For those of you who are interested I've been trying to recreate this in vector form for the wiki and Isaac was kind enough to share the actual canon drawing:

That was changed in the re-release, but from the second book on they're from Nalhalla. Brandon talks the change here: (source)

Well France is missing because there's a running joke in the book that it doesn't exist. But I never noticed that about the shape of Nalhalla, definitely worth asking about.

Graphic Audio Adaptations Master Thread
WeiryWriter replied to Argent's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Eh I think her story is the best in that anthology as well, so don't worry too much about persecution. -
Brandon has a short schedule up on his event page now: On the OdesseyCon schedule he is also scheduled for a Magic: The Gathering event 9:30-11 Saturday and a panel on "Magical Ethics" 1-2:30 Sunday. Not to mention the Guest of Honor speeches Saturday 7-9.
-
Awesome, thanks. Are these from the actual panel or from the signing event?
-
All of them, it was part of the speech he gives before the Q&A/Reading, he does a different one for each tour. I'm not sure if this one was ever transcribed though.
-
Do you have WoB on that?
-
No, as far as we are aware the listeners are a distinct species. There is WoB that there are kandra worldhoppers but we do not know their identity. I'm pretty sure this is unknown. Unknown. We know they would be able to block an Awakener's life-sense at the very least so I'd be surprised if they couldn't. Yes, though alloys would be trickier since you have to get the ratios right. The reason being that the normal metals are not actually powering Allomancy they act as conduits for Preservation's power. Lerasium and atium however, as the physical form of Preservation and Ruin's Investiture do power Allomancy, they also cannot be created via Soulcasting. Unknown, though the savant idea is something that has been proposed before. There is WoB that it is possible to duplicate all forms of Surgebinding via fabirals. Whether they exist or not is unknown, though it is theorized that the Oathgates are Transporation fabrials. There is no reason to think they did not become full Elantrians. There is WoB that being a lerasium savant is "essentially what Ascension is", I'm inclined to think the same applies to atium. Unknown. Unknown. Unknown. I believe we have WoB that the highstorms are a natural part of Roshar and that they existed before Honor and Cultivation arrived. Unknown. It's unlikely that they would be able to infuse Stormlight without some hacking of the system. All Selish magic looses power away from it's home region. The power reduction just appears to be more dramatic in AonDor, likely because of the Elantris power enhancing Aon. Brandon has said that technically all Selish magics are different manifestations of a single system. Atium is Ruin's body the corpse that showed up was Ati's.

The Splintercast Reads Bands of Mourning, Episode 3: Chapters 4-6
WeiryWriter commented on FeatherWriter's article in Shardcast
Offhand jokes actually being perfect predictions = the bestest ...that Wayne sequence...still think it drags on too long... "Stay away from Hemalurgy kids" that's kind of a hypocritical thing for a Steel Inquisitor to say, isn't it? ;D I wish Marasi had spoken with Harmony, the earring is a plot thread that just kind of disappears.- 5 comments

In case you missed it last week we reported that io9 had posted an extended preview of the White Sand graphic novel. Since then Dynamite Entertainment has released a press release with the cover art for the first volume. I for one really love the cover, as someone who has read the prose version it is nice to finally see what certain characters look like. The release is still a few months away but it is safe to say that I am already hyped for it! In other news the first of a five volume Graphic Audio adaptation of The Way of Kings was released this week. For those who aren't familiar, Graphic Audio is a full-cast (meaning each character is voiced by a different person) reading of the book with sound effects and music. Sort of like a cross between an audiobook and a radio play. Brandon has a short preview of it in a post over on his site. These versions might not be everyone's cup of tea but I know that fans of them are very excited as it was unclear whether The Way of Kings would be adapted in this way. Lastly April 30th is Independent Bookstore Day, which seeks to celebrate the place indie bookstores serve in communities. This year a special Sanderson related item is being given away for free as a promotion at participating stores, a "pocket companion" to the Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. Here is the description from the Tattered Cover website: Here is an image of it from the Tor books tumblr: This is the first we've heard of this item so we still do not know much about it but we will be posting more about this as more information comes to light. To find a participating store there is a searchable map here.

Yeah it was discussed back when it was first announced. And fyi that video really has nothing to do with the movie, it's a book trailer put out by the publisher.
-
See personally I'd rather have a date, even if it later gets pushed back, than nothing because then at least I have a rough idea. One of my favorite things about Brandon is how transparent he is. He keeps us updated on stuff like this, a lot of authors don't. We just have to understand that until there's a formal announcement by the publisher a release date can, and probably will, change.

Actually the Alethi are canonically darker-skinned. Brandon has described them as looking like people of mixed Hawaiian-Asian descent, but since they don't have an exact Earth-analogue he has also said that some people would say thy look Arabic or Indian.

The broadsheet pages are mostly just a supplementary thing, another way to experience the world of Mistborn independently of the viewpoint of the main characters. There are easter eggs and some foreshadowing in them, but they aren't necessary to read. Them being split up is an unfortunate consequence of the layout of the books, but there are complete versions of each available on Brandon's site (Alloy, Shadows, Bands)

The Splintercast Reads Bands of Mourning, Episode 2: Chapters 1-3
WeiryWriter commented on FeatherWriter's article in Shardcast
Your righteous indignation at Wayne re: the wedding is priceless. "sounds like those bands might cause some mourning" *insert that meme of the CSI Miami guy* lance of the fountains is probably the spear that killed Kelsier (as an analog to the Holy Lance/Spear of Destiny) ...wow that prediction... (also these chapter have my favorite new word "anteverdant" ...I'm weird...)- 4 comments

First of all I would strongly recommend you read the ebook novella Mistborn: Secret History which was released concurrently with Bands of Mourning as it does deal with some of this stuff. Second of all, I'm sorry you found certain events to be unsatisfying. The thing is that for those involved in the fandom we've known about Kelsier holding Preservation and the existence of the Southern Peoples for years, so for us it is not popping out of nowhere. (The Southern Peoples are obliquely referenced in Shadows of Self when Harmony is speaking to Wax in the carriage. He references "while others who were nearly destroyed" or something to that effect) On the Bands and the Sovereign, read the epilogue again because while Wax initially makes the assumption that the Sovereign was Rashek, that is not actually the case. As such the Bands are something new and not actually the Lord Ruler's metalminds. On not being able to bring Vin and Elend back from the dead. I would argue that that was because they were already dead and "split into three" while Wax was still in the process of dying. Harmony just gave him a nudge back towards life, and it was the Bands that actually healed him.

If you read further in that thread Peter posts about how the reporter was mistaken. He spoke to Brandon about it and Sel and Threnody are /not/ in the same system.

Was/Is there ever any chance of a Warbreaker sequel?
WeiryWriter replied to GenericMastermindAnt's topic in Warbreaker
It has always been Brandon's plan to write a sequel to Warbreaker, titled Nightblood. Here is the 2015 State of the Sanderson where he talks briefly about it (unfortunately it's a ways off yet). -

[BoM Spoilers] A broadsheet back from Shadows of Self...
WeiryWriter replied to Platysaur's topic in Mistborn
Actually from what I can remember Europe is warmer than it otherwise would be because of the (I think) gulf stream bringing up warm water from the tropics. Also the water draining thing is a myth if I remember correctly. -
What would you call a practitioner of Hemalurgy?
WeiryWriter replied to Bryce Carmony's topic in Mistborn
I would argue that if a person just has one (or a few) spikes in them they are a Hemalurgist, not a Hemalurgic construct. A construct is an entity that is actively changed by the spikes and their configuration into something that is no longer strictly human (or mistwraith). -
If I remember correctly he actually said that the other worlds might have life, but if so it is not sentient.

Calamity Tour - Austin, TX, Feb 25, 2016
WeiryWriter replied to Mark Lindberg's topic in Events and Signings
I think you are adding a needless restriction there, that Southern Scadrians haven't left the world before Era 2? Like her ancestors didn't leave as part of a mass-migration so there must have been a limited number who world-hopped.
