Just put it in this thread, keeping everything related to an event in a single thread makes it easier on those of us who have to index everything. Also if you don't want to transcribe stuff yourself you can just post the audio (Soundcloud is good for that). And really posting the audio is always good.

Shadows of Self Tour (San Diego Edition)
WeiryWriter replied to karsen's topic in Events and Signings
Somebody just posted the general Q&A from this signing on youtube: -
That is correct. J.C. is based on Adam Baldwin, Tobias is based on Morgan Freeman, and I believe it was revealed that Ivy is Gwyneth Paltrow though I'm not sure on that.

[Spoilers] Elantris Anniversary Reactions
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Skyward is a YA cosmere story that Brandon mentioned in the 2013 State of the Sanderson. We really don't know anything about it. Dark One is also a YA cosmere story, the Coppermind has an article about it, but basically it's the story of the person destined to destroy their world. -

[Spoilers] Elantris Anniversary Reactions
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
So I really need to know the context of that Hoid scene, like now. Why did Hoid think he was going to become an Elantrian, why is he working with a skaze, what exactly was he supposed to be doing for them?!? (Also: oooh skaze) So many pretty, pretty new Aons. Seriously I love these symbols. Though I am a little frustrated that the proportions were subtly changed 'cause now it's going to be much harder to recreate them for the wiki. But new Aons! YAY! (And I may or may not have spent so long looking at them that Chaos yelled at me and told me to go and read the Ars Arcanum already...) The Ars Arcanum is really interesting, there's some information on the history of the Aons, and Aonic linguistics which is fun. Some new terms like "Initiation" which is a great term that we really needed, plus the interesting tidbits in that section. What does "a specific Shard's Decision" supposed to mean anyway? Also Vax. My first thought was this has to be the electricity-themed Dark One world, though I believe Chaos pointed out that it could be the setting of Skyward as well. -
[Shadows of Self Spoilers] The Ars Arcanum
WeiryWriter replied to Zalocx's topic in Cosmere Discussion
My understanding is that the Author of the Ars Arcanum was not referring to Honor/Cultivation when she refers to the combining of two powers, but rather exclusively to the fact that each Radiant Order has access to two Surges and a "Perk". I.e. Windrunners have Adhesion, Gravitation, and "Strength of Squires"; Lightweavers have Illumination, Transformation, and enhanced mnemonic abilities. Basically it's the two abilities combining, not the ultimate source of those abilities. But yeah at this point I'm reasonably sure that Wax's steel bubble is the Crasher Twinborn Perk.- 41 replies

Okay this isn't exactly a typo but on page 174 of the US Hardcover during Paalm and Wax's conversation: Shouldn't Wax have used lion instead of wolf?

Okay so we do already have another thread discussing this (which I see you posted in after starting this thread) so I'm going to lock this, for the sake of keeping the forum de-cluttered.

The fandom is still positively buzzing from this week's new releases but tonight holds something entirely new for Sanderson fans. Tonight the HISTORY channel premieres a new series "True Monsters" which seeks to delve into the fact and fiction of myths and legends from around the world. The exciting part is that Brandon is one of the experts they brought in to interview. Brandon spoke a little about it in a blog entry posted earlier today. One thing that really stands out to me is that Brandon wasn't chosen just because he is a well-known, and incredibly popular, fantasy author but because he is a college professor who has studied the subject. Here's the description of tonight's episode from the HISTORY channel website: I for one am incredibly excited, though unfortunately I will not be able to stay up and watch it "live". I do plan on recording it so expect some coverage of the episode in the next few days. So, is anyone else as excited as I am? Who is planning on watching? Check out our forum topic here to discuss the show! Photo credits: The Aliens Dragons picture of Brandon from his blog announcement.

What does SoS's title have to do with what it's about?
WeiryWriter replied to Blightsong's topic in Mistborn
Except that's pretty much what is going on: (source) -
I don't think it would be awkward at all for more than one person to record the signing. In fact it's kind of nice as that helps protect against something going wrong and the audio being lost.

Shadows of Self: BYU midnight signing
WeiryWriter replied to Lightning's topic in Events and Signings
Brandon has been asked about that, and I'm pretty sure the answer was something like "Hoid would be reluctant to open himself to outside influence like that" or something. -
So Kogiopsis over on tumblr was at this signing and gave this report:
-
Hey welcome to the forums! In general signing reports should go in the Events and Signings forum in the associated event's thread. I don't believe one has been started for Houston yet so just go ahead and start one. Anyway I'm really looking forward to the answer, I'm not aware of it being answered before.

Agreed.

Can I bring printed-out copies of books to signings?
WeiryWriter replied to WayneSpren's topic in Events and Signings
He might have a silver sharpie (or you could bring one), that should show up on black. -
Tonight? The Portland signing isn't until Saturday...

Yes + Yes

Hehe, Osmosis Jones was running through my head as well but Brandon just revealed the two movies, Inception and Tron.

Leather-bound Edition of Elantris
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Yeah the leatherbound won't be on sale until November. And I have read the scene and it's great but reactions should go here. -
It hasn't been changed, that's the same version of the symbol that was used in Alloy. All of the Steel alphabet characters were updated (to reflect the progression of time) in Alloy.

Somebody tweeted Brandon a couple guesses and out of the "three" movies they listed one is correct: My bet is that the correct one is Inception. Edit: I'm also moving this thread as it is not a cosmere story.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Thanks for posting these answers but this is Not the place to put them. They should go in the relevant event thread in the Events and Signings forum.
