MAGEOCRACY I am toying with the idea of how would society react to a global coming out of some masqueraded society (let's say, mages). Not Reckoners like, they're not evil but are gonna influence a lot of politics. For example, let's say it starts like this: two countries are rubbing each other the wrong way (#totallyNotDrawingInspirationFromAroundTheWorld) and it's not long before armed conflict arises. Mages do a quick major summit, decide it's time to reveal the magic to the world, establish a cooperation and just before a war outbreaks the armies see superhumans dropping from the sky and ordering them to go back or else. How is the rest of the world gonna react when warlords in third world countries are getting assassinated by superhumans? How are first-world countries react when an organization of unkillable people with mystic powers says "We're not coercing you to obey us or anything, but we'd really like you to not do this. How about we do this peacefully? We want to keep are relationship peaceful; how about you?". (Note: one organization for a country, more or less. It's not like there is one global-wide. There's gonna be a shift in the power play as the mages are now playing the first fiddle.) How is society gonna react to "those people with cool powers fighting actual monsters"? That's, like, celebrity level 9000. Especially when they have good PR specialists hired. No way I could ever write something like this. But I'd really want to read something like that.

The Elemental Tetrahedron: a Magic System
Oversleep replied to Pagerunner's topic in Creator's Corner
I love it. I mean, it's Bionicle inspired a lot of magic stuff math, lots of math. And geometry. What's there not to love? Isn't Balance striding a little into Time territory? I mean, sensing the repercussions et cetera is similar to future-sight. -
A Twinborn computer, if you will.

Would Full Lashing work in vacuum? (I mean, we're not sure whether it really works by manipulating atmospheric pressure) EDIT (since I see no need to write another post down there): I hope three years have moved it into non_RAFO theoritory

Yeah, but I think that a Full Knight Radiant in Shardplate and pumped full of Stormlight could just break a normal bow by trying to draw it. So Fabrialbow is the answer (also it increases speed of flight and range immensely).
-
A lot of people speculating on this whole Shardbow thing forget something simple: There is a giant, fabrial-enhanced bow only a Shardbearer can draw. Sadeas used one back in WoK when Elhokar was attacked by a chasmfiend. So a Radiant could just carry such a bow and turn his spren into Shardarrow. With the ability to instantly summon/desummon Shardweapon it turns basically into a machine gun.

From SH we know that somebody has to be Connected to a Shard to take it up - Kelsier couldn't Ascend to Preservation. BUT: (emphasis not mine) Am I missing some information which makes that clear?

Bendalloy, cadmium savants and Compounders
Oversleep replied to Asasasyn in White's topic in Mistborn
Marsh said that with enough practice a Seeker can say not only which metals are burned, but also how fast and how long will they last. I think he may have been refering to the effects of savantism, as many Seekers became savants without even knowing it. Vin duraluminium burned bronze and could sense which emotions Breeze was Soothing, so I guess it can also be done by bronze savant. -
It's worth noting that usually all kinds of sailing-related terms bleed over to shipping. You can say that a ship sailed away, or sunk, or that a ship fired canon (it means it became canon) and so on. There's a also ship-to-ship combat... I'm not sure whether there is something about pirates. It might be, I wouldn't be surprised.

Why Mistborn or Full Feruchemists did not have "mixing effects"?
Oversleep replied to Oversleep's question in Cosmere Q&A
I'm not sure - remember when in BoM Wax fights Coinshots in Set's hangar? He threw one of Ranette's Hackballs to enemy Coinshot on purpose - he caught it and in that moment Wax shot him dead, while saying something like "You shouldn't drop your Allomantic shield even to catch a shiny toy". I guess he what he meant by Allomantic shield is basically steel bubble. -
I'm dying of laughter.

@Cognizantastic, that's awful. I can't offer any advice on fighting devilish rumor-machines, but I want to assure you that your fury is righteous and you have every reason to be angry. Good luck with the whole thing. -
Why Mistborn or Full Feruchemists did not have "mixing effects"?
Oversleep replied to Oversleep's question in Cosmere Q&A
Steel bubble is just an advanced trick of steel savants. Brandon says (in Annotations for AoL IIRC) that he wanted to keep the most impressive feats for Mistings, as Mistborn did not delve so deeply into individual metals. -
Could Nightblood be reforged? Without any negative side effects as damaging his mind or corrupting his Command?

A trailer for a film reminded me of this and now I can't stop listening to it over and over again: EDIT: Since my dad has a (really old) mixtape, now I'm not listening to one song over and over. I listen to a bunch of songs over and over. Every single one is great.

My best friend is leaving for a semester of Erasmus on Monday. Today we all went out to get together one last time. I miss him already - he's more of a brother to me than a friend. The first time we 'met' was when my and his parents (who are friends) took us in our baby carriagies (around 20 years ago, I guess) to a party and we know each other ever since. We're close friends since six years ago. It's gonna be quite a different semester at uni without dropping by between classes and meeting up and talking and playing games together and everything. I'm not even sure why am I posting this here. It's not like I need advice on anything; I just needed to vent it somewhere. -
Why Mistborn or Full Feruchemists did not have "mixing effects"?
Oversleep replied to Oversleep's question in Cosmere Q&A
We do not know anything about the Twinborn effects apart from the fact they exist. -
We've got another one.
-
Those two characters you talk about - they don't exist. There was a group of rebels, led by one of Ham's Pewterarms. That Thug drives the first spear through TLR and then, after TLR ignores him and walks by, takes spear of one of his men and stabs TLR again. And then an Inqusitor slaughters them.
-
We don't know anything either way.

The final fight against Vanishers. They're shooting only aluminium. Aluminium bullets are deflected normally.

Why Mistborn or Full Feruchemists did not have "mixing effects"?
Oversleep replied to Oversleep's question in Cosmere Q&A
@hoidhunter, I am not talking about how powers are useful together. I'm talking more like "Lightweavers have Illumination/Transformation and the effect of that are their Memories". Not how useful it is to have powers related to changing both reality and others' perception of it. -
Alternate History Problems—Help Please?
Oversleep replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Creator's Corner
Necessity calls for actions that would not have been taken otherwise. So if they got people with superpowers, I think that in the end they'd hire them, especially if they turn out to be useful. I can't talk about the rest, since I know almost nothing about American history, but keep that in mind. -
I found this wirtten with a pernament marker on the back of the chair in front of me in the tram :
