  1. Is it allright if I put it on the Gallery (on the bottom of the page)?
  2. And I've been tempted to do one for Way of Kings. It's just so long.....
  3. No, Featerwriter, I believe you're right. The seasons are temporary. Hardback, page 323 "Dalinar's stormwardens projected another few weeks of spring, followed by a return to summer. Hopefully it wouldn't turn to winter instead." It's like this in the past too. In Dalinar's vision of when the Radiants give up their Shardplates and Shardblades, there's odd weather too. Page 728 "Storming weather," the man muttered. "How long's it going to last? Been eight weeks already." Eight weeks? Forty days of winter at once? That was rare." The other really really interesting thing about the Highstorm? They have some connection to the spren. When Rysn is in Shin (during one of the interludes), she notices the green grass, the soft soil, and the utter lack of spren. This seems to be because there is no Highstorms in Shin (because of the mountians).
  4. Wow! That is amazing! It's like the most in-depth Ars Arcanum ever! It is now on the Brandonothology.
  5. Here's what we have on Spiritual DNA And it seems like I was wrong. Sigh. Tor-

  7. Vin is up against her strongest opponent yet- Jon Snow. This write up is pretty intense (although it does include Cadmium), and this is going to be a really really close match. Vin needs our support! http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2011/03/cage-match-2011-jon-snow-versus-vin.html
  8. I don't think that he's saying that Odium is coming to ride the storms. I think that he's saying Odium is coming in that the Desolation is coming.

    Dates

You're right, I didn't notice that there were only 5 numbers for the Day. I'm gonna have to come up with a new way to calculate it. Maybe divide the number by 5? I'll figure it out.
  10. EDIT- Look at this thread instead. It's much better. So now I think I am going to attempt to understand the dating system of the Rosharians. So, we have one through ten. 1= Jes 2= Nan 3= Chach 4= Vev 5= Palah 6= Shash 7= Betab 8= Kak 9= Tanat 10= Ishi So according to the epigraphs, the dating system goes like this: Collected on the first day of the week Palah of the month Shash of the year 1171 Day/Week/Month This would mean that a Rosharian year is about three of our years. Vevishes, Palahishev Ishashan Chachanan Vevanev Vevahach Palaheses Palahevan Palahakev Shashanan Shashabev, Betabanan Betabanes Kakanev Kakevah Kakashah” Kakashah Kakakes Kaktach Tanatesach Tanatanes Tanatanev So I misunderstood this. Now that I'm looking at it, I think I got it wrong. I think it's month/week/day. So Tanatesach is 9th month, first week, third day. This means you can figure out a day in our times by figuring out how many days away it is from the beginning of the year. Add 110 to the day you get so you receive an accurate number (because there is no number 0). The first day of their year is JesJesJes (111), or perhaps just Jes. So Christmas (258 days from Jan 1st, add 110 to become 358) would be Chachpalahkak, or Chalakak. Today (March 28th, 86 days away, add 110 to become 196) would be Jestanash. There seems to be a tendency to shorten wherever possible, to make it less cumbersome on the mouth. What do you guys think? Any comments? Mistakes? Lets

    Metallic Jobs

Malatium could be used to make a great therapist. ( I know, I know, there's no Malatium)
  12. I know. I wonder. Is it a result of having survived the Storm? Of relying so much on Stormlight? On being Honorable? On Syl?
  13. AVPS? A Very Potter.... Soundtrack?
  14. I would like to announce that I made a Theory! And that I am member #16, so I feel special. See? http://www.17thshard.com/forum/user/16-zas678/ EDIT- Unforunately, Peter joined too late (#18), so the Seventeenth Member of the 17th Shard is a member who's posted once. *sigh*.
  15. Quick, use contradistinction on their online times to prove they are the same person!
  16. But if you get enough power together, you can get minds. Look at Nightblood.
  17. I've got a comment on that last comment, which ended up turning into a theory.
  18. There is also: 5. Mystery fact. We don't know one of the reasons why (Sazed says so). It may have something to do with Spiritual DNA, or some other cosmere term. 6. She's an extremely intuitive Mistborn. She is very experienced and very powerful.
  19. So we come down to this again. It's been a year, and we've gotten some new quotes, some new terminology (Hey Investiture!), and a lot of time to think about it. But the question still remains: Where does the power from Allomancy come from? Here's what Brandon says about the magic system: So this source is the point of debate. Is the source Preservation? Chaos seems to think so. He thinks that Preservation powers all of the allomancy. After all, Allomancy is "of" Preservation. But then what about this? Why does supplying their own magic system require expending power in a costly way? The reason why is that Preservation doesn't actually supply power to the Allomancers. The power goes through the Shard, sure, but it doesn't actually come from it. It comes from the Power of Creation. This Power of Creation, I see it as this massive well of energy- supplying the magic for many end-positive magics like AonDor, Allomancy Chaos says that the Power of Creation is just a power of creation- that since the shards are pieces of Adonalsium, that that's it- they are the highest source, that the power of creation is just a different word for "shardic power". Shards run off this same power. They don't have unlimited amounts of it, just like an Allomancer can only flare his energy so much at a time. But Shards are kept alive and receive their energy to affect the world through the Power of Creation. I further believe that this Power of Creation supplies all the Shards, and many magic systems. It powers AonDor most likely, and probably ClayShan and Dakhor as well. It wouldn't power Feruchemy, as Brandon has repeated often that the power from Feruchemy comes from yourself, not from elsewhere. Hemalurgy, actually, draws on some of the Power of Creation to keep its users alive. Breaths? Probably not. And Returned? Definitely not. For Roshar, I still feel like I don't have nearly enough information to make a guess. So, any questions? Comments? Concerns? I can do this at least: Old Principle of Intent PS I believe the Principle of Intent on a couple of key issues. I believe that humans access the power of creation primarily through "their" shard in a manner that is in line with the Shard's Intent. So yes, Preservation preserves the user's power, Endowment allows users to "give" their own power, and Knight Radiants get their power by keeping their Oaths to Honor (the Words). I just don't agree with it on the power source. My old theory. New comments start on page 2.

    Request

I've got a request. Does anyone have a transription of Sazed's quotes in Hero of Ages? I'd like to be able to search and copy them without having to type them.
  21. Plus the fact that Leras was dead, so the shards were "desperate" for a host.
  22. Nope. Sorry. I think that's what happens when you receive a Hemalurgical spike. Tor Q&A
  23. I don't have them all yet. I haven't had the time. Just Elantris. Follow the link to find them.

  24. . But it was
  25. Happy Birthday!
