I didn't understand the debt explanation either, but your talking about it made me think of a possible explanation that makes sense to me. They call it a "debt", but if you think about it more like a savings account (because it does earn interest) then the in book explanation makes sense. So the merchants are keeping an account for the Sand Masters, which the Sand Masters can call upon whenever. However the merchants don't actually have that much money (or it's a sizable amount of their wealth). So when Vey is giving his personal money to the Sand Masters, they're turning around and depositing it the account, which raises how much interest needs to be paid (thus making the "debt" ever increasing). Definitely some logical jumps, but at least it makes sense to me now.

I just got done reading White Sands Vol 3, and I audibly yelled "WHAT!?" at the epilogue. I believe that Hoid is there specifically because of Baon's display of Sand Mastery. As far as we know, it's the first time a Darksider has displayed any ability for Sand Mastery (mainly because they were never tested, and discounting Kenton who is half Darksider). It is possible that Hoid's important event sense told him to be there at that specific time.

Radiants had tvs or computer screens and electricity

No idea...I'm envisioning the teleportation bays of Star Trek, which had circles on floor and ceiling. Probably not what they're for though tbh. -

Or maybe just landing spaces for incoming Elsecallers? i.e. a standardized place to always keep clear. -
The issue is that it takes constant power to remain younger. Feruchemy requires a "battery". For Atium (aging), you charge the battery with youth by spending time older. This is normally a 1:1 ratio, e.g. spend 1 month time 1 year older and you can spend 1 month time 1 year younger. With compounding, all that happens is that you can take your power storage and multiply it, there's still storage, but you don't have to spend as much time Older. (Burning a metalmind does release power of the same type, but it is at a constant rate. whereas drawing from a metalmind can be done at different rates) Therefore, de-aging yourself to 20yrs old is not a one and done thing. It constantly requires power. So you could do what you're saying (de-age to 20, age naturally to 40), but you'd still require power. It would be *less* power than trying to stay 20 that whole time, but it wouldn't be zero power. From what I know of Compounding (i.e. what's in the Coppermind article), TLR never needed to worry about running out of power. He just had to worry about his battery being ripped away from him (which, spoilers, is exactly what happened).

SH being Mistborn: Secret History. I will add onto this to just say that Sanderson's recommendation for reading SH is after Bands of Mourning, but you can read it after you are done with Hero of Ages (i.e. book 3 of Era 1). Depending on your reading speed, you could always take a break with something else, eventually get to Era 2 Mistborn, then re-read Era 1, then read SH.

I mean, he is a Brightlord from the Sadeas dominance and we have heard of him. But it could be Laral instead, based on how their area in Hearthstone is run. Additionally, Roshone has been proven to be a schemer in a bad way, so I'm not really on board with his promotion. Speculation based on future readings:

You are correct that this is tied to Defending Elysium. I'll continue precedence and spoiler tag this discussion. (Caveat: I haven't read DE since before Skyward came out, so my terms may not be specific to what is used in world)

Interesting point, since we know the Lord Ruler didn't hate Feruchemy, he just didn't want Feruchemy and Allomancy mixing. They Synod was not a threat to the Lord Ruler at all, so long as they stayed secluded.

@robardin I somehow completely forgot about the scene / recollection of when Marsh became an Inquisitor. Definitely seems like most of his spikes were new.

I'm not sure about the rest of your post, but this is something I'm pretty sure I remember: when an Inquisitor died, their spikes were kept in blood which reduced or eliminated the decay of the power. I believe we saw the blood in Secret History, and there's a WoB or annotation about blood reducing the decay. Couldn't quick find a specific WoB, but the first few results in this search imply blood will completely stop Hemalurgic decay.

I agree this is a possibility, but I don't quite believe it. He couldn't make Spensa his pilot because before he could only make certain decisions on his own. Other decisions had to be made by his pilot, such as shooting weapons and changing pilots. Spensa convinced M-Bot that he could change his pilot on his own, and M-Bot finally relented towards the end. Now that he is OK with changing his pilot on his own, if Spensa were to die, he could make Rodge his pilot.

Nice. I didn't remember that Cobb's first name is Matthew.
-
Interesting point about Cobb (is Cobb is first name?) and Judy (and Zeen): their call names don't start with the first letter/sound of their first names like all of the new recruits do.

Dark is a German TV show that is currently on US Netflix. It's got two seasons and a very complicated relationship web, and parentage isn't always clear. I highly recommend checking it out. It is a bit grim, and because it's Netflix where "anything" goes I'll also throw out a nudity warning (some, but not a lot) (i.e. don't watch it in public).

Someone has been watching too much Dark.

Not sure about the game you're talking about, but I do think there's going to be a Stormlight Archive flavored version of a newer game: Call to Adventure. I kickstarted the original, with a promised Name of the Wind expansion. One of the updates mentions art direction for a Stormlight Archives expansion has begun (which does mean the actual release is probably still a ways away).

Fair enough. Never looked into it. My mental image will probably still be the pitbull / bulldog mix though. (Just like I incorrectly view Kelsier with dark hair (he has blonde hair!)).

I agree with @Quantus, I believe that making an "illusion" of shardplate that is solid is exactly how a Lightweaver gets Shardplate. We still don't know what real shardplate is (i.e. that worn by Radiants), but I doubt it's a physical object like the (for lack of a better term) "dead" Shardplate that is basically the only kind we've seen (i.e. there isn't some spren Quartermaster doling out Shardplate when a Radiant reaches a certain ideal). Similar to how Radiant Shardblades are their spren taking physical form, and "dead" Shardblades are spren stuck in that physical form. Therefore it could make sense that Lightweaver Shardplate is them being able to make a physical "illusion" of pure investiture. If any of the "dead" Shardplate came from Lightweavers, it's possible that it is stuck in phsyical form much like the "dead" Shardblades are.

I've always pictured him like a large pitbull maybe, but more bulldog as well? A pitbull / bulldog mix, if you will. Like this, but even larger.

I asked Brandon about Katarotam during the Skyward Reddit AMAs, didn't get much from him though There's also this slightly older WoB that mentions Katarotam. At this point, my money is on us not getting more information on Katarotam. The name is only mentioned once, not just by Kaladin, but by anyone. I honestly think the name was supposed to have been removed during drafts, but never was. I'm not holding my breath for Katarotam to be important or make an appearance.
-
This is just a guess, but I would assume that Brandon at least knew that Hoid took a bead. Brandon may not have known he was going to write that scene, but from what I've seen of Brandon's process, he knows more about the character's actions than is published.
-
I couldn't figure out the second book either, but I really like the idea of a lerasium bead. The broken thing around it would then be the clay that rings the bead.

Just found out about restriction about similar to your name (Is this something that's an in-world restriction, or just a Sanderson restriction. Seems odd it wouldn't have been mentioned when they were picking them). Anyway, it just so happens that this would line up. Callsign: Arctic Fox (Because of the Mike Birbiglia joke)

Hmm, for some reason I always thought the Allomantic Grenade had a Nicrosil core, supporting the theory that Nicrosil could store a single Allomantic power. But apparently that's just Ettmetal? I do like the theory that Feruchemical Nicrosil can stores a single Allomantic power (as Investiture) and then you can burn that to get a supercharge of the stored power.
