  1. I'm Pre-WoT. My family picked up Elantris mainly because of the quote on the cover from Orson Scott Card. We all loved it so much, that we went right out and bought Mistborn (the only other one out.) I only started theorizing, however, after HoA. My first thread that I saw was the HoA Q&A that still, even now, provides the main foundation for our understanding of the Cosmere. It's the first time we heard Shard, the first time we talked about Hoid, and the first time we started trying to piece it together. EDIT- All the books together. People had been trying to piece together Vin and hemalurgy and Ruin for a while beforehand.
  2. I think that there is some way for anyone to be able to get to the Shadesmar. Why? The Way of Kings (the in-story book). In it Nohaden talks about how he walks instead of taking the normal way, and in one of the Jasnah epigraphs, it talks about traveling in "the blink of an eye" across Roshar. I think this way has been lost, but I think that it could be found again, especially given Brandon's dislike for travel scenes. And maybe not anyone can access the Shadesmar. Maybe only certain guides can, and they can take people with them. Maybe that's what happened on Sel. EDIT- wasn't finished. Someone came, said "hey was Hoid here", they say "yes", and then they all say "let's catch him!"
  3. I don't think that Odium wants to end the world. I think instead he wants to make life as miserable as possible for everyone. He doesn't want anyone to trust one another, to like one another. He wants man to constantly be in a state of fear and destruction. He gets satisfaction from Hate. It's who he is. If everyone is dead, than there is no one left to hate.
  4. I've got another idea closely related to Charity. What about Benevolence? It seems to have a little more shardy ring to it.

This is not mine, it's Art-Zealot's, but I thought it was sweet.

  7. Except for this: what about your Principle of Intent? What do Shardblades do? They break. They shatter, they destroy. Sure, they can (and were) used to protect people. But Syl, an Honorspren that believes wholehardedly in doing the right thing, telling the truth, keeping to your word, despises Shardblades. Now if Shardblades were splinters, then Syl could be getting upset about how things of Honor are being used as things of Odium. That's another possibility too.
  8. Elantrians could teleport there using Aons. Getting back though....
  9. Even if you can only play it once. It's the game of a lifetime!
  10. I haven't bought a game in years. I just know if I do, I won't get anything done for a week, and I'm a big enough procrastinator as it is. So for me? Age of Mythology. On the XP. Oh yeah.
  11. How's this for encouragement? A person shows up in a dark cloak, and strange shadows obscure his face. "You have something I want," he says to Chaos, his voice hard as steel. "Information that is vital to the cause. Questions that have been answered." He looks up slowly, revealing his horrifying face, void of color with twisted bones and spikes through his eyes. "I am a DahkLifequisbringer. I have come to... collect."
  12. Facebook Status: Friend- It really bugs me that very little people today know who Groucho Marx is... Me-You know, I don't think I want to be any club that accepts him as a member.
  13. How comes Seons only went crazy after their charge became an Elantrian? Why didn't they change when Elantris fell? Do Seons go through some sort of change during the Shaod?
  14. Seons could just be the product of a very very complicated Aon. Sort of like how Nightblood is from breaths. (Note that I do agree with you, I'm just presenting an opposing viewpoint for fun). Then again, I believe that while Seons are connected and "supplied" with spiritual energy by the Dor, Nightblood doesn't have that connection because he's man-made. Instead of being created by a shard, he was created out of splinters of men (Breaths). Wait a second. The only problem with that is that Seons didn't go crazy when Elantris fell. In fact, they only went crazy when their person becomes an Elantrian. Maybe, instead of being connected through Elantris, they are connected directly to either the Shard or the Power of creation. Hmm. And yes, the divine breath is confirmed.
  15. Alright. I'm double posting here, but that's because I don't want to start a new thread. So. We've received information that WoK, Elantris, and Warbreaker have Splinters in them, but Mistborn does not. The new definition that we have is that splinters hold some of the power of the shard, but they aren't human. So who do you think the splinters are? Honorspren, Seons/Skaze, and the Divine Breath that Returned have? Or something else?
  16. I'm pretty sure the place that Shallan and Jasnah go to at the end of WoK is Shadesmar. The place with all the spheres? If I remember correctly, Jasnah says something like "How dare you try and enter the Shadesmar with one sphere!"
  17. I was skimming the WoK, and as I was reading some of the flashbacks, I realized something. Kaladin is a lot like Joseph from the Bible. I mean really. Look at the story. You have a family, with a kid with a special talent who is sold into slavery/drafted into the army. He does the best he can do, and he goes about as far as he can get. When he does the ultimate thing for honor, though, he gets put in prison/sold as a slave. He struggles without freedom when finally, finally, because of his special talent, he gets put as the Ruler's right hand man. Is it anyone else, or is it just me?
  18. Charity? That would explain the "old widows trial" of doing a service to others.
  19. I'll post more tomorrow night.
  20. No, I think that preservation didn't give his power when people used allomancy. Let me explain. I think that the power of preservation is kind of a giant reserve of spiritual energy. It isn't attributed to any shards. I think this is the dor.
  21. Or maybe the Dor (as I've said before) is just the "power of creation" that powers Allomancy. And remember how Vin misinterprets her Seeking powers, and thinks the collection of Ruin's conciousness is a Mistborn? Even though he definitely was not using Allomancy?
  22. Here is what Raoden says about the dropped illusion: " I sensed the Dor the moment before my Aon fell, and it was coming from that priest."
  23. A person shows up in a dark cloak, and strange shadows obscure his face. "You have something I want," he says, his voice hard as steel. "Information that is vital to the cause." He looks up slowly, revealing his horrifying face, void of color with twisted bones and spikes through his eyes. "I am a DahkLifequisbringer. I have come to... collect."

  24. I would like to announce that I love Mr. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. Also, Puck. If you can (especially for my collection) could you get an audio recording of the questions and answers? That way it can be "Brandon said:" instead of "Brandon talked about:".
  25. I really like this theory. It makes sense, especially if the Principle of Intent is true. I have a slightly different idea. How about, instead of Aona being Love, she is Compassion? It would give much of the same things that Love does, and it seems to make the Pool make a little more sense. Then again, that is edging closer to Endowment, but still. I think that "Love" would be too often interpreted as romance instead of that feeling of helping and caring for others. Does that make sense?
