  1. soooo, did this ever happen, is there a centralized location of the WoB?
  2. Question 3: Where did the Shards’ “thoughts and personalities” come from? Well…if the Power didn’t initially have a personality until it attached itself to the Shards, then it must have picked up personality from the Shards themselves. This is consistent with Brandon’s comment that a Shard’s personality “’filters’” the exercise of its mandate (intent). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I thought there was a common agreement that the shard (the thing that Sazed picked up) Ruin didn't have thoughts and personalities until Ati picked it up. The person who picks up the shard is what gives the shard thoughts and personalities that filter the shards original intent/mandate. 1 The shard is synonymous with it's power. The power is the shard, the shard is the power. 2 The shard/power is mindless on its own 3 Someone comes along and picks up the shard 4 The thoughts and personalty of the person who picked up the shard filters what they can do with it. 5 The shard/power has a list of things it is capable of doing, but when a person is holding the shard it is more dependent on what the person thinks they can do with the shard/power. 6 Over time the person and the shard become more of a single entity, and the person can no longer have as much influence on what they can do with it (quotes about when vin and sazed initially picked up the shard(s) they were able to do more things than they would have been able to had they held the shard for say 100 years.)
  3. They only contradict each other when they are apart. Together, they are a perfect match and work well together. Opposites attract, yin and yang, all that good stuff.
  4. Just finished HoA for the second time. One of the quotes from Sazed is that Ruin's intent ("mandate") is change, which is why it is balanced with Preservation.
  5. Haha yes I have heard that phrase, I just haven't heard of anyone in the Sanderverse consider that the Endowment Shard referred to bewbs and/or shafts.
  6. HAHAHAHAHA omg that is fantastic (I used to be a programmer, and I still deal with project managers)
  7. That's not the exact quote I'm thinking of, but I found another discussion where the person is making the same claim that I am, but they also cannot find the quote. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/3377-theory-devotion-dominion-and-convergence/
  8. Good points. I remembered reading a WoB that mentioned how they "meshed" together after they splintered, and that might be why shadesmar is kinda funky around Sel. I wish i could find that quote.
  9. I've never heard of Endowment referring to body shape. I have always thought it involved gifting something, you endow something with your breath. Devotion & Dominion Devotion was held by Aona, so its pretty safe to assume that the Aons in AonDor were "Created" by Devotion (Aona), not Dominion. What we currently know about the magic system on Sel is only post Odium's visit. Supposedly the magic worked very differently before Devotion and Dominion were splintered, and after the splintering they kinda meshed together to form AonDor. Odium If odium is intensity, couldn't he intensify relationships between people, or create an intense feeling of love??? You make it sound like Odium is a Rioter from Scadrial, able to intensify emotions, which includes all emotions (positive emotions). I agree that Odium isn't inherently evil. Just like a robot programmed to do evil isn't actually evil, the programmer is. Odium is doing what Odium is supposed to be doing, which is good. I think this will eventually get pretty philosophical, the nature of good and evil. The fact that without evil, there is no good. Without Odium, life would be purty boring...Crises precipitate change, change is necessary for the continuation of humanity, so Odium is seen as good from the perspective. Another point that hatred isn't necessarily evil either. I hate mosquitoes, but I don't think that makes me evil. You can hate someone that is a very bad person, and then that hatred could be seen as good. In any case, there is more going on with Odium that we have yet to discover Interesting viewpoints, I like.
  10. Cap is a synonym of hat. I think it could be some Sanderson foreshadowing, but too soon to tell, i think.
  11. "Devotion and Dominon are Intents that work well together, so they meshed and formed only the one system. (The planet, interestingly enough, decided to make a bunch of sub-systems for different areas though.)" I'm pretty sure that Sel's magic was very different a long time ago. Odium came to Sel and shattered both of the shards, and then the shards meshed together to form what we now know as Elantrian magics. This is very different than what happened on Scadrial (R & P weren't shattered and then meshed together). I'm not saying that your theory is incorrect, its just harder to say anything definite about Dev & Dom's meshing, because we don't know what they were like before they were shattered by Odium.
  12. Pewter does enhance your eyes, it makes them stronger, so they don't explode from acceleration when you do a duralumin steel push. Tin enhances how the inside of your body processes information gathered from the outside world. Like for smartphones, pewter would be a shiny new ultra-protective case with shock-absorbers, and Tin would be like beefing up the processor speed/adding more processors.
  13. Can I join the August 1st generation? I would like to be: Therin of House Telamon "The Wheel of Time and the wheel of a man's life turn alike without pity or mercy" "Take what you can have. Rejoice in what you can save, and do not mourn your losses too long"
  14. its like pewter
  15. How do fluids/gases/not solid objects act with time bubbles. Like if you were in a room where there was fire everywhere. Since fire isn't really a "thing", so it doesn't really see itself as a single object....my brain hurts
  16. my head hurts when i start thinking too much about the time related metals.
  17. It could be like burning Pewter. For example, when Vin burns duralamin and steel, she needed to burn pewter as well to keep her body intact. Maybe shardplate acts like pewter, strengthening everything about a person, allowing their bodies to deal with extreme accelerations.
