New Information On AonDor Intitiation.
Yata replied to Blightsong's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
With the time maybe the culture and the Selish's Cognitive Identity will become one... and this may influence the Dor... But first we have to build a model of how the Dor works -
Probably a Star doesn't reflect in the Cognitive there aren't life on there and probably there aren't enough people that think to it (and less on Scadrial during the Final Empire where the Misty night hidden the stars). If we don't see the real Sun in the Cognitive (that most people see and think about), the stars are yet less relevant to the collectve mind. (or maybe there is Sun and Stars but the peculiar geography of the Cognitive... puts them adiacent to Shardworlds not in the "sky")

Hi guys. I know that it's probably just a coincidence but I want to share with you a curiosity about the name "Hoid". I and a friend of mine (my only Cosmere's confindent in real life) ofter joke about this thing... until He telled me "but did you shared this thing with the forum ?" So here I am: "Hoid" spelled backwards becomes "Dioh". In Italian, the word "dio" means the English's "god" and the "h" is often (with some exception) a letter without a sound. I know that probably is just some kind of coincidence and that name came from another person (our Hoid's master) but knowing how Sanderson hides things and plays with the names (Adonai= god in Hebrew, Adonalsium= anagram for "A mind a Soul") maybe this oddity with Hoid is wanted.. or in the end I hope you may find at least interesting :-)

I think Harmony can't pick other Shards for his own Intent (or Intents). If someone want to rebuild Adonlasium probably Harmony will be the last to pick. Spoiler from future mistborn books

Yeah but probably when the metal began to be too different they are uncapable... this protect them from any kind of damage

it's what I meant in my previous post. Until now the only true Immortality we know in detail in Cosmere is the Fifth Heightening. Surely there are other method, but we don't know enough of that. PS: I forgot the Elantrian status that come with an Infinte lifespan but with stressful life.

Yeah... To be Honest I think you may create a Koloss also with some less Spike (or something really similar)... But 4 Spikes are required to have a direct control on Human based creatures... Probably Rashek designed the Koloss to be the perfect soldiers with the highest efficiency possible.

theory Hoid Caused the Shaod/Reod
Yata replied to VirtuousTraveller's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Because before the Reod Hoid came to Sel and after the fix of Elantris He left the planet. Maybe this can't prove that during the reod it was more hard, but in the end we know that Hoid may go from and to Sel in his "standard" states. After all Hoid has probably the best Healing method we know in the Cosmere and he took something really extreme to stop him. About why He didn't choose to search Dominion's Shardpool... I really don't know, the pool may be in some unreachable place, maybe He didn't know where to search... or maybe before the revelation of the Monks, the other Pool (probably in Dilaf's homeland) are dangerous as Elantris (without Magic Users that work like release valve). But these are all speculations -
Me too. Anyway the simply fact that Worldhopper may go to e from Threnody implies that: 1) There are Perpendicularities not related to Shardpool. 2) they have another method not relate to Perpendicularity to Worldhop (like the one in the Surgebinding)

Well on Nalthis there is the only way to Immortality through Magic know in the Cosmere until now. She needs "only" some thousands of Breath to became functionaly immortal (and less to have a very long lifespan)

If I don't rememember wrong he clarify that WoB in a way that made think that Nightblood didn't reduce the amount of Investiture, but reduce the amount of usefull Investiture (like if Nightblood trasforms Investiture in unusable Investiture) and after a lot of time that Investiture will return avaliable.

Some people think that Terken Carapace is simply Carapace with some trace of Bauxite (raw Alluminium) that disrupt Investiture. @Hoidhunter: your Idea it's quite like the mine, I (and if remember right I posted here in this topic) think the Taldain's Magic Systems are about Plant as a Focus and the poor number of Plan-life on Taldain's Dayside restrict the kind of different Magic they may generate. While on DarkSide with more possible species it's possible to find more magics

Maybe you have right but I can't call the extra power from Overmastery "small amount". And in the end we can't even know if there is a real risk to lose power through Overmastery or if it is simply a lie to protect Mastrell's Supremacy,

Just a little precisation .... Koloss are made with 4 Iron Spikes not five ;-)

He moved the Earth around but the Perpendicularity position is quite the same... for example the Black Lake was on surfice and the Well on an high mountain .... after Rashek instead the Black Lake was in the deep and the Well quite in the surfice.... Probably He simply added earth to hidden both of them

Well a Splinter may have its own Intent a little divergent with the Main Shard (there is a WoB somewhere) and Stormlight Spoiler:

theory Hoid Caused the Shaod/Reod
Yata replied to VirtuousTraveller's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Probably Elantris's Cognitive Realm is extremely dangerous after the D&D's Murder but after the Read it become too much hard/dangerous also for someone like Hoid... Like you said the Dor was more compress there without his release valve (AonDor) -
Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah I understood your point. But if Galladon's words are true (It may be simple doctrine without solid bases) may talk about the Dor that fills the Cognitive Realm and the Cognitive Realm is quite "everywhere". -
A lot of people think that the "White Fox" is Hoid (he has white hair)

Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
They may be the infamous Svrakiss or really some people don't relate to Odium who don't want the Unity of Sel (for more mundane reasons). Anyway I think you take as a fact a thing without proofs. We don't know if the Selish people (not magic user...the average people) have some Innate Investiture from D&D (neither the Dor), the Selish human may predate the Shattering and not being created by D&D. The problem with your idea of the Dor predate D&D's death is about its position in the Cognitive. I may accept that D&D putted some power together and use it to "make shardic things"... But this "power" can't be the Dor for his position. The only example we have for massive Shardic power outside the Spiritual, is about the Splintered Shards. And if I don't remember wrong is stated that worldhopp to Sel is extremely dangerous for the Investiture in Sel's Cognitive Realm left from D&D's murder -
The pits are there also before Rashek... they was "build" by Leras near Ruind Shardpool to put the Stolen Investiture in the Atium cycle. In the end the Pits and the Well weren't further after Rashek's Ascension (map)... both of them are in a very limited region...Also in the ancient Terris they weren't much near... After all the Hero have to make a long and tiresome journey to reach the Well

Nightblood will feed of the Elantrian's Dor connection. But rememeber that Nightblood "hunger" keep grow while you use it. In the end, he would overcome the Elantrian ability to channel Dor (the same thing with an Allomancer)

Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yata replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The problem with the Selish Religions's Story is that we don't know if is hystory or mithology. The Aona and Skai murder happened probably thousands of years before Elantris not only hundreds (or Elantris was really early in the Cosmere Timeline) because Odium killed them before being trapped in Great Roshar and five thousands of years before WoTK Odium was already trapped there. I think the Dor came just after the D&D's Splintering... Nevermind if D&D was enemy or friends... we saw that Shards' Investiture may work together pretty well with some control. They have no need to push their power in the Cognitive (and probably they would fel this kind of change quite like a limitation). Returning to the main point. Probably popolations on Sel "discovered the Dor" and some phylosopher/magic user/worldhopper/scholar (Keshu) explored its nature and with this knowledge he began his religion. Other peoples (related to him or not) may want to stop his knowledge pushing to D&D again... this may be caused by Odium's Agent left on Sel, people who simply saw in "Unity" a murdered of the morals, and other possible causes. Anyway I have to thank you for your kind words... I will think again at the whole theory with the new Informations we obtained in the meantime (I wrote this quite 10 months ago) -
More likely he may gived to them some "extra ruin". Sure but if I don't rememeber wrong Scadrial itslef can't have more than 10000 years old (if Ruin and Preservation just after the Shattering created the planet) therefore also the original Terrismen have very little time for the Evolution's Standards.

I will try to answer: 1) Probably the Returned are pulled from the Beyond... they are dead man and everyone are pulled from the Beyond.... The Endowment's Splinter probably uses that Investiture to resist this cosmic Pull. 2)As said before, the Investiture need of a Returned are based on their effort to keep living instead of be pulled beyond the Realms. A living being have not this kind of problem. 3) No the reciver doens't gain a Divine Breath. It's like if the Divine Breath expend itself to generate a huge Healing to the reciver.... like a suicide, and of course its Investiture return to Endowment. 4) Nightblood may drain Investiture... all kind of Kinetic Investiture. Probably it's an uncounsous choise of the Helder, to give before his Breath instead of his Soul... or maybe the Breath are simply less merged with the guy. Nightblood in theory may creates some other oddly to get his own "food"... the Breath are the less strange. 5)In the whole book when Vasher throws Nightblood it's always unsheathed. The only time someone picked Nightblood with some inch of the Blade exposed (a priest) Nightblood began to drain his investiture. And Lightsong notice something strange with the guy. 6) about the Type 4 we know very little, therefore my answer is pure speculation. I think that Nightblood need Investiture because it has not enough Investiture of his own. We know that Nightblood can't manifest both Mind and his Full Power at the same time... probably it try simply to fill the needed Investiture. But Nightblood is an Endowment's creature and take with force is something aganist his Intent... This is to me the reason of the Corrupted Investuture it leaked out...The Sword try to take Investure but it can't keep it and release it in a corrupted form.
