Actually Forgery uses tons of Investiture. It's definitely end-positive. But anyway, any Selish magic is end-positive as it relies on channeling Investiture from the Dor through symbols. If Investiture is obtained from nowhere or somewhere else - it's end-positive. If Investiture obeys equivalent exchange (charging metalminds with your body, the amount of Breaths is fixed in isolated frame of reference - nobody being conceived on nobody dying) it's end-neutral. If you end up with less Investiture in isolated frame of reference it's end-negative. Person A had 100 units of Investiture, you spike them, only like 70 units make it to the spike - even if you made all preparations you could have done, such as the process of spiking being made in a bathtub full of blood with virtually zero time between spiking the donor and recipient.

I disagree. It doesn't matter how much of Preservation you have - the "right Preservation threshold" you talk about - you still have to Snap. Elend's Allomancy is no counterargument here - he either had cracks from back then when he was ritually beaten (but did not become an Allomancer because of lack of sufficient amount of Investiture) or actually his experience at the Well can count as he was stabbed and bleeding to death which definitely would count as traumatic experience for purpose of Snapping. Your point about Hemalurgy or medallions is also no counterargument. The parts of Spiritweb that end up in nicrosilminds or in spikes are taken from people who already Snapped and established an Allomantic Connection to Preservation. We have no cases of potential Allomancers pre-Snapping being spiked or filling nicrosilminds. Although that is a good question to ask: Would a spike taken from a person who - upon Snapping - would become an Allomancer grant Allomancy? I suspect that in that case the Hemalurgic donor would have to snap or perhaps the Hemalurgy-induced trauma on your soul would be enough.

Beat-up books and why that is usually a good sign

Go easy on your back and just bring an actual brick. It would be lighter -
The answer to the Hoid question I was thinking about is here:

Weeds keep growing Storm mages can manipulate air currents and sea currents... But there is another kind of current, right? Electric current. And what is storm? Rain, wind and lightning. -

There is a ship operated by three Awakeners who Command all the ropes. Another crew has a Lurcher who (with some modifications made to the rigging) is basically worth ten people (this was actually the first seed of the idea, back when I posted in some Twinborn jobs thread). -

Ideas are like weeds. Before you know it, they got roots and they're growing... See, there was a thread about what we would want in the Cosmere. I mentioned I'd want to see a Shardworld that is almost entirely water, high seas, naval battles, legendary monsters, pirates, worldhopper crews... and magic system based around air and water currents. I just realized I started developing those storm mages... for example, storm mage surfer could ride the wave for miles... -

Y'know, there is a transcript of the interview And since White Sand is happening before Elantris (source) and Darksiders already had guns by then, I'd say they were really far ahead even of Sel... but then Autonomy did the thing.

Yeah, but - like you said - most people just want to know. While it's true random people on the Internet do not have that authority as the author himself, I happen to know of an official Brandon Sanderson fansite... what was it... Eighteenth Splinter?... Nineteenth Sliver?... something like that?... maybe they could weigh in with these answers? I don't know, maybe I'm biased because I run Polish fansite and it has already stopped being weird for me when people ask me things about Cosmere. For me, these things just happen. But I think we - as the 17th Shard - could do something about these polls (and now I don't mean raiding the poll to get to ask our questions but answering what people ask).

Actually (if MAG cover is any indication), Inquisitor axes resemble real-life obsidian weapons (wikipedia). If I'm not mistaken, bone blades were used in prehistory. With Scadrial's drive to avoid metal blades there's no reason not to turn towards bone blades. I'm gonna ask Brandon about bone knives sometime.
-
But it could be. I mean, I am not saying everyone should be reciting WoBs from their memory and knowing the most obscure parts of Realmatic theory. But we should actively work so that the basics, the bare minimum is known. Sometimes I browse Cosmere reddits and I chim in to explain why Radiants have to be broken first and turns out people don't know it's similar to Snapping or how Snapping works or what Spiritweb is. These polls are an opportunity for us to share our knowledge. People are asking a lot of things, but only few questions make it to the polls and from those only one gets anwered by Brandon. But what about all these other questions? If we know answers, we should be there sharing them.

While it's true there are Splinters of Odium or Endowment (or Cultivation for that matter), they don't cound as Splintered Shards. Splintered Shard is a one who was killed and it's power Splintered, like it happened with Selish Shards or Honor.

Obsidian is so rusting sharp that it would be a clearly superior choice to normal glass. However, I always wondered why nobody used bone knives.
-
@Pagerunner, that's why I'm saying it's a wasted opportunity. If we know the answers, we should be there sharing them. What's the use for our knowledge if we're not doing anything with it?

I know, right? That's like the basic Cosmere knowledge for Stormlight Archive, along with Vasher and Nightblood. Simply googling will get you results.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird

And, once again, my hope is crushed. I could make it in time before the next Sunday... but that would be if there were two episodes left. Well, no need to rush now... -
So Brandon is doing these FAQ Fridays... and truth be told, I'm disappointed. Why? See the results of this weeks poll: (here are full texts questions) We know answers to three of these questions and two of them are on the first and second place! That's o u t r a g e o u s. Meanwhile, the one truly interesting question (burning Shardplate... that one should be phrased differently so it's about Mistborn Radiant burning their own Shardplate though) came in third and the other question we do not know answer to (glyphs) got the least votes. We're missing on the opportunity here, folks. We should mobilize the Shard to vote... and we should answer the questions we know answers to. For example like that: BTW, I think I have read somewhere that Hoid just stole himself from a book or something but that was in-universe.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird

hm... 35 episodes left to the season 5... when do those two air? (I avoid looking anything up in fear of spoilers) I can be fast... That's what I'm trying to avoid - I watched Gravity Falls after it ended and I didn't get to share the excitement of waiting for a new episode or anyything... -
Would I be excited if they were just gonna host the old series?

I hope I get to the season 5 before it ends. I'm watching Samurai Jack for the first time and I'm only on season 2... -
OK, I'm looking for a WoB I'm not quite sure exists. It was about inheritance of Allomancy - that specific powers are not inherited, only general Allomancy.
