  1. Silver has three known effects: it can repel/reverse effects of a shade attack, it can shatter a Luhel bond, and it can anchor a traveler through a Cognitive anomaly. We also have a suggestion in the Coppermind that it could kill spren permanently. What do these all have in common? They all involve a Cognitive entity in the Physical Realm or the other way around. Shades are Cognitive Shadows attacking people in the Physical Realm. The Luhel bond is a Physical exchange with a Cognitive entity. The chain is used for a Physical entity moving in the Cognitive Realm. My theory is that silver prevents the Investiture from Cognitive entities from affecting the Physical. This explains all the uses of silver we know. Shades cannot cross Physical silver without interacting with it which would block their Investiture. The Investiture damage from Shades can be reversed because the investiture has to corrupt the Physical body. The effect on the Luhel bond would be obvious. Spren, being in the Physical Realm, would be very susceptible to silver since they are entirely Investiture in a Cognitive entity. The Investiture from the anomaly can't affect the Physical traveler.
  2. My thoughts: Harmony: Twinlight Autonomy: Sandlight Preservation: Welllight Ruin: Decaylight Devotion: Citylight Dominion: Lordlight or Skailight if you love puns Ambition: I love the Shadelight suggested earlier. Endowment: Breathlight
  3. This has some interesting implications in spiking yourself to avoid detection by things like Seekers. I could see an assassin spiking themselves, getting in the room with their victim, pulling the spike, and driving nails through them with A-steel. Nobody would be able to detect them as a Coinshot prior to the assassination.
  4. Also our planet has large amounts of readily available salt because it is dissolved in our oceans. Lumar does not have a saltwater ocean, so salt is likely not as easily obtainable.
  5. I'm not sure but I did a reread and it only says that he has been there for at least 300 years. He clearly prefers to work in secret, and may have been there far longer. Riina discovered that he was there, not that he arrived. This is an important distinction, as it suggests he predates Riina's arrival.
  6. My personal crazy theory: the men of red and gold are awakened sculptures containing nuclear bombs. They are the "bearers of the final metal". What is the last naturally occurring metal on the periodic table? Uranium. What do they do? Wipe out planet's. What does this really well? A lot of nukes.
  7. I love how closely this aligns with the Allomantic Metals alignment as well. EXIST is Internal/Pulling, Change is Internal/Pushing, WEIGH is External/Pulling, and MOVE is External/Pushing. This view opens up a LOT of new ground in theorizing about that Dawnshard mural!
  8. Another interesting Sorceress-adjacent point I haven't seen mentioned yet: timing. She arrived about 300 years ago. The Iriali left about 300 years ago. Coincidence? Or something more?
  9. Relevant WoB: Eric-d-Culver Can you confirm: is Virtuosity one of the original sixteen Shards? If not, what Shards make it up? Brandon Sanderson Ah, this is an excellent question. Yes, Virtuosity is one of the original sixteen. That's a good question; they are getting wise to my tricks. Secret Project #3 Reveal and Livestream (March 22, 2022)
  10. Personally I doubt it. My headcannon immediately went to Drab. There also is likely a lower limit to how much Connection can be stored at once. If you stored enough Connection as to be unseen you would also likely be storing enough Connection that you might lose access to Feruchemy since you are no longer connected to Ruin and Preservation.
  11. Exactly. Intent is a result of the "spin" of Investitrons (my term for the Investiture particle) just as magnetism is the result of electron spin.
  12. More recent WoB: Dave Smith Can a Mistborn burn any god metal such as tanavastium? Brandon Sanderson Yes they could. Footnote: Previously Brandon indicated they would need a tie to that type of Investiture. YouTube Spoiler Stream 2 (June 3, 2021)
  13. Fixed. And good point.
  14. Crazy theory (SP4 and SA5 spoilers):
  15. But it was such a boon to their cooking!
  16. Kaladin- Ascends to Honor Ishar- dies Dalinar- dies, becomes Fused. Upon Kaladin's Ascension, swears Oath and becomes new Bondsmith Herald
  17. Would it have to be tested on Roshar? The Heralds cannot leave the system but the Honorblades seem more mobile. I suspect the Ghostbloods stole the Honorblade in order to try to take Surgebinding to their home planet.
  18. My headcannon is that Hoid is gathering up all these magic systems in order to reassemble Adonalsium.
  19. I have 4 points against the choices you made: 1. Compounding is a combination of 2 magic systems. 2. You are right on Hemalurgy 3. Aons can be used like computer code. 4. Bondsmiths unchained are insanely powerful.
  20. I think this is a Willshaper Parshendi. The bars on the faceplate strongly resemble the glyph for "freedom" which is a characteristic of the Willshapers.
  21. I propose Phylum Coronuscia. I think it is more likely a class of the Phylum Chordata than its own Phylum. The distinctive feature of Chordata is a spinal column or notochord. Many of these creatures seem to have some level of intelligence and central control of their bodies, which suggests a spinal cord-type structure. Also, the Parshendi are members of this class as well and they definitely have a nervous system similar to humans. Placing it at the Class level puts Coronuscia on par with Mammalia, Amphibia, Insectivora, etc.
  22. Do we know Oathgates can be moved? Also it occurs to me that speculating about this prior so SA5 is kinda pointless as there seems to be some major shift that may fundamentally alter the assumptions we are working from.
  23. To paraphrase GRRM, "The parrot is a tricksy bird."
  24. Because we don't even know if there are more Oathgate spren? Because you want to get to a place to set up an Oathgate? Because it might have a lower Stormlight cost?
  25. Roshars FTL imo will likely have to do with mechanized Elsecalling. Move the ship into Shadesmar, skip all the empty spaces and presto! Effectively FTL travel.
