suspect Ishar of anything right now). I don't think we should exclude Aimians though. We know little about them, and what we do know is wierd.- 90 replies

I know. I think I'll take a page from Shallans book and pretend to be someone else. A vacuum cleaner will do fine.

This is a good point. If it turns out this way, I would be happy with it.

I am not all that great when it comes to the workings of investiture, so I am unable to debate the first part of your post more than I already have. When it comes to Dalinars character problems, his curse and boon has been a source of much discussion, his wifes identity has been kept secret for two books, and we can clearly see that his visit to the Nightwatcher haunts him. I would say it is a pretty big issue.

Shouldn't the effects of this have taken place when Dalinar bonded Stormfather though? My other issue with the "it has to do with Stormlight/Bondsmith/general Radiancy" idea is that it seems to easy. One of Dalinars major problems, solved just like that? With no effort on Dalinars part, no repercussions, nothing. I don'by it, for story reasons.

Which are the other two? I will murder them to become the supreme toaster. I will find them and congratulate them for being awesome.

Didn't Legendary do Warcraft too? That is a good movie (and so is Great Wall). Anyway, I'd love a BSCU done right. I maintain that Stormlight needs to be a television series with the budget of Game of Thrones. I have a hard time seeing that happen, unless the Mistborn/Elantris/Warbreaker adaptions are REALLY successfull. We also have to consider the nature of the Box Office. A lot of stuff fails to make money nowadays, fantasy in particular. Warcraft, Great Wall, Gods of Egypt, King Arthur... even Pirates of the Caribbean is starting to have a hard time getting people to enter the cinema. Is it possible to make something like Mistborn a success? Yes it is, but it would require great marketing, bankable actors, a great director and favorable reviews. It can work, but it will be hard.

Can we please not call Bondsmiths BS. Some people around here call Brandon BS, and so you guys make my head spin when you use it on the Bondsmiths...

[OB] Who's the Copycat Murderer?
Toaster Retribution replied to kiapet's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Almighty is gone. The Heralds are gone. The Radiants are gone. The storming sewer system is gone. It wouldn't surprise me if Urithirus protection against Odium & Friends is gone as well.- 90 replies

[OB] Who do you miss the most?
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Rasha @What's a Seawolf? I edited the poll, and added some choices. I admit to forgetting about Jasnah and Wit. We have seen Lopen though, but it is so little that I decided to add him anyway. -
The Oathbringer Chapters are all amazing, but I thought I'd check which one of the not-yet-seen characters people miss the most. Vote and discuss!

Is this Peter Ahlstroms Investiture?
-
I think that there might be a whole lot of truth to this. We hardly know anything about the Old Magic (yet), but I have a hard time seeing anything other than marrying Navani as the reason for him suddenly remembering Evi. The problem I have with the Stormlight idea is that it isn't compelling. It feels a bit like a cheap fake-out. Dalinar can now use Stormlight, and so all his problems are solved, including his curse from the Old Magic. Also, does it even make sense that Stormlight can "heal" a curse/boon? A curse/boon seems to be a permanent effect caused by magic that might come from Cultivation. Would that be seen as a disease/wound/some kind of damage? And in that case, is Stormlight powerful enough to negate it?

[OB] Who's the Copycat Murderer?
Toaster Retribution replied to kiapet's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agreed with above posters. It is defenitely not Ialai, and there is something supernatural to it. I don't know if it is an Unmade directly, but something is very off. It could be someone under the influence of an Unmade/Odium too. Or something else entirely. Some kind of old monster that lurks inside Urithiru. For now, I'll be in the Unmade camp though.- 90 replies

When it comes to Shallan and her (ins)sanity, I fully expect her to get really messed up. This chapter really showed us where she is going. Stabbing, lies, unnatural worries... the big question is how she will get out of it? I seriously think that she will get involved with the Ghostbloods. She is becoming more like them for every chapter, and not because of their influence, but because of her own trauma.

If they make a movie/show of Stormlight, they have to shoot a scene of Ned being thrown off the cliff... of course, Ned will be played by Sean Bean in that scene.

My thoughts, without reading your posts (I will do that after posting this): -If I understand Stormfather correctly, besting his champion won't defeat him forever, but just hold him back a while. That was new. -Stormfather can laugh. Huh. -Rial was pretty cool, I liked his character. Hope we see more of him later. -Zahel/Vasher is back, and so are his color-themed metaphors. -The Dalinar vs Kadash scene was really cool. Looks like the Vorin Church story will be a big one. And Brandons religious discussion is great, as always. I like Kadash too. He is a good character, despite lack of page-time. -DALINAR REMEMBERS HIS WIFE!!!! STORMS! -The Irali are potential antagonists. Interesting. Wonder how Adolin will take to leaving his plate (though he could just take Renarins, so it shouldn't be a biggie). -Voidspren. I am not yet convinced that the yellow spren is of Odium. In that case, it seriously needs to get better at its job. Also, the free Parshmen are not Voidbringers as previously thought, and so their spren might not be a Voidspren. Maybe Odium sent the wrong storm or something? -I defenitely feel for the Parshmen too. -Shallans identities will defenitely be a problem. If Pattern of all people tells you that your lies are messed up, then you should probably give it serious consideration. -Pattern, by the way. Pattern is the best. He likes Adolin, he is chill when it comes to dead Shardblades, he is accepting. Syl should learn from him. -These murders are way creepy. I am starting to doubt the two major theories (Ialai or Ghostbloods) right now.

Wasn't Stormfathers voice described as thunder or something?
