Ooh! I just had an idea. It would be interesting to have someone who, although they had a breath, were incapable of giving it away. You know, you have mutations in physical DNA, so why not in Spiritual DNA (although it's not really supposed to be interpreted that way)? Especially if he could receive Breaths.

Although I don't know what he's going to do for Nightblood. I know he was thinking of doing the same thing that he did with Warbreaker (with anyone who wanted to be an Alpha reader being one), but he is much more popular than he was back then.

My understanding is that a Sliver is someone who once held a major part of the shard. Confirmed slivers are Vin, TLR, and Kelsier (he picks up Preservation after Preservation's death, but before Vin becomes Preservation). I believe this means that they are more "in tune" with that shard. Look at how much TLR wanted things to stay the same after he came to power. Sazed mentions the Well being an "attuning force" to help them those that Ascend be able to become the Shard. A Splinter is a significant portion of a Shard that they give out (or maybe die into). It seems to be mainly in the Spiritual Realm (but then again, that's mostly just for Returned. The suspected ones could be different). Here is Brandon on Goodreads- note that I actually originally meant to put Splinter, but I'm know kind of glad that I didn't.

*Cosmere Spoilers* The Almighty actually says in his first/last vision to Dalinar "Return Men to the Shards they once bore." Now, that could mean the Dawnshards, or it could even just mean Shardblades. But. It could mean doing as Sazed has done, and Uniting Shards of Adonalsium. It's unclear whether it means unite Alethkar, or if it means unite Roshar, or if it means unite the Cosmere. I think we'll have to wait and see to find out for certain.

Also, it's a LOT easier to find things in Warbreaker than it is in any of the other books. But considering that only applies to the uber-fans (who would almost certainly buy a book anyways), It's mostly irrelevant to the cause Which makes my post pointless. So I'll try again. I think it's a great idea, but I'm glad that he doesn't do it with all of his books. It gets people interested in him without having to make an investment.

pg. 368, if you want a reference. Also, For the sake of not confusion, should we say that Seventeenth Shard is a group of people in the Cosmere, and that 17th Shard is us? Just use that as the industry standard?

What you're talking about seems like an expansion of the whole concept of "technology" and "magic" in the Alcatraz books. The only trouble is, I don't think that Soulcasters are fabrials. I like that idea. It runs with the whole "no matter who's in charge, they're mean" thing that Kaladin has going on.

Maybe it's a lighteyed thing. Or a shardbearer thing. It doesn't seem so common that Kaladin recognizes it.

I don't think that Wyrn needs to be a Sliver. I think he could just have access to a sliver. I believe that Seons and Skaze are Splinters (of Aona and Skai, respectively) , and that while Seons are able to talk to each other instantaneously (through the Cognitive Realm, probably), Skaze are able to see bits of the future. And I think that Vin could've seen the future as Preservation if she had some free time. Or at least some sort of future. Doesn't the Almighty talk about how the future is hard to see, how it splits farther and farther the farther away you look?

Do I have that list on the Brandonothology Chaos? I don't think I do.
