  1. With Aons the vowel is always hard, so Ati is "AY-TEYE".
  2. So the digital version of the newest supplement for the MAG, Skaa: Tin & Ash has been out for a while now and physical copies should be shipping today. Has anybody else picked it up yet? What are your thoughts on it. Anybody played with the new content yet?
  3. Brandon has said there is no connection, they aren't even pronounced the same way.
  4. Tor.com posted another new preview from The Bands of Mourning this morning. Check it out here! It picks up soon after the end of the first chapter and has a couple really great conversations between Wax and Steris and Marasi and Wayne respectively. Not to mention I think the hardcore cosmere-enthusiasts among us will be very excited by the last sentence... In other news Crafty Games has released the newest supplement for the Mistborn Adventure Game, Skaa: Tin & Ash. It has been up for pre-order and digital delivery for a couple weeks but the physical copies just arrived in their warehouse the end of last week. They should be starting to send out orders today, just in time for Christmas! I've only been able to read parts of it so far, but it looks like there is a lot of really interesting information in it. It also has another beautiful cover by Tommy Arnold (who did the cover art for Terris: Wrought of Copper). Another exciting thing they are doing is that they made a batch of dice with the Steel alphabet symbol for aluminum (a metal that is /not/ included in the dice set they sell or the kickstarter exclusives) and since Nov 18th and while supplies last they will be including one, for free, in every physical order made through their website. For those of you wondering about what is going on the with the Mistborn board game, the kickstarter, which was originally supposed to take place in October/November, was pushed back out of deference to Team Sanderson and an effort to give the project some breathing room. It is currently planned to launch during Quarter 1 of 2016, possibly late January/early February. The game has also undergone a name change, instead of "Final Empire: A Mistborn board game" it will be titled "Mistborn: House War". Check out our forum topics here to discuss the preview chapter and here to discuss the supplement! Photo credits: Skaa: Tin & Ash cover from Crafty Games product page. 5. Okay, this is something that pops up over, and over again. There is not a connection: (source)
  6. No he was starting to say "Kalak is the Stormfather" (which I think he was confused as it is Jezrien that Vorins conflate with the Stormfather)
  7. I'm not entirely sure I was quite able to parse the question correctly, so take the stuff in brackets with a grain of salt at this point.
  8. You're in luck, it has been uploaded to the wiki, it just hasn't been added to the Aon article yet. (But as Stormgate alludes to, there isn't a connection between Aon Ati and Ruin, it's just a coincidence).
  9. Okay, I need to take a break and go eat dinner, but I've been transcribing (I've made it almost half way through). https://docs.google.com/document/d/18ha-Hv9DJrHtyHEQhkubuczWZWMv3igkV6_-aa1OTOA/edit
  10. Huh, that's actually a very interesting idea. I remember Brandon saying at one point that one of the reasons he didn't make the Reckoners cosmere was because the mythology he was playing with in creating Calamity was very much "our world", or something to that effect. It's definitely possible that this is all related.
  11. chasmfriend on tumblr was at this signing and gave the following report:
  12. Oooh, that's a question I never even considered! If you don't mind though, could you take/post a picture of it for archival purposes?
  13. Before we get into the main bits of news, Tor.com posted the first preview from The Bands of Mourning on Monday! It picks up several months after the events of Shadows of Self on a very important day. Obviously if you have not yet finished Shadows, do NOT read this as it does reference a very important climactic reveal. This is a really fun chapter, so if have finished Shadows I'd really recommend reading it. Check it out here! In other news the Elantris leatherbound edition, which includes the 10th anniversary revised text, is finally on sale! And the first printing is already sold out... Don't worry about missing out however as a second shipment is expected to arrive in January (not to mention Brandon has mentioned that he wants to keep the book in-stock for at least a year)! This book is seriously gorgeous. I love the use of the Aons on the cover, especially the use of Aon Ela as the center-point of the design (which is entirely fitting given its meaning...). The repeating Aon Ido also makes for a nice border. The inside is equally breathtaking. Include are full-color pages with some of the best cover-art from around the world. It even comes with a ribbon bookmark! If you order the book before the end of the year you do have the option of getting a numbered edition (aside from 1-50 going to various stores that have supported Brandon over the years the numbers will be randomized. So ordering sooner does not necessarily mean you will get a lower number. Also if this edition does well enough Brandon is looking at doing similar editions for Mistborn Era 1 and Warbreaker. Potentially it could go farther and we may one day be able to have the entire Cosmere sequence in matching leatherbound, but only if the demand is there (so seriously everybody, those who can afford it of course $100 isn't cheap, let's show them the demand, shall we?). The leatherbound Elantris is not the only new item in Brandon's store however. The 2015 Con Exclusive, a flip-back hardcover of Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell and Perfect State, is up. There are Bridge 4 pendents in bronze and silver as well as a poster featuring the map of Roshar from the Words of Radiance end-pages. There are even Mistborn and Stormlight lanyards. Check out our forum topics here to discuss the chapter preview and here to discuss the leatherbound edition! Photo credits: Photos of the leatherbound spine and map from Brandon's Twitter. 14. Actually we don't have confirmation on either of their genders.
  15. That's actually refering to the protagonist of the "modern trilogy" which is now referred to as Era 3. Brandon had not yet had the idea for Wax and Wayne when he gave that answer.
  16. He did mention doing a second Kaladin book, but that was quite a few years ago (as in shortly after the release of WoK). Brandon has mentioned his current line-up and a second Kaladin book is not a part of it.
  17. My understanding of the reasoning of this is that it makes it more difficult for others to find and join the new conversation. After all if the thread title and first few posts are about one thing how are people looking for a conversation supposed to know that it is in this seemingly unrelated thread? In short keep threads on topic, if an interesting side topic comes up just start a new thread.
  18. The whole "99 Desolations" is more an artifact of Vorin theology than an accurate count. Brandon has compared it to the "40 days and 40 nights" in Christian beliefs. Also the 4500 years is only the length of time between the Last Desolation and Everstorm, the intervals between the others were significantly shorter (after all Brandon once mentioned that Adonalsium was only Shattered about 6000 years before the Last Desolation).
  19. Great job on this! Unfortunately it is a topic that has already been discovered (see here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/22801-hardcore-rithmatic-theory/). Five point and eight point circles are confirmed to be possible.
  20. Actually when I asked about that in the last ama he said that the mist spirit is /not/ a cognitive shadow.
  21. Actually I would just go with Ana, which is what Sarene was originally supposed to be based off of. The list on the copper mind is hardly an exhaustive list, it's simply the ones we, the readers are aware of.
  22. Technically my first Sanderson book was T he Gathering Storm, but my first solo Sanderson was Mistborn. My favorite is definitely The Rithmatist though.
  23. Actually Nazh is based on Isaac Stewart, Art Director for Dragonsteel Entertainment, who does a lot of the maps/symbols/other artwork for Brandon's works. I'm pretty sure he is also the one who took that photo which is why it is credited to Nazrilof.
  24. That chronology page is out of date and needs to be updated. Brand actually mentioned during the sos tour that Era 2 takes place after stormlight 5 at the earliest, and may take place after stormlight entirely but he hasn't nailed down the timeline well enough to know yet.
  25. The funny thing is Brandon originally wanted the titles for the trilogy to all be "the final blank", i.e. the final hero. But he couldn't decide on a good title for WoA. As a result he decided to not go with a pattern. The "blank of blank" is just a coincidence probably, after all the last Era 2 book is planned to called "the lost metal"
