  1. There's actually a ref template for reddit as well: {{reddit ref | <subreddit> | <thread id> | <comment id> |text= <description> |date= <date>}} In this case you can just use this: {{reddit ref|books|2ytg2h|ctwp8kn|text= When did Besk first meet Kai?|date= Aug 9th, 2015}}
  2. Yeah I remember seeing that in an earlier contest, it's just how Canadian Sweepstakes laws work. You know how in the US they always have disclaimers about how "No purchase is necessary", this is essentially the Canadian equivalent, they're just using a different tactic to do the same thing. (source)
  3. We did: (source)
  4. The easter egg is that the shape of Roshar is mathematically derived. It's a 2D shadow of a 3D slice of a 4D Julia set. I'm pretty sure this is where it was figured out.
  5. Nazh is from Threnody, not Roshar.
  6. Who exactly are you talking about here, I don't recognize that name.
  7. Well there is Mraize, he has technically worldhopped and is from Roshar. I can't remember if the question stipulates anything about seeing these worldhoppers in other books though.
  8. If I remember correctly the Alcatraz re-releases coming out next year are supposed to have a map, but I don't think there is one currently available.
  9. Keep in mind that "Domi" is an in-world name based on Aon Omi. "Dominion" is the English name for the Shard, the people in-cosmere would actually use a different word. This is a thing that comes up time and time again and it's a coincidence, nothing more.
  10. psst Moogle you might want to read this part again
  11. Actually heterochromia (technically heterochromia iridum) is sometimes genetic in our world as well, it isn't exclusively caused by injury. Though now I do wonder if if secotral and central heterochromia exist on Roshar as well and what significance they hold...
  12. It's also in the annotations.
  13. 1. I do not believe we have explicit confirmation on what exactly Szeth did that the Shin decided warranted him being made Truthless. Brandon has said he "betrayed the beliefs/culture of his people in a fundamental way". The impression I got from WoR was that he tried to argue that a Desolation was coming/the Radiants were returning which the Shin leaders either did not believe, or did not like, and so gave him the greatest punishment they could, being made Truthless. In a culture where soldiers are the lowest caste of society, becoming what amounts to a living weapon is not one wants to do. As for "losing one of their most valuable possessions" Szeth does mention in WoK that if he were to die his blade would be retrieved. How we don't know but the Shin must have a way. 2. We do not know exactly the Recreance happened, just that it is closer to "modern" Roshar than it is to Aharietiem. We also know it was not in response to what the Heralds did. Also while the Heralds were the patrons of the various Orders, the Orders must have had some sort of internal hierarchy to govern themselves as the Heralds were only present during Desolations, between Desolations the Radiants were on their own. 3. The Heralds as best as we can tell the Heralds were chosen by Honor and given the honorblades by him as part of the Oathpact. That happened long before the Radiants were founded (and also before Nohadon wrote The Way of Kings).
  14. I am aware, but if they prefer the name Releaser than they really shouldn't be referred to as Dustbringers, they should have the right to name themselves? So yes, if they wanted to be called Releasers than Releasers is the proper name. Which leaves me stuck in between "This doesn't match the convention so I don't like it" and "But it's what they want to be called so we should use that". That's what annoys me. RE: Harmonium. This is not a discussion I do not want to get into, all I will say is that I prefer the sound of sazedium infinitely more than harmonium.
  15. Because "Dustbringers" fits the naming convention of the Orders of Knights Radiant, "Releasers" does not. I don't like when names like this don't follow the convention. (it's also why I'd much prefer sazedium over harmonium, but noooo Sazed has to go and not like the sound of it.)
  16. We knew it from an in-world source that could very well have been "sanitized" by the Vorin church (it's mentioned they did so with other books during the Hierocracy). This however is an objective confirmation, and one I was hoping to get (though in reality I would rather have the reverse).
  17. Brandon has spoken, briefly, on the underlying mechanics of Allomantic electrum and atium:
  18. Brandon just spoke about this in the AMA: (source) This is a discussion that has come up before in regards to "Domi" and "Dominion" from Elantris. The similarity is entirely coincidental and wouldn't exist in-world as they would be using their own word for Dominion. As for the illustrations, those have all been "translated" to English as well, some just have been written using various Rosharan scripts for flavor.
  19. The only problem is that "Honor" is the name for that Shard in English, which the Rosharans do not speak. It's likely this is just a coincidence, at least it is not an in-world explanation (though it's conceivable it influenced Brandon in some way).
  20. So a few days ago Crafty posted a picture of the game on their twitter: Here's what I can make out. On the "Icon Reference" card there's a list of various resources Food?, Money, Prestige, Skaa, Warfare/Weapons?, Atium. And then I can make out four of the "player cards", House Tekiel, the Steel Ministry, House Elariel, and House Venture.
  21. Actually it started yesterday. But anyway I don't really expect to get any real reports until the weekend is over and people have time to relax and post at their leisure. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out everything that is coming out there in relatively short order.
  22. It's stated in the book that Nalizar got taken control of during the skirmish at Nebrask where Melody's brother "died". He explains that the reason that he didn't recognize Joel until the end of the book is that to creatures like him all non-Rithmatists look pretty much alike.
  23. Peter still need to edit them, and it's been a busy year for him. It's not like them not being released yet is part of some plan, I'm sure they would have preferred to get them out when they were unlocked back in I think February. It's just that other things take precedence. We'll get them when we get them
  24. There are worse things than being a repeat of the Maze Runner, given that it made 10 times its budget worldwide.
  25. @Smurf, The impression that I've always had isn't that they created the actual hunk of rock that makes up the planet, they just created life on it. @Moogle, I do like your theory though.
