  1. Oh that's easy. You become Hoid.
  2. Except that Returned keep mainly the same personality as before they were returned. And Seons don't reflect their owners personalities (look at Hrathen's Seon. It doesn't reflect his personality very well.) And I don't like using Clod as an example. He is an uber exception. He's a Returned, hiding his Divine Breath, who was given a wealth of breath, who then died and was given another Breath to become a Lifeless. He's got such a mix of different breaths. Yet, even with all of this, he doesn't show any emotion. He may be thinking, but he's not showing it.
  3. So, as many of you have noticed, we now have a multitude of pictures in the Mistborn Gallery. I thought it was looking sparse, so I emailed Inkthinker to see if we could post his images from TWG on here. He gave me permission, so I uploaded them all, with his comments.
  4. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Also, color: Whaddya think of the eyes open? Also added a few light scars across the face and arms. Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  5. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Hum. I did not remember that. I need to buckle down and re-read the whole series and make notations... I've gotten a bit through the first book, but that's not saying much. Anyhow, update: Generally improved, I hope. Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

    Inkthinker Koloss 3.0

The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Pair of koloss, one immature and one fully mature. I've gone over this design about three times now, so I think I'm about nailed on koloss, but I'm still up for thoughts if you spot something that's not clicking properly. 8. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Vin, from about the end of Book 02. I'm having some trouble determining what she would be wearing aside from the mistcloak. I found references to pockets so I assume she's wearing trousers, but I didn't find anything on footwear or shirts or otherwise. I'm really interested in finding out more of what Vin should be wearing during those climactic scenes. Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  9. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Second take. Not nearly as blobby (still a little bit of flesh-sack action), still pretty chaotic but lifting it off the ground some helps. Also dumped the bird wing (I'd forgotten that there are no birds on Scadrial) and the oversized insect-looking limbs in favor of more misshapen semi-mammalian bits. I also tried to detail up a bit the muscles and bones inside, since they're meant to be visible through the "smoky skin". Thoughts? It's okay if it's still not working for you, but it's helpful to be specific. Do you think the hair looks right? Or should mistwraiths be hairless (figuring that it's both A)disgusting and 2)an advanced transformation technique more suitable to the kandra)? Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  10. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Mistwraiths From pgs 152-153: "...perhaps ten feet tall and twice as long" "The creature has smoky, translucent skin, and Vin could see it's bones. It had dozens upon dozens of limbs, and each one looked as if it had come from a different animal. There were human hands, bovine hooves, canine haunches, and others she couldn't identify." "Many of the limbs, in fact, didn't even look functional -they jutted out from the creature's flesh in a twisted, unnatural fashion." "It wasn't just a blob, though... there was a strange logic to it's form. It had a distinct skeletal structure and [...] she thought she could make out translucent muscles and sinew wrapping the bones." "And heads -she counted siz. Desipite the translucent skin, she could make out a horse head sitting beside that of a deer. Another head turned towards here, and she could see its human skull. The head sat upon a long spinal column attached to some kind of animal torso, which was in turn attached to a jumble of bones." Okay, so in retrospect, I think I could make the body a bit longer and even lift it off the ground some. I might have overemphasized the chaotic aspect over the logical assembly. So I'll probably tackle this again at some point. Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  11. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Couple roughs for a Terris steward, based on Sazed in particular. I try, as always to use the passages from the book as the basis. In my paperback edition (2nd MM, I believe) that I'm currently marking up with visual reference notes, Vin meets Sazed on pgs 154/155. "Sazed had a long, flat face and a willowy body. He was even taller than Kelsier -tall enough to be a bit abnormal- and his arms were unusually long". "His earlobes had been stretched out, and the ears themselves contained studs that ran around their perimeter. He wore the lavish, colorful robes of a Terris steward -the garments were made of embroidered, overlapping V shapes, alternating among the three colors of his master's house". I'm punking out on the embroidery for the moment 'case this is a rough. Someone in the main forum reminded me that Sazed, at least, shaves his head. I'm fairly certain I remember references to sandals. I put a lot of metal on him, in the form of various bracelets, bands, torcs and rings. I think I might have made up the spectacles and the hood on the robes. Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  12. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. I was working on some stuff that involved using a skull illustration as a template, and I took a little time to do a couple extra heads based on my favorite blue beasties: Busted out pretty quick on the colors, but I like 'em well enough to post. If you don't care for 'em, you can check out the plain linework here. I think I didn't quite get 'em right the last time I drew 'em, but I'm taking a new tack. I think before I made the mistake of treating the immature koloss as appearing too "fat" rather than appearing like an abnormally muscular man in a sack of skin that doesn't quite fit, and isn't properly attached to the muscles underneath. Hopefully I've gotten a little closer this time, 'cause this is much creepier (I think). Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  14. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Messing about a bit with color. Sanderson describes the sun as red, which implies to me a red light, but I don't know how far he wants to take that... if the sunlight were indeed red, everything would look a little weird. 15. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Hopefully I've gotten closer on this one (I asked for help first, this time): Still not sure on a couple things, like the placement of the torso spikes or the costuming in general... I like the cloak, but I'm not sure if I like the shirtlessness. It shows off the nail heads, but... meh. I'll think of something, eventually. Or be corrected. 17. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Rough sketch for Steel Inquisitors. I could not find (at least, on a couple quick skims) a description of their clothing, so I went on a bit of a tangent. All I can recall is that they wear robes, I think? Guess I didn't even get that part right, though... Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

  18. The following is Inkthinker's words, as this is his image. Hey all, I'm a big fan of the Mistborn books, and I love a lot of Sanderson's design descriptions enough to the point where they drive me to fanart. This is just a random Vin moment, from no place in particular in the books. I did want to try and get her design as close to Brandon's descriptions as I could, but I confess to relying on my unreliable memory for most of the details (aside from the mistcloak, which I actually looked up. Page 90 of the paperback edition describes it as being "made of hundreds of long, ribbon-like strips [...] sewn together at the chest and shoulders, but mostly they hung separate from one another, like overlapping streamers"). Her daggers are glass, her coinpouch is tied in such a way as to release from the belt if Pulled upon, and she wears trousers and a shirt and goes barefoot. I even put a couple tiny vials for metals (but I think I made up the gloves). Her hair is black, her build petite. Inkthinker http://inkthinker.deviantart.com/

    This is so great!
  21. Yeah! Good for you.
  22. I think that the first is not exactly right. A Sliver is someone who used to hold the majority of the power of a Shard. They have a little bit of leftover specialness in them. It means your personality is a little more like the shard (TLR, keeping things the same after a thousand years), and that you are a little more attuned to the shard. The second might be true. Except, we have to say that only is the case when the Splinter is a separate object from the Human intelligence. Because Divine Breath isn't intelligent (that I know of). It could even work with Nightblood. He is powerless, pointless, unless he has someone to hold him, someone to direct his thoughts. Perhaps that's the point of humans (in the bond). To give Splinters a point of reference.
  23. One thing about spren being Splinters of Cultivation- there is some connection between Highstorms (and perhaps Stormlight?) and Spren. In Shin, where there are no Highstorms, there seem to be no spren. (pg 433) "Not a one. No windspren, no lifespren, nothing."
  24. I agree. As Brandon says of Hemalurgy: (HoA Q&A)
  25. So you're saying that Seons, naturally, are like Ien during Elantris? Only vague recognition possible? And if they bind to a human then they gain an intelligence, as a result of that bind? I wonder. Is there a net gain of intelligence when humans and seons are bound?
