I would like to announce that Shivertongue is announcing that Chaos is tired.
-
I'd imagine that there are only a limited amount of breaths. If the uberBreaths are Splinters, then I'd imagine Endowment could only make so many before he/she would be able to support any more.

Bark. In case of flaming allomancers...

I wish! That would be awesome!

*looks sadly at his now completely empty bowl of sherbet" Oh wait! *Remembers he is Hoid at TWG, and uses the Shadesmar to go back to TWG*

I don't think that that is the right chart, though I think you're on the right track (I actually had a similar chart up at the end of HoA). I think it might be energy from self, energy from others, and energy from Shard/Adonalsium. So Feruchemy/Clayshan would be self energy, Dahkor/Hemalurgy/Awakening (Nightblood and normal), and Allomancers/Elantrians/Returned would be Shard/Adonalsium energy. I guess if you really wanted to, you could pretend the world is a closed system, which would make your chart more accurate. And I think that Surgebinding and Soulcasting are Shard Energy. They are both powered by Stormlight which seems an awful lot like the Mists from Mistborn.

Open call for questions to brandon from tor!

I agree. I think that Endowment "gives up" part of herself (i'm assuming its a she) to reconnect a body and a spirit, much like Vin did when she fueled Elend. -
One Question I Never Understood the Answer To (Spoilers)
Zas678 replied to DariusJenai's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Except that Elantris is hundreds of years before WoK. Considering that Elantris 2 is 10 years after (and the same with Elantris 3, I think), Raoden would've already united the shard by the time Hoid wrote the letter. It would've been ancient history by then (by our standard). -
I think off-worlders can use their magic on other planets, as long as their magic isn't tied to the land (like Elanrians are).

One Question I Never Understood the Answer To (Spoilers)

My understanding is that the giant Aon Rao (Elantris) was a "bridge", connecting the spirits of the Elantrians with the Spirit of Adonalsium/Power of Creation (the same power that's used when Allomancers burn metal). This Power (called Dor in book), is what changes the bodies so they heal faster, run faster, and even seem to shine. When the land changed, it "broke" the bridge so that it didn't provide all the energy it should. This meant the Elantrian bodies, which were used to such power coming through, all of the sudden had very little power coming through. Thus they "froze" in their state, making the bodies stick with the pain, not need food, etc. There's a question. Which came first- Elantris or Seons? If Elantris came first, than Aona could've designed it. But if the Seons came first, probably some very very smart people looked at the Aons inside the Seons and designed Elantris from that. Hmm. There's another question- did the Shaod (when people turn into Elantrians) happen before Elantris was built? In other words, are there Pre-Elantrian Elantrians? If so, they may have been able to make Elantris, though any Aons they made would probably be extremely weak. So, if Seons were before Elantris, than there must have been some Shaod that made people that were able to make Aons, who were probably fairly intelligent to make an ongoing phenomenon like that. If Elantris was before Seons, than Aona probably directed the construction, and then part of Elantris may also be in charge of the Shaod. Also- does it seem to anyone else that Raoden seems gifted with AonDor the way that Vin was talented with Allomancy? Is there a chance that Raoden could "tape" together the Splinters of Aona's shard to make a new shard, which he could hold? Except that Hoid wrote in his letter that Odium broke the shards so no one could use them. Darn. That defeats my idea. -
Many may be false but there is a grain of truth in all of them.

We know the Splinter too. He said that the Splinter inside Lightsong is what lets him see the intention of paintings and sometimes see glimpses of the future. -

The Skaze. For being mentioned once in the text, they sure seem important to how things work in Fjordell. I wonder why Hrathen never mentioned them. Is it because Wyrn knew he was going to betray him, so he kept him in the dark? Or maybe the gyorns never knew, Only Wyrn and the gradgets. Or maybe the Skaze just really like Dilaf. -
*starts whistling* (will anyone catch the reference?)

When you say Paradise, what exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean a utopia (bunch of people all getting along), or do you mean heaven(after death, everyone's figured everything out)?
-
It's possible that Odium feels he has more important targets first. From what Sazed said, he was still getting used to being a shardholder, so maybe Odium thinks that he can save Sazed for last? Except this is at least several hundred years after Sazed gets the Shard. (Since Alloy of Law is hundreds of years after Mistborn, and AoL is before Stormlight Archive)

One Question I Never Understood the Answer To (Spoilers)
Zas678 replied to DariusJenai's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
You know, it's interesting to note that Elantris is based upon Rao, or Spirit. Maybe what Shaod does is it increases someone's spiritual connection to Aona's shard. And maybe it happens while they are asleep so that their Cognitive presence doesn't mess with the Spiritual or Physical changes. . And looking back on my question, I realize the answer is obviously yes. That's where we get Elantrians in the first place. From an Aon someone made. Elantris. -

Hmm. If Seala was turned into the equivalent of a Reod-Elantrian due to a Aon, I wonder if you could do it the right way. Could you find the right Aon that would turn someone into an Elantrian? -
Sorry Trendkill, I know that the Dark side has cookies, but Chaos's side has ice cream. I am no longer your mercenary. (Grabs a big bowl of Sherbet)

One Question I Never Understood the Answer To (Spoilers)
Zas678 replied to DariusJenai's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Maybe there's a Sliver holding the remnant of Aona's shard, and he/she is picking the right people to help Elantris. Those that need the city, and the city needs them. Who else besides Raoden would've been able to inspire the people like he did? </ crazy theory> Huh. I never thought about that before. What if the Elantrians are Splinters? The Seons do seem to fit better, but the Elantrians seem eerily similar to the Returned. Magical powers, immortal, looked to as god, awesome looks, etc. -
Hey, the wiki is coming in handy! Huh. I never noticed the specific wording on that. "What they held has been splintered". So Aona didn't Splinter into whatever Splinters they are, Aona's shard Splintered. That's interesting.
-
*Spoliers (sort of) Cosmere terms follow* There are many of us that think that Seons are Splinters of Aona, but that is just our guess. It is possible to have splinters without shattering the shard. The "super breath" that the Returned have are actually Splinters of Endowment, yet he's still up and kicking (as far as we know). So maybe there's two types of Splinters. There's the type that's given (presumably at a sacrifice) from Shards, there's those that arise after a Shard is splintered (what verb does Hoid use when describing Aona?). So maybe Syl is a remnant from the past, but she hasn't been around anyone of honor, so she hasn't bonded to anyone like she has with Kaladin. Or maybe, she's a recent Splinter from when the Almighty died. Or maybe she isn't a Splinter at all. Isn't speculation fun?
