  1. @stormgate Leras dies in HoA, it's was live before that moment... It's also mentioned in the book when he died (And his corpse dropped from the sky is the reason that push me to the Cosmere to be honest XD). Before that moment he was only serious wonded. This together with his fractured Mind, creates the Leras we saw. But it's not a Cognitive Shadow. For make a Mortal's Example: It's like a man who took a strong hit in the head and have in his vein a lot of Arsenico (poison)... Just take his last few seconds and extends them to thousands of years.

    Highspren?

I have re-checked to be sure but the only two reference to highspren in the books are: - Jashan: She talked to them in Shadesmar -Syl: when Kal says "I may escape but it's aganist the law", Syl replies: " I am not a HighSpren, the law doesn't matter, just what it's right matter" (a quick traslate from my book) Therefore probably the Highspren are pulled by the people who put the order and law above the rest
  3. Actually a Ferring may always stores all his Attribute... He simply knows how much store without die. We saw for example Feruchemist who stored a "not vital attribute" without problems... For example both Wax and Sazed stored all their weight in the books.
  4. It's possible (so far we know the Shards are the only being who actively extend in the Realms from the Spiritual Realm) for they to have some kind of "access point". But IF this is true... Probably the "Sun" is a visual amalaman of all the Shards power because the Scadrial's Sun description didn't fit to neither Ruin or Preservation
  5. But the Stonewards are with the Windrunners the only Orders we saw break their Bonds are leave their Blade and Plate (Dalinar's vision). Of course it's possible that the Stone Shamans (and the Shin but again, the Shin have too unique features on Roshar) are offspring of former Stoneward. The interesting part to me is: " The spirits of the stones themselves promised it" as far as we may see... The Spren saw the Radiant's Oath Break like a betrayal... Therefore "who are those Spirit who talk with the Shin after the Recreance ?" I like your idea... but I think the problem is more complex than that.
  6. Possibly, Maybe the "original fools" are the Vessels for what they did. Or some other Yolish tradition
  7. Mister Sanderson's Twitter (link) Peter AhlStrom's Twitter (link)
  8. I imagine that for this kind of question, you may ask on Twitter to Mister Sanderson or Peter.
  9. They are the follower of Tanavast, the first historical drink giver of the Cosmere. So far we know XD

    Conscious magic

I don't know... it's a side effect of Endowment's Investiture borned from Realmatical Reason. It's no more than the abilities of Invested beings to resist more from being manipulate by Magic. In a Narrative's Universe where everything is made by magical essence and the cosmic rules also work as interpretaction of Magic phenomen. It's hard to say what we call magic and what it's not. Or we may say that when a new life is made, the parents perform a ritual to steal a significative amount of Investiture to made their child's soul (well this puts the sex as "magic" to a new level )
  11. A simple thing that never came to my mind. If the drunk man at the party is indeed Jezrien. Szeth met him carring his own Honorblade.
  12. ok it took me a lot of time to find it. NEW QUESTION: Is it possible for a Shard to Invest every bit of his power ? If it's possible, would the Vesse de- Ascend and would he be the Shard's Vessel also in a mortal body?
  13. Well at least Nalan and the man who probably it's kalak know of Szeth and they know he has Jezrien's Blade. I will say that they know what it about to happen and for some reason they approve it. I see no other explaination for Nalan to do not hunt Szeth for what he did. Of course it's possible that he think at Szeth as a weapon instead of a killer and the Szeth's masters was the one to punish.
  14. Yes but I don't know how much time you may hold Stormlight without release it passively from your body... Maybe the Shardplate would help with this but probably a Plate just catch the released Stormlight to fuel the Plate itself.
  15. A Spike creates some Investiture intereference but the Hemalurgy is a low investiture magic System (it's the reason that made possible to use an Hemalurgic Spike as Metalmind like the Inquisitors do) Probably you may lash a Spike but your Lashing will last less than a standard invested object. A metalmind would be probably harder to lash (depending of the Feruchemical Charge)
  16. I remember Arsteel to be the best... I have to recheck it
  17. Like Alfa said, Marsh for example notices how also without normal sight, He still have a pretty good "visual" sight... Every Inquisitor is forced to burn always iron or steel and they develop Savantism in those metal pretty fast....A very Skilled savant may began to notice always littler piece of metal and trace inside objects... At his peak they began to "see" quite everything metal or not
  18. A steel/iron savant pushes his understanding of the blues line further. To the point he may recognize forms and with a little effort colors.
  19. I think the same, but her was also among the first generation to come in the Forests of Hell and therefore it's not native of Threnody. Maybe she is less compatible with the Shade's trasformation than people born on Threnody (for some kind of Investiture's intereference)... I have no proof for this thing, but it's something we have to considerate.
  20. But the whole Cosmere and its lifeform are made of Investiture, the Investiture's source is Adonalsium... Therefore everything and everyone are pieces of Adonalsium, the Shards are only a great chunk of whaterver he didn't use to Invest something else (like some unused raw material). Maybe Himself can't Invest everything He had and planned his own murder to further spread the "last chunk" through the Shards' birth

    Conscious magic

As far as I remember to perform every magic you have to put the Intent: - Allomancy: You have to want to burn metals -Feruchemy: You have to want store or tap a metalmind - Hemalurgy: You have to want to create a Spike and probably want to stole a specific piece of Soul -Awakening: You need a mental images of the Awakening and therefore you can't do this for error. - AonDor: You have to want to draw an Aon - Dahkor: To use your attive abilities you have to want it, and to gain the passive abilities someone else (and probably you) have to want to began the trasformation - Surgebinder: You have to want it. If I don't remember wrong in the Elantris' Ars Arcanum, the Author says that in all magic systems all you need is "want to perform magic" (the Selish magics need also Precision, but it's not relevant in this topic)
  22. I think that Elhokar is (like possibly other Roshar's rulers) a Cryptic's investiment. They observe him and search clues of Lightweaver's potential. Also if he will not be capable of became a great KR sending to him a Spren would probably improve him as a rulers (through the Truth and personal introspection), create a pro-radiant ruler and improved the Human Leadership for the future wars aganist Odium/Unmade/Voidbringer. I see this as a plan for Roshar's mankind improvement, putting a Cryptic in strategic position... Of course there is some risk but the reward is worthy
  23. When the Oaths were broken the Spren dies where he is... Kal "killed" Syl breaking his Oaths but at that time he didn't progress enough to fully mafifest her in the Physical and the result was a Dead Spren without any physical residue. If now He breaks his Oaths, Syl will spawn as Dead Shardblade because it's more pulled in the Physical Realm than before. The only case of Spren who survives without damage to a Oaths breaking is Pattern. Shallan began to slowly break her Oaths (or Truths) and Patter run away in the Cognitive before She can kill him.
