Their copperminds were full of knowledge, but I doubt they would store regular memories there. Just anything they find worthy of remembering (Elend's speech, for example). Also, I doubt each Keeper would know much, the basic strategy for conspiracies is that each member doesn't know much about others, so when he will be broken at tortures he won't give away where they are. You can't tell what you don't know.

How sure we can be of this date? I mean, given the record of previous books, what are the odds of the date shifting earlier/later?

"More Than A Feeling" by Boston from "Boston". But that's right now, I recently listen to various OSTs as I'm learning. Avatar The Legend Of Aang OST and The Legend of Korra OST, The Witcher OST, The Witcher: Wild Hunt OST (why haven't I listened to Assassins Of Kings yet?). Also, you should check out Omega - The Girl With Pearl Hair.

Would the Cube rotate? Because rotation of the planet is responsible for flattening of the planet.

That line is awesome! As for the atium, I'd say it could be a metal with impossible configuration (some combinations of protons, electrons and neutrons are impossible IIRC) but Investitural overlay keeps it in place.

Try to randomly mash your keyboard in an thoughtful, precise manner. Remember to use space every now and then. Look at the words you produced. Add more vovels/consonants as you see fit. Optionally cross some of the produced names together. This method is for inventing on the spot. However, to plan long-distance, write down every combination of sounds (or even words) you like. Then you will have a base of syllables to work with. EDIT: For example, Rothfuss may have found the word "melody"... well, melodic. As the character in question was to be a master of Names and the way he spoke was quite different, that was to become basis of his name. So he chopped off "m", changed the end of the word into something resembling an actual name (like that of the god Odin, perhaps) and he got "Elodin". Voila! This is also speculation, of course.

One movie in no way can do justice to any SA books. I'd rather see it as a series... probably animated one, since it would be easier than all those special effects and greenscreens.

"So, Kynedath, should we just agree on a draw? It wouldn't be fair for me to brag about winning if there was a third person involved in our game. What would you say we head to the bar and drink something?" Oversleep produces a small flame on the palm of the hand and flips it around his fingers, similarly to a coin trick. "I know a few very... spectacular drinks."- 86 replies

We know it comes from Preservation... and that's all we know. We also know it's nowhere to be found in the books, because we "didn't miss anything".

As I was thinking about various Metalborn powers, Allomantic pewter struck me as one of the most versatile (this may be related to the fact that I was helping out in the garden and carrying some heavy stuff ). Let's forget about overtapping for a moment, as I suppose you don't usually need to move at sound speed or something... Let's stick to regular tapping, like x2. Allomantic pewter gives equivalent of Feruchemical: pewter steel brass (I remember something about Ham going around in sleevless jacket in winter) gold (as I suspect that the extent of healing we usually see with Bloodmakers is serious overtapping) probably cadmium probably bendalloy it doesn't give you full bronze, but at least physical half (as Feruchemical bronze let's you to offset both physical and mental fatigue, while Allomantic pewter deals only with physical) It's about a third of Feruchemy powers. I know gold is useful mainly for quick regeneration, but constantly burning pewter would help you to recover way faster than regular humans. What's more, it gives powers which Feruchemy can't: improves balance improves durability (if it's hard to break your bones, then you don't need that much healing, do you?) It's quite a lot, I'd say. And it comes with the advantage of all Allomantic powers - you don't need to store. On the other hand, there is only that much flaring it, so it's a trade-off. No running on walls, unfortunately. So a Pewterarm Full Feruchemist is a force to be reckoned with. And I'm not talking about Compounding strenght - you can store the attributes I listed and balance it with burning pewter. You can store more health than normal Feruchemist. You can store more speed than normally possible. The list goes on.

Can the bands be considered the actual Bands of Mourning? (BoM spoilers)
Oversleep replied to DeadFencer's topic in Mistborn
On the other hand, he created a number of failsafe plans - he didn't think he could have been killed, but he planned for it anyways. Setting up the bands could have been a way for people to be able to defeat agents of Ruin - Inquisitors and koloss. Of course, if only he knew he was making puppets for Ruin, that is. He didn't. -
If you divide the number of metalborn by 32 (assuming even spread of metalborn powers) you get the number of metalborn of given power. So N/32 of Lurchers, N/32 of Coinshots and so on... And N/32 of Skimmers, N/32 of Steelrunners and so on... But some of those are the same people. You're counting Wax both for being a Coinshot and Skimmer.

I don't really think that mixing the powers made them weaker - it made them more common, though. Mixing Feruchemical lines with Allomantic bloodlines would help to slow down the weakening of the Allomantic blood, but it won't stop it. It's quite strange: On every major Shardworld magic is quite popular by itself (Sel; Roshar is one of the easiest to become magic user; Nalthis). But on Scadrial we had only one tribe of natural born Full Feruchemists and Allomancers are very rare, Snapping was hard and there were only Mistings which probably weren't strong. Now, Lerasiumborns introduced strong Allomantic bloodlines which made Allomancy more popular and strong, but eventually it's going to breed out (after 1000 years even Mistborns were weaker than Mistings after introduction of Lerasium bloodlines; TenSoon said that back then even Soothers/Rioters could control kandra, but now even Mistborn as strong as Vin needed duraluminum, not to mention the difference in stregth between her and Elend). But imagine world without those Lerasiumborns - Allomancy would be very rare, far rarer than for example Surgebinding.

We have to also account for Twinborn, so it would be less. You could divide by 32 only if there were no Twinborns. By dividing the Metalborn by 32 you're counting Twinborn twice.

Random Stuff VIII: The Admin Special
Oversleep replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
As Lev Grossman in Magicians said: "Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from miracle." Going a little BTW, I'm a little sad that in works set in urban fantasy there are rarely any religious characters. I know the topic can be hard and authors may not want to do it, but... c'mon. Apart from a little episode in Grossman's Magicians where we have a Catholic mage and from quite a number of going on it in Lukyanienko's Watch series where some Others are also believing in God ("Bible says that those who do magic are damned, period." vs "But we're helping people, I think God is merciful" is one example)... I find this trope almost nonexistent. That's partly why in the story I'm developing I want the main character to be deeply believing... but if he can see people getting attacked by monsters, why wouldn't he help them? Wasn't prophets also using magic? But their power was coming from God. Maybe his power is also a gift to protect people? Or maybe he will be damned? What about confession? How can he not mention magic? How he can mention it so the priest would understand? And so on.- 1963 replies

But on the other hand, what determination would you have to stop doing it? It is far easier to just continue what you were doing instead of making all these pointless decisions...

It actually doesn't grant any combat experience - Stormlight heightens your attributes (speed, strenght, reaction time and so on), so for somebody who already was talented at fighting... it makes them One Man Army, like Kaladin. I doubt Shallan knows how to fight just by the virtue of Nahel Bond. Now, I want to see Dalinar The Blackthorn, the famed genius warrior with Stormlight.

Okay, I was recently thinking about the whole Preservation vs Ruin plans (Terris prophecies, setting up the atium Mistings and so on)... Was this explained why did Preservation spread out as the mists in the first place? What were Heroes Of Ages to do once they taken up the power of the Well (as Rashek didn't do a very good job)?

Yeah, but that was time between Desolations. What if a Surgebinder shows up during Desolation? I doubt they won't send him to fight, as they need everyone they have, but on the other hand, sending untrained Surgebinder to die in the first battle is a waste. They probably give him a crash course so he would know what he is doing and how to do it. They may not have the time to give full combat training, but they can at least give some tips on SUrgebinding.
