Peter has confirmed that this is the case on Twitter. -
And... BOOM!
WeiryWriter replied to Green Hoodie Mistborn's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
I'd say that was pretty minor compared to the other thing revealed in that article. I.e. the fantastic cover art by Scott Brundage: Edit: and the synopsis too: -
It began with a single sentence: "So, there I was, tied to an altar made from outdated encyclopedias, about to get sacrificed to the dark powers by a cult of evil Librarians." With that Alcatraz Smedry walked into our lives but although it has been a long, and rather bumpy, road we still have yet to see the infamous altar. The end is drawing near however, Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians Book 5: The Dark Talent will be releasing on June 7, 2016. Tor.com has just revealed the fantastic cover art that Scott Brundage created for the book. I really can't get ov-- Oh, oh my... Is that an altar I spy in the background? Perhaps made from outdated encyclopedias? It certainly looks like one in my opinion. Anyway, as I was saying, I really can't get over how well the cover fits with the series. After seeing some unused covers and concept art Scott posted back in March, I was hopeful but this has really just blasted past my expectations. I really can't wait to see the new covers for Books 1-4 when they get posted! They also posted the synopsis of the book. Which, while it doesn't reveal anything beyond what is established at the end of Book 4, is definitely hype-inducing: Surely he can... Right? If you can't wait until June 7th to get your hands on a new Brandon book don't forget Shadows of Self comes out October 6th, check out our spoiler free review of it here. Check out our forum topic here to discuss the cover and synopsis! Update: It turns out that the name of the book has been changed from "Alcatraz Versus the Dark Talent" to "Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians: The Dark Talent", which I completely missed in writing this article originally. Peter has confirmed that the old naming scheme has been dropped for each book.

Tips for asking questions at signings?
WeiryWriter replied to IBNobody's topic in Events and Signings
There is usually a 20 minute or so General Q&A, but that has generally been full of more generic "What got you into fantasy?" "What are you working on?" "Movies?" type questions. Sometimes a cosmere question or two gets asked, but he does ask that people avoid mentioning spoilers at that point. You'll have a better opportunity to ask it during the signing line. Brandon does try very hard to have a conversation (even a short one) with everybody that goes through the line. Do you specifically want the answers written into your copies of WoK/WoR? If you don't you should just be able to ask Brandon while he is signing your books, especially as you plan on recording stuff. Generally post-it notes are used when people want personalizations in their books. Recordings are always nice, and having someone who is not me doing the transcription is even more nice. I don't think I recall any of those questions being asked before (the Shardplate/gemstone might have been RAFO'd but I can't find anything at the present moment). As for #3 I have never heard of people being restricted to asking about a specific series at any of Brandon's signings. -
Not really, if by "the Final Empire version" you mean this. That's the base game, it explains everything about how mechanics work. The Alloy and Terris supplements are just that, supplements. They expand upon the base but they only focus on certain things.

Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
WeiryWriter replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You might find this thread interesting. I don't think I agree with your theory here, that the Dor is a single shard corpse, instead of a patchwork of two, however. Namely because "Harmony" isn't really a single Shard either. Yes it sometimes acts like a single shard (namely in the event of its holder's death, i.e. it doesn't automatically separate into Ruin and Preservation) but Ruin and Preservation are still differentiated to an extent with two distinct intents. That's part of why Sazed is so relatively inactive, he's dealing with two diametrically opposed intents. -
Shadows of Self Chapter 5 Posted
WeiryWriter commented on WeiryWriter's article in Brandon and Book News
As Chaos said it's in the same ballpark, but it is longer. Peter was asked about it on twitter and said this:- 6 comments

Sort of. Allomancy was originally used in Mistborn prime (but there were no Mistings or emotional Allomancy yet) and Feruchemy was featured in Final Empire prime. Neither book worked particularly well so Brandon tried mashing them together and got Mistborn: The Final Empire, which turned out well.
-
Would you mind posting a picture? For the sake of completeness? (Oh and fyi you are allowed to start a new thread for signed books like this.)
-
Yeah we did, it comes up at one point in Alloy. Also did we know the bit about gold Feruchemy and alcohol before?
-
We are still a fortnight away from the release of Shadows of Self but luckily the folks over at Tor.com have posted another chapter to help tide us over. Check out Chapter 5 here! I for one think it is a great chapter, with sequences from all three main viewpoints (Wax, Wayne, and Marasi) that really start to dig into who they are as characters and their backstories. I get the feeling though, that we really ain't seen nothin' yet... Check out our forum topic here to discuss the chapter preview!

And Chapter 5 has been posted!

Technically while Shashara was the one to actually come up with the process they used, Vasher was involved in Nightblood's creation. They decided on its Command (Destroy Evil) together.

Facepalm-worthy Moments during Readings
WeiryWriter replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
The French pronunciations is just for Central dominance names (So Kelsier, Vin, Demoux, etc.). Spook is just the English translation of his nickname (I'm pretty sure the French translations refer to him as "Spectre"). And the Northern dominance, where Elend and Straff are originally from, uses more Germanic pronunciations so "EE-lend" and "STRAHFF". -
Okay friendly reminder to tag your spoilers. This is the Stormlight forum, Mistborn spoilers should be tagged.

Earlier this week we reported about a change in policy with regards to release parties at BYU. Specifically they are instituting a new "digital line", which was just posted. You can sign up here. One important note, if you want to be entered into the raffle for a number between 1-100 you must sign up within the first 24 hours (i.e. between Friday at noon and Saturday at noon, Mountain time). This form is also the place where you can sign up to volunteer, if you wish to do so. In other news it appears that Steelheart is getting a new hardcover release. As we know Steelheart received new US cover art when it got released in paperback, the covers for Firefight and Calamity then continued in the new style. This new release is a hardcover of Steelheart with the "new" paperback design. This means that hardcover owners now have an opportunity to have a matching set. According to Peter this is not an actual reprinting but rather "a rejacketing of warehouse copies of the first printing hardcover". Check out our forum topics here to discuss the digital line, and here the new Steelheart release!

Leather-bound Edition of Elantris

Oh definitely, you can also expect me to be shouting it out from the rooftops. AFTER I order mine of course . -
Here's that WoB: (source)

Leather-bound Edition of Elantris
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
It had also just won the Hugo for Best Novella, and was substantially cheaper than $100. I don't think there is anything to big to worry about here, but there isn't any harm in erring on the side of caution and ordering it ASAP. -
Leather-bound Edition of Elantris
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Eh it's a fairly reasonable number I think. I remember the first hardcover printing of The Emperor's Soul only had 2,000 copies and they lasted a fair amount of time. So while yes it would be prudent to order sooner rather than later, I don't think you have to worry about ordering as soon as they go on sale. -
Leather-bound Edition of Elantris
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Pretty much what Chaos said. This thread literally contains everything I know about this edition, if it's not here, I don't know it. I also asked Peter about the size of the print run: -
Leather-bound Edition of Elantris
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
That hasn't been announced yet? Like the leatherbound edition itself hasn't been "officially" announced, so we'll probably find out then? -
Well since that exchange is from today I don't blame you.

So I asked Peter if there were any updates on this since the release is closer and this was his reply:
