[Calamity spoilers] Calamity reactions thread
The Sovereign replied to Voidus's topic in The Reckoners
So I finished last night, honestly, not great. As many of you said, it felt really rushed at the end. Also it seemed a bit like a forced happy ending where I think the overarching story didn't really call for one. It would have felt more appropriate if things remained bad but with glimmers of actual hope for improvement. Rather than pseudo bike riding lessons... A couple of notes; Also (Major Calamity spoiler): Finally, -
You're being tedious at this point . I suppose you could argue that everything we know about the Cosmere, WoBs included could be wrong because Brandon could just be like nah, tricked you... but I highly doubt that is the case. Based on the established rules of Awakening you need to speak a clear command in your native language (unless you have the 10th heightening and can then do it mentally) and have a clear intent to give a command. Since Nightblood cannot speak (and does not have the 10th Heightening) and and probably cannot form a clear enough intent for the process then he cannot pass his breaths to another.
-
He cannot give his breaths away. It would be impossible for him to give a command (which at its base giving your breaths away is a command). He would need the 10th heightening as his command would need to be mental (since he cannot speak).
-
Nightblood is a Type IV BioChromatic entity; an awakened object with sentience. Lifeless on the other hand are Type II BioChromatic Entities; Awakened mindless deceased bodies. Sentient awakenings can not have their breath recalled.

And lets not even get started on the rumors of the fabled Empirium....

Brandon has answered this question. They do not need Ruin's investiture. Ruin made Hemalurgy open to anyone because he doesn't care who causes the entropy a long as it makes things decay.

Welcome mate, that's funny, I actually made a very similar joke on my introduction thread when I first joined. Have an upvote.

I'd actually disagree with you. In BOM Wax's makes mental notes about the warmth of burning steel and how it is comforting to him and even helps him clear his mind from pain and/or distractions, that sounds exactly like somthing that someone who has an addiction might say while partaking in their addiction. Also we have seen several times that Wax can do things like float in mid air by Steel pushing, something that someone like Zane needed the aid of a Hemalurgic Steel spike to achieve. This level of skill suggests that he may indeed by a savant.

Aslydin- the mysterious worldhopping Terriswoman?
The Sovereign replied to Pinnacle-Ferring's topic in Mistborn
This has been theorized and is most likely correct. As far as I know, the last time someone asked Brandon directly they got RAFO'd. -
For sharing a brain with Twi.

[Secret History, Mistborn, Stormlight Spoilers] Leras's Knife
The Sovereign replied to stormlore's topic in Mistborn
You are correct DreamEternal, I just looked it up she is less sure than I remembered. For posterity, the quote is as follows: -
Nitpicking is good, no offense taken . Too true about the German names. Regarding Marshal, you are correct the French name (and it is an old one at that) is Maréchal, but if I remember correctly, Marshal with 1 'L" is an English derivative of the French name referring to Horse-tenders. Marshall with 2 L's on the other hands is a derivative from Scottish roots.

[SH spoilers] New Vessel for Elantris Shards?
The Sovereign replied to VirtuousTraveller's topic in Mistborn
The short answer is yes, they can be "reforged" but I suspect the mixing of the splintered shards and the fact that their power resides in the Cognitive Realm rather than the Spiritual Realm would complicate the process. Relevent WoB: -
It is unlikely that it is a nickname. Most of the names in Mistborn are of French origin and "Marshal" is a traditional French name.
-
I think you could make the case that the Aluminum hats used to stop emotional Allomancy could be used as evidence that you are correct.
-
I stand completely corrected. Thanks Blaze :-) Upvote for you senor.

Technically, I don't think we know for sure that he has awakened metal. It is strongly implied that Shashara awakened Nightblood.

Just a warning, I would be careful with copyrights and such. It might be wise to reach out to Peter Ahlstrom before preceeding.- 22 replies

Avatars for shard holders, is it possible?
The Sovereign replied to Cinder's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is not something that we have ever had 100% confirmed as far as I know. Best I can tell, a Vessel's body is more or less in cold storage in the Cognitive Realm and would be released back into the Physical Realm upon their death. -

As I mentioned early in this thread, Investiture interferes with Investiture so it is extremely unlikely that Nightblood is an awakened dead Shardblade. Even dead, a Shardblade is very invested... I suspect awakening one would take quite a bit more than a 1000 breaths.

It should also be noted that Kriss also says that Ruin is trying to splinter Preservation but clearly doesn't know what he is doing after Kel desribes Leras' state to her.
