  1. Maybe Sazed sees himself as Creation. That is what we get if Ruin and Preservation work together.
  2. Does TWG know that we're hear? I know that there was a post made for Hoid's Compendium, but I don't think one was ever made for 17th shard. Was there?
  3. I wonder if Syl can see the Shadespren ( I like that name). Can the spren see each other even if others can't? We know that Rock can see Syl. Can he see Shadespren too? If not, does that mean that they aren't really spren?
  4. Well I suppose part of them all being knocked down is that when they die, that causes drastic changes in the world. Drastic changes in the world are a lot more interesting to read about (generally) than the same-old-same-old. Remember that Ruin and Preservation ruled for thousands and thousands of years before dying.
  5. What is the quote for Elithanithile? Just for reference.
  6. Curses! I posted too late...
  7. Does anyone remember when Adolin is dueling, and Dalinar is telling Elohkar and Sadeas about the Way of Kings and Elohkar starts being paranoid and tells them that he sees people with symbols? Shallan also sees symbols. Jasnah says they have something to do with natural Soulcasting. Does this mean that King Elohkar is actually good for something? Could he be a Soulcaster?
  8. Andrew- Shallan does give a truth the first time. She says she's frightened, and the voices say something like "that is true".
  9. One thing to note is that the Almighty is there before the "last desolation". The Herald with the POV in the prelude uses it, talking about the king of the Heralds. "Almighty, you're shattered too."
  10. I doubt that. I bet that Kaladin will keep him close, just because he endured bridge four. He probably won't be a bodygaurd or a soldier, but neither will Rock. But I bet that Kaladin will probably see them both fairly often.
  11. Lerasium would make a pretty big difference on Scadrial. If someone were to swallow it, it would mean another 1000 years of super allomancers, probably with them being aristocrats of some sort. True, it wouldn't be as big as a difference as it would on Roshar, but it would cause problems. And one thing about this letter is that we don't know when it was written. Maybe he gave the element to Galivar, telling him some about Adonalsium, much as he did with Dalinar. Gavilar would be a pretty good bodygaurd for an important element. He was one of the best swordsmen in Roshar, and only went down because Szeth was a Binder. That could be were Hoid kept it safe.
  12. I think that Galladon might be looking for Hoid because of whatever happens in book 2. I, unfortunately, don't think that it's Raoden with him, but Kiin's son, Kaise, grown up. Why not Raoden? Because he's a king and an Elantrian, and he wouldn't leave his people (or Sarene) unless he absolutely had to. And while searching for a meddling planet hopper may be intriging, I don't think Raoden would find that he has to. Why Kaise? Elantris will revolve around Kiin's twin children, two, because Kaise's not as good at picking up languages as his sister Daorn is (Thinker speaks the language poorly), and because he seems like the kind of person to be Thinker. Why Galladon? Who else is a grumpy Dula?
  13. I don't know. It might be after Warbreaker, but I don't think it's after Mistborn. Two shards reconnecting and getting a host would seem to be the thing that Hoid would mention in a letter. EDIT- And I think Elantris 2 may be before Way of Kings. There are some people in the interlude that have either changed, or are new characters that will be in Elantris 2. Plus, what would Elantris 2 be like without Galladon?
  14. That's what I gathered too. And from the vision Gavilar has of Nohaden, with those giant creatures of stone. 850: There aren't stones. They're creatures.Massive creatures, easily five or six times the size of a person, their skin dull and grey like granite. They had long limbs and skeletal bodies, the forelegs-or were tehy arms-set into wide shoulders. The faces were lean, narrow. Arrowlike.
  15. Szeth hides it. Interlude 1-2: They bid him farewell, ignoring his broad hints that another cup of beer would prompt him to tell his greatest tale: that of the time when he'd seen the Nightwatcher herself and stolen a sphere that glowed as black at night. That tale always discomforted Szeth, as it reminded him of the strange sphere Gavilar had given him. He'd hidden that carefully in Jah Keved. He didn't know what it was, but he didn't want to risk a master taking it from him.
  16. The "being chased" is what leads me to see that Hoid is the author. Oh Wait! What if this letter is being written to whoever has taken up the mantle for the Almighty? To the Shardholder (is that the term we're using?) of the Almighty? No. That doesn't work. The Almighty is dead. And if someone new took up the mantle, then Hoid wouldn't know him. And it doesn't seem like Hoid thinks that the reader is in danger. It seems like he's somewhere obscure, merely observing the events of the cosmere, and Hoid is trying desperately to have him help.
  17. I don't think there is a distance thing with Mistborn. The only reason that Elantrians are weakened by distance is because the Aons are directly tied to the land. The Dakhor monks don't seem to have any different powers in Arelon compared to Teod, where they would probably be weaker. In mistborn, Vin goes all the way from Terris to Luthadel, and she doesn't seem to notice any difference in her power as she moves from place to place. EDIT- The "voidlight" sphere is making more and more sense as I think about it. How would've Hoid gotten it? In the prologue, it has a man with a long grey and black beard near the Beggars' Feast. It *might* be Hoid, and he could've followed Szeth and tracked down where he put the voidlight sphere.
  18. I think that we might see that Sadeas is not as loyal to the crown as we think he is... Prologue: "I... expected you... to come," The king said between gasps. ... The king coughed. "You can tell... Thaidakar... that he's too late...." "I don't know who that is," Szeth said, ... The king frowned. "Then who...? Restares? Sadeas? I never thought..." If Sadeas is the third person that the king thinks of having an assassin after him, that doesn't speak much of him.
  19. Hmm. Do we know that Odium is Rayse? It makes sense, but is it said anywhere? No, never mind, the epigraphs in part 2 say that Rayse has the worst shard, and Odium is pretty bad. PS- I just realized Odium is a word. Who knew?
  20. I don't think that there needs to be more than one. And I think Ruin meant that Ruin can't create, and neither can Preservation, because it is too different from what the shards are. However, a shard like Endowment could create life by "endowing" cells with movement, fishes with legs, and monkeys with brains. Or something like that. EDIT-
  21. Well, I know why I think that is Tee hee. But come on. Some reviews of Way of Kings complain that the characters are too noble all the time. I can't seriously consider anything about Hoid otherwise without significant evidence on that side. Are you sure Alavanta is a name? Could just be the first word of the sentence, and does not need to be a name. Nope. Not sure at all. But it kinda makes sense. The sentence could mean "Alavanta is crazy." Or Alavanta could be 'this' or it could be 'Roamer', or anything. It just seems a namey kinda word.
  22. Lerasium is the bead that Elend swallowed to become mistborn. It seems like Hoid would take a bead, because if he didn't, then someone would take that bead, swallow it, and we would have ten more generations of super-allomancers, instead of the normal powers that we are used to now. But it could be the black sphere that Gavilar gave Szeth. I think that that might be some sort of Anti-stormlight thing. Like it would suck back Stormlight? But then Gavilar would've used it against Szeth. Maybe it has something to do with Parshendi?
  23. I'm pretty sure they'd be pretty much powerless (when it comes to Aons). This may explain why they aren't shiny.
  24. Just to clarify, this is what Brandon has to say about Skaze: (from Elantris annotations) "Oh, and if you caught the reference to the word 'Skaze,' then good for you. The Skaze are a group that will appear in the sequel, when and if I get around to writing it. They're pretty much evil Seons." I think that the Dor might be the Power of Creation that Brandon talks about when explaining the power of allomancy. "The powers of Ruin and Preservation are Shards of Adonalsium, pieces of the power of creation itself. Allomancy, Hemalurgy, Feruchemy are manifestations of this power in mortal form, the ability to touch the powers of creation and use them. These metallic powers are how people's physical forms interpret the use of the Shard, though it's not the only possible way they could be interpreted or used. It's what the genetics and Realmatic interactions of Scadrial allow for, and has to do with the Spiritual, the Cognitive, and the Physical Realms. So when a person is burning metals, they aren't using Preservation's body as a fuel so to speak--though they are tapping into the powers of creation just slightly. When Vin burns the mists, however, she'd doing just that--using the essence of Preservation, the Shard of Adonalsium itself--to fuel Allomancy. Doing this, however, rips 'troughs' through her body. It's like forcing far too much pressure through a very small, fragile hose. That much power eventually vaporizes the corporeal host, which is acting as the block and forcing the power into a single type of conduit (Allomancy) and frees it to be more expansive." Maybe this "power of creation" is what the Dor is.
  25. We call the addressee Alavanta from what Grump says "What a fool's quest this is. Alavanta kamaloo kayana." I know that is very likely not it, but it's a name that we can agree on that will make it so we aren't calling him "Addressee". Anywho, maybe Alavanta isn't as much against intervention as we think he is. Or maybe Hoid interferes more than we realize.
