  1. I don't think Purity is another Shard, Brandon is pretty sparing with revealing Shard Intents and he just gave us one with Ambition. There's also the fact that Branodn has said there are no Shards on Threnody (and if a Shard was going to be anywhere in that system it would be Threnody). Not to mention Khriss makes no mention of Shards in the Threnodite system essay outside of Ambition and Odium. Also the impression I got from the essay was that Ambition was never settled in the Threnodite system. They and Odium were fighting and as part of that they just happened to end up in the system for Odium to inflict a grievous wound, spraying the system with some of Ambition's Invesiture, before the fight continued, and ended, elsewhere. Those are what have been dubbed "Vorin numerals", we've seen them before. Oversleep is correct here. The circle around Taldain that both suns lie on is just an artistic touch, not an actual description of orbits. I think it's as spatially accurate as it can be? Like I do think this is a artistic rendering of the night's sky from somewhere in the cosmere (my main theory is Silverlight, though it could be Yolen) so there is going to be potential for some weirdness (since constellation maps kind of ignore how far each star is from the viewer). I would agree that this is probably not the entire night sky. I don't think it is possible to map everything in a rectangle, at least not with out some major distortions. The most accurate way would be mapping it onto the inside of a sphere.
  2. Not 100% final canon but it's Brandon's current term for it.
  3. Oi! Now you get out of my head!
  4. So near the beginning of Chapter 6 of Edgedancer Lift has a conversation with a street urchin in a pretty thick dialect. Afterwards she has the following conversation with Wyndle about ti: What if an enhanced ability to communicate is the Resonance (i.e. Order Perk/passive ability) associated with combining Abrasion and Progression?
  5. "The Sleepless" is actually the term Dysian Aimians use to refer to themselves, so I would say it is less a secret society and more a secretive species. Categorically all Sleepless would be Dysian Aimians then. I'm thinking it has to do with Nightblood, who has some sort of color aura which is often forgotten about. He's definitely a Herald I think, my current guess is probably Ishar. The bit about Ym was definitely unexpected and sadder than I thought it would be. As for Arclo, I'm very proud that I figured out he was a Dysian (after a couple minutes of "What is that thing" it was "OH MY HARMONY THAT'S A DYSIAN AIMIAN") I completely missed the connection to the back of book blurbs until Chaos pointed it out though.
  6. So here is the aforementioned picture. The exact phrasing is: Me: In Edgedancer we see what I believe is a Dysian Aimian, Arclo, refer to the Sleepless. Is this the term the Dysians use to refer to their species or is it rather the name of a group of specific Dysians? Brandon: This is how they speak of themselves. Good question.
  7. Yep, Arco is definitely a Dysian Aimian. I asked Brandon about whether "the Sleepless" was how Dysian referred to their species or a specific group of Dysians and a Brandon responded with the former. I'll be posting a picture of that latter today.
  8. Yeah, Eki is correct. I think that is the best place for that information.
  9. Our spoiler policy on Arcanum Unbounded stuff can be found here. So unfortunately no one who has read the story can answer this before tomorrow.
  10. Hind is another word for a female red deer, so figure they are the Roshar equivalent of deer, like axehounds are equivalent of dogs.
  11. We have no issue with this sort of thing, so don't worry. Also we've known about the possibility of a second Secret History for a while, I think Brandon has mentioned it a couple of times. I am glad for this as that WoB has always felt inconsistent with what we see in Era 2, it's nice to know that we will someday find out more about that.
  12. I'm moving this to the Stormlight forum, as it's more relevant there. Thanks for posting this though.
  13. Hey everyone, I do want to chime in on this as I did work with Chaos on formulating this policy. In my mind this really wasn’t changing anything, it was just a formalization of what I have already been doing. The only difference is encouraging people to report it when this sort of thing happens. And even then it’s not like people are actually going to be getting in trouble per se. The reporting is mostly so we know who to nag about posting their stuff in the event threads. (Though I guess that could be considered a punishment by some, I am a younger brother so I’ve perfected the art of being incessantly annoying. ) I do understand what you are saying about the it being up to the individual to decide to share information from what was a personal interaction. I get that. But at the same time my priorities are ease of use and ease of access to that information. If it’s not where people go to find that information then there is a chance it will be missed. Both in the circumstances of the average user trying to keep abreast of new WoBs and the indexer trying to catalogue everything. I’ve tried to be good about keeping track of random event reports, and I do always post encouraging them to post it in the event thread, but I’m sure there are things I’ve missed because I can’t read everything. And now those reports might be lost precisely because we don’t know they exist. On the topic of non-event WoBs like reddit and twitter, I don’t think we need to worry too much about keeping track of for now. Those sites do keep track of his posts/tweets and it would really just be a matter of time to go through and find the ones we want to add to any database. Book personalizations are a bit trickier, right now having a stickied thread to post them in seems like the best option but I’m open to other ideas. I do want to say that I have nothing against people starting new threads to share/talk about a new WoB and I probably won’t complain if it isn’t posted in the event thread first, as long as that information is posted in said thread in a timely manner. Even if that post is just a short “Hey I asked abc and Brandon answered with xyz, here is a link to a thread where I talk more about it.” On the matter of a new database, as Chaos says, we are exploring options. I have no idea how long that process will take, so please don’t expect to have this resolved any time soon. This is part of the reason why I’m so insistent on this policy. Until we have a better system in place to keep track of WoBs, we need a way to make sure this stuff is easily findable, both for the interim and for eventual indexing.
  14. As I said in my previous post, Brandon /briefly/ tried to change it to Era 1.5 during the time that post was written. As of the release of BoM/SH however it is officially Era 2 (and is referred to as such in the postscript of Secret History.
  15. Actually Brandon and co started calling Wax & Wayne as Era 2 back during the Firefight release, when the Era system was instituted. Brandon briefly tried to change it to Era 1.5 November/December 2015 but changed back as of the release of BoM/SH.
  16. The term "the Beyond" and the basics of it being the final destination of people in the cosmere has been around for a couple years, mentioned by Brandon in interviews. It's explained in Secret History though.
  17. Just want to chime in on this point as it is a mistake that does pop up fairly often. But the Beyond is /not/ the same as the Spiritual Realm. The Beyond, quite literally is "beyond" the Three Realms.
  18. Pagerunner is correct, please do not discuss anything that has not been pre released before the official release date.
  19. Actually if I remember correctly Brandon once placed the Prelude as about 6000 years post-Shattering, with the stipulation that he didn't have his timeline on hand so didn't want to necessarily canonize that. Regardless it's safe to say the Prelude did not take place "relatively soon after the Shattering" as that would not leave room for several thousand years of Desolations. Edit: Here's that WoB:
  20. Hey everyone, just in case you forget (and not obsessively counting down the days like I am) Arcanum Unbounded comes out a week from tomorrow! Following last week's reveal of the Drominad system essay, Google Play has released a preview from Arcanum Unbounded as well. It includes a preface from Brandon discussing the collection and the origins of the Cosmere, Khriss' essay on Scadrial, and the text of The Eleventh Metal. Check it out here! Also, if you are interested, don't forget about the HumbleBundle including three Mistborn Adventure Game books. There's just under two days left!
  21. Okay I've edited the first post in this thread to include a list of the signings and links to existing threads for those events. I'm also going to pin this thread.
  22. Generally Brandon will sign any books (that he wrote) that you bring, though there is often a restriction of only three being able to be personalized. I would check what the rules are for the signing you are planning to attend as stores will often require you to buy the book from them to get anything signed.
  23. So on Monday before his signing Brandon was on Portuguese TV for an interview and the channel just posted a recording of it:
  24. The bookstore just posted a video of the general q&a from this signing:
  25. The following interview that took place at the Lucca Comics Festival was posted recently:
