  1. Now I will get confused when I re-read Warbreaker
  2. I could definitely see that being useful for field medicine. Kaladin would be able to cauterize hella wounds.
  3. Yes, I know what it can do. I was merely stating that someone being a Firesoul wouldn't really upset people in terms of too many characters being too powerful. The powers of a Firesoul are cool, but in terms of combat or stuff like that its not useful. In terms of self preservation and survival it is pretty cool. Someone earlier said that they wouldn't want Aradel to have magic because he is supposed to be a normal (not overly powered) Governor. My point was that being a Firesoul wouldn't make that much of a difference.
  4. What can a Firesoul even do? Obviously I know what it does, but I feel like its on par with being a duralamin gnat, you can't really do much with it, so basically he is still normal.
  5. Yeah, I agree that its probably just a red herring, and I'm sorry for being "that sharder" who over speculates on potential magic users. It was just burning in my mind and this is my only outlet to talk about the cosmere. Also, just thought it would be cool to see some different types of ferrings that aren't super powerful or involved with the main plot line. Question: Are people with Terris blood considered to be noble/privileged bloodline? If not, then Aradel being a ferring would not undermine the whole "first governor who's not a noble".
  6. I was just re-reading shadows of self and a part stuck out to me. When Marasi is talking to Aradel in the constables office or whatever you call it, it mentions that Aradel takes a sip of something extremely hot and doesn't even care. It also mentions that he is known to do this. Could Claude Aradel be a Firesoul?
  7. I think its a love hate thing, more of a sexual tension than anything born out of love. Its like they both despise each other, which makes it wrong for them to be together, which makes it dirty if they did...Romeo and Juliet anyone?
  8. Yes, she is a main character in White Sand.
  9. I agree with the tooth idea, that seems to be the only reasonable way to always be ready to have some cadmium in any situation.
  10. hmmmm, that is both good and bad. Good because the best relationships are based off of a solid friendship. I always found it to be quite silly to start "dating" someone, or asking someone to be your significant other if you barely know each other. Bad because if you make a move and you are denied, it could tarnish the friendship. V-day is coming up, you could be her secret admirer. Then if/when she tells you that she has a secret admirer you could subtly gauge her reaction of it. There are many ways to go about this, and you must find your own path, but this way is good because you both can kind of talk about it without having to literally talk about it. Or you could play the nice guy card like I do, and just be there for her whenever she needs, talk to her on the phone at night, try to hang out with just her, until she realized what she has in front of her. It takes a long time, and the process can be hurtful to you, but that's what I always did.
  11. I would say that it all depends on the person that you like. Does this person like you back? Are you friends already? Is it someone who doesn't know you exist? Are you friends with their friends? (so you can tease out some tips) How much do you know about this person? That is one way to think about it. Another, much easier way to think about it is: It doesn't matter what you say. There isn't some magical sentence that will get them to like you. All you can do is put yourself out there, the worst thing that could happen is they say no. I dated 3 girls in highschool, 1 of which lasted 7 years, and i thought each of them was "the one". Now I am engaged to a wonderful women who I met in the town where I work. So basically, just go talk to the person, the rest of your life does not depend on this. Just make sure to be yourself because it is not fun trying to make yourself into someone that they like, you will be unhappy, and if they don't like you for who you are, then they can eat chull dung.
  12. Also, how do people pronounce Elend and Elendel? The splintercast lady says it very different than I do. I pronounce Elend: the letter L + end. Elendel: the letter L + end + the letter L.
  13. If you check Hoid's page on the coppermind it mentions what he was doing on Sel.
  14. So my fiancée is a 2nd grade teacher, and one of her naughty students is named Montane. So obviously I had to ask her if she has ever said "Silence, Montane!" I laughed, she looked at me confused, it was great.
  15. I agree, it could mean nothing and be unimportant. I just thought it would be fun to see what people could come up with as far as theories are concerned, I like reading what people have to say about anything cosmere. Just some food for thought for interested sharders. But I will be keeping in mind that it could be unimportant and mean nothing.
  16. Hahahaha omgosh, I'm so sorry. My mind is all over the place and I thought we were talking about Shallan. Ignore what I said!
  17. When I ordered my 10th Anniversary Elantris book, I decided to ask a question that has been bothering me ever since I read TWoK. Why would the Parshendi order the assassination of King Gavilar just after they signed a treaty? Yes yes, I know that there is an in-book explanation that Gavilar shared with the Parshendi leaders that he was basically trying to bring the Parshendi gods back and they didn't want that. So I used this opportunity to directly ask Brandon what has been nagging at me: Who was holding Szeth's oathstone when he was ordered to assasinate King Gavilar? Immediately after I submitted my order, I started worrying that I didn't word it right and that I might get back the answer of "Parshendi". In the end, I did not get the answer that I wanted, because I did not get an answer. I received a big ol' R.A.F.O., which is bittersweet. Basically what this tells me is that what is told to us in the book, might not be what actually happened. Was a Kandra impersonating one of the Parshendi leaders? If so, why? Sharders, theorize!
  18. Kaladin calls her a lighteyes on many occasions, that's all I know -- Edit -- Ignore this comment
  19. I guess I don't understand this 10 upvote cap. Does that mean I only have 10 upvotes to give ever, or 10 upvotes to give per post, or per person?
  20. I always thought of the Unkalaki as Pacific Island type people, mostly because of the fact that the main Unkalai we know is named Rock (who is big and muscular), which reminds me of "The Rock", and he is descendant from Pacific Islanders I believe.
  21. The only one I can answer is about color. The Tears of Edgli are dyes made from flowers, those dyes are what they use to color everything. Since the Tears are the liquid form of investiture, the color is drained when it is used up. I'm certain someone else could explain it much better than I could.
  22. I split it up into the size of the books/series: Big series Big Standalone Short Story/Novella For Example: Stormlight Archive Books 1-2 (lots of cosmere information, but its all over your head at the moment) Warbreaker (good to read right after stormlight, you will have some lightbulb moments) Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (very good short story, and it doesn't really talk about cosmere wide stuff, so its good to read before getting through the main bulk) Mistborn Era 1 (too many good things to say, enjoy) Elantris (now that you are fully hooked, you can read elantris, a strange book, weirdly paced, but with your burgeoning knowledge of cosmere works you will be hungry for every piece of this giant puzzle) The Emperor's soul (short story on the same planet, after slogging through elantris this story is a nice easy read, lots of cosmere stuff, very cool characters and story) Reckoners Series (its a nice break) White Sand (more lightbulb moments, holy crap I loved this story. its unpolished, but it gets you emotionally involved) Sixth of Dusk (one of my favorite stories. there's a lot of "what the hell is going on", a really good message, and some foreshadowing (pastshadowing?)) Mistborn (cowboys + steampunk + magic + Sazed is still cool) rinse repeat
