There is a direct quote from WoK about Syl and Kal discussing bindspren and then there is talk if windspren cause the wind or if the wind attracts windspren and if rotspren cause infection of wounds or if they're simply attracted to it.

I suppose there is an issue with how the person views himself, because self-regard (self-view? self-awareness? Help me!) influences Cognitive Aspect and then Cognitive Aspect also shapes Spiritual (I am not sure about that). The other twin would have to be convinced or even brainwashed to think he is his brother. ...Hm, has anybody asked Brandon about cloning people? If we get a perfect clone and then upload the mind of the original in him... (I know, I'm talking Fourth Scadrial Era here with that sci-fi)

Paired Shards and Honour's Opposite
Oversleep replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think we should back away from finding direct opposites and instead focus on finding groupings - like quadrants in Allomancy. I saw someone naming these groups, like "natural forces" (Preservation, Ruin, I guess Cultivation) and "higher concepts" like Odium, Honor, Devotion.. -
I believe there is a WoB about burning spikes - it won't do any good to you. I am no good at finding WoBs and currently there aren't any Theorydancers in my Knights Theoretic, so... I hope somebody could provide a source.

To quote Elxa Dal (Wise Man's Fear): But, on the other hand...The sun approaches the horizon. The Everstorm comes. The True Desolation. The Night of Sorrows. So Jasnah would have ignored something as irrelevant as being rude or not, if she needed to ask the question.
-
Well, if Brandon only RAFO'd those questions about relevant and important things, we would know what is and what isn't important. I guess he needs to RAFO also those he doesn't feel like answering and which at the same time may be relevant to the plot, no matter how insignificantly. So I say it's not that we will get some Ferring twins or something like that - the answer could reveal some details he didn't want to release yet.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned state should keep away from Breaths. And it's all just a hypothetical situation. The tax would be linear with First Heightening being tax free. Nothing about taxing the rich more. Another possibility would be taxing only transfers of Breaths with inheritance excluded. DISCLAIMER: I, Oversleep, Holder of Theoryblades, am against any possible government which would impose taxes on BioChroma and I will oppose said government to my last...Breath.

I think we can safely assume that nobody has sworn all five oaths because we would have seen living Shardplate
-
Didn't risk looking at the content of this topic, but if it's full of spoilers, shouldn't it be in the spoilers board?
-
Well, of course there would be tax-free allowance of your own Breath and, let's say, up to nine additional. If this horrible government want to continue existing, it would target only those who are rich since they're a minority. Maybe taxing only above the first Heightening?
-
WoR spoiler We don't know if the number of spoken oaths is correlated with the avalaible abilities - Lift was able to use both Abrasion and Progression (even the Regrowth which was stated to be hard) before speaking the Second Ideal. Kaladin used Reverse Lashing before speaking the First Ideal, Full and Reverse Lashing before speaking the Second and used all of them before speaking the Third. Even getting Shardblade is uknown to be linked with specific Ideal - Kaladin gained it with the Third, as well as squires, while Shallan used it since speaking the First Ideal (probably). We don't know enough about Jasnah to draw conclusions.

But didn't she WoR spoiler

Colours! I just realised something truly horrible... TAXES. Imagine that the government makes a tax on Breaths - if there is a passing of, let's say, 50 Breaths, five of them go to the state. If you hold a significant number of Breaths, you must give some % of them yearly to the state. ... On the other hand, State Awakeners (FMA anyone?) would be paid in Breaths, so it's not that bad.

Paired Shards and Honour's Opposite

Devotion and Dominion, huh? Shard of BDSM (I think I saw it somewhere on the 17thShard, I'm not sure) -
I wonder what would happen if they were Returned... they would have Splinters of two different Shards.

Brandon Tweaking Words Of Radiance
Oversleep replied to Kelsier Kenobi's topic in Stormlight Archive
About Szeth's death... Well, the way I see it it's what choice Kaladin makes: kill the Assassin spare the Assassin If he chooses the first option, then he kills him as he did in the original version. It fits with the story, he does that in the heat of the fight, Szeth is a threat to everything he wants to protect; "you have to kill to protect" - Kaladin did kill to protect, so why shouldn't he kill the Assassin in White? If he chooses to spare him, and then is like "I won't kill him, I will just disarm him by cutting his hand...- Oh! His Stormlight his gone, his Lashings don't work anymore, we're at clouds level and there are some highstorms colliding... Of course I could just Lash him up, we're close enough and then dive for this Blade my spren is yelling at me about, it's not like this Blade gonna walk away...Naaah, I'll let him fall, I doesn't care" then it doesn't feel like Kaladin at all. The moment he sees Szeth's Stormlight is gone and his Lashings broken, he knows that Szeth won't survive the fall, not to mention the highstorms. So not Lashing him means effectively killing him and he just decided against killing him. It's like he wanted Szeth dead, but didn't want to be the one to deliver the blow. Letting him fall in the highstorm was just a way to keep his hands clean. What's worse, then he suddenly isn't sure if Szeth survived or not, so maybe any second Szeth will regain consciousness and resummon the Blade? And then what he will tell those he sought to protect? "I let the Assasin escape even though I could have put an end to the threat he was"? P.S. Death by Shardblade is definitely less painful than death by Highstorm and of all people, Kaladin, you should know that. -
I just read the changes Brandon did in WoR... And this particular quote is in line with my theory that Stone Shamans bond with Honorblades. It seems that they even use them! Before: Now:

...Guys, maybe start a topic about Szeth? Going back to Releasers: If Abrasion lets you both increase and decrease friction, could Division let not only divide, but also merge? I'm thinking rapid diving and merging back object which could make some friction, while simultaneously increasing friction with Abrasion.

As I see it, it's more "I haven't really thought about it, but why not?". Given that she can burn her fat reserves for Stormlight proves there shouldn't be any problem with the trick we're talking about. Unless there are some problems we do not know about. I know it's not the same as NicroCompounding Investiture, it's a workaround. I think what Lift does is drawing in Stormlight in the process of metabolization of food into sugar - it's the same as burning metals. As for NicroCompounding Breath, let's agree to disagree - we already derailed the topic enough

Helaran wasn't bonded to a spren.

Now we're just arguing semantics - burning a metalmind gives you a tenfold of what was stored inside, the effect is as if you drained a metalmind with a ten times more stored attribute. If Awakener/Feruchemist who ate a Lerasium bead stored some of his Breath, which is as well part of himself as luck or connections, or Identity, even, then he would have a metalmind with Breath stored in it. Then he would proceed to burn it and get a tenfold what was stored inside - more Breath. If you can store different senses in tin, and Compound them one at the time, you should be able to store different kinds of Investiture in nicrosil. Um, no? There is a huge difference between a Shard's magic and Shard itself. WoR worlhopping spoiler: And with that analogy with electricity and different receivers, Compounding lets you hack into a normal receiver machine and plug in it another one, with is compatible with it. And when you turn the first one, only the second one will work. The problem is to find such a "second machine" which can be plugged into the "normal receiver". The only assumption we're making here is that you can store Breath in nicrosilmind and when you tap it, you also get Breath out of it. As for my idea with Compounding Investiture, just spike Lift with double bendalloy. It's kind of going even more around, since she would be Compounding nutrition which is then transformed into Stormlight, but we're effectively getting more Stormlight here than we put in (or rather food equivalent of Stormlight). Then she would Edgedance all around battlefield, healing and providing more fuel for Radiants. ... Can you ask Nightwatcher to become a Fullborn?
-
That's the same issue as with Compounding Feruchemy - "where does this extra feruchemical charge come from?". Feruchemy is already transforming Allomantic power into Feruchemical charge. If Endowment magic is fine with Returned feeding on Stormlight, I don't see why Compounding Breath wouldn't work.

I just realised how useful Windrunners and Skybreakers would be if Roshar gets someday to space program. I think Skybreakers would be more of judges and lawyers with their "I will put the law before all else" and Windrunners would be police officers: police is about protecting the people, right? Elsecallers would work as teleporters, I guess. But that's not what I thought about - because action of books is set in the times of conflict and change, we rarely see what's life there like, when nothing plot-worthy happens. No Desolations, no Reod, no uprising in the court of gods, no wars and no end of the world. On Scadrial in the First Era we got a nice look in TFE, but in WoA and HoA war is ravaging the land and end of the world is approaching... In the Second Era I heard some Metalborn work as the law enforcers and there is some university...? Coinshots sometimes work as messengers...? What I want to see addresed in Third Era is in the first post. On Roshar, we won't ever get to see what life was like before Recreance... On Sel, we got this whole Reod thing going on, but there is hope with the sequel. On Nalthis (since magic is so common) it's what we've already seen.

Moogle, I believe that the point is that Nicrosil Compounder receives Breath and stores it in nicrosilmind. Then effectively that nicrosilmind is charged with Breath, so burning it would release more Breath. Just like Feruchemical charge overwrites the natural metal charge, the Breath does the same.
