Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
The Sovereign replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I hadn't read Retail in a while and just now caught up... Lord Ruler I needed more Lunker in my life... -
Argent, I'm having trouble finding the WOB (I don't think it is on Theoryland...) but I am positive Brandon has answered this question. If I remember correctly (and I'm moderately sure I do) Brandon said that Vasher has experimented with Awakening using Stormlight but was having difficulties making it work. My business is my own mate...
-
Meh, to each their own I suppose. I'm the polar opposite here, I'd rather play against optimized (relatively) decks and have more competitive games. Personally I find casual Magic pretty boring. Even in EDH I'd rather play competitive 1v1 games than multiplayer with relatively casual decks.
-
You bring up a good point here, Brandon does like to have fun with us. I'm pretty sure he gives us some answers just to make us squirm...
-
For the sake of the devil's advocate, the simplest answer is often correct: Would it not make more sense for the two dead men, leaving the pit with a heart in their hands to refer to Shallan and Kaladin leaving the Chasm with the Chasmfiend's gemheart in hands after being assumed as dead? Edit: Double Ninja'd, wow, Mobile you are failing me... Edit 2: Regarding the "True Glory" Kaladin is surrounded by Glory Spren when he informs Dalinar that he has returned Shallan alive and well.
-
Relevant WoB: It should be noted that Stormlight also healed Renarin's eyes. I think the logical leap can be made that his vision wasn't always impaired. If it were, he probably would have viewed wearing glasses as his normality and his vision likely would not have healed.

Not for nothing, but I feel like if your movie title starts with "The Princess..." and then is not immediately followed by the word "Bride" then something has gone awry. Basically: -
Atium is a hell of a metal...

Twi, Just remember, the key to adulting by yourself is that no one is good at adulting we all just fake it. You'll be fine, enjoy your freedom. -

Congrats on finally get out Twi, New Orleans (or "Nor-lins" as you will quickly find out) is a really fun city. With that said, I'll just leave this here... -
Yeah, going by how Wizards has been historically over-reactive when dealing with Modern's BR list I would say both will be banned. Regarding play Eldrazi yesterday, I just played in a local weekly Modern. 16 players 5 rounds of swiss, no cut to top x. I played against: Burn, Jund x2, Collective Company, and Grixis. I won all 2-0 and never even felt challenged. I also played a few fun games of the mirror against the other guy playing Eldrazi, he went 4-1.The deck just seems insane. You don't really have any truly bad match-ups. I was barely needing to sideboard. One note I made throughout the tournament was that Endless One just seems like the worst card. It can be nuts with Eldrazi Mimic but overall it is a bit clunky and often irrelevant or a win more. I found myself siding it out for more Wail's and Phyrexian Revolker in a lot of matchups.
-
I played Modern last night for the first time since Splinter Twin got banned. I tested out the Eldrazi Aggro deck to see what the hype is about.... Holy crap that deck is overpowered in Modern, every game I won convincingly and it never felt close. I predict by the next update to the Banned/Restricted list we will see Eldrazi Temple and maybe Eye of Ugin banned.

We don't really know anything about Aona and Skai's relationship with each other. For all we know, they were lovers.

Chaotic Evil could probably be filled by Mraize. As for Hoid, I'd probably align him as Chaotic Neutral. Taravangian is definitely Lawful Evil.

In Legacy or Vintage? In Vintage I have Storm sleeved up so I just ignore Dredge since I'm faster and outside of Cabal Therapy you can't interact with me and even then I can just use a Draw 7 and not care about the disruption anymore. But, in Legacy I currently have Canadian Threshold (or RUG Delver if you prefer) sleeved up so Dredge is a bit of a nightmare... I was on Miracles for years which has a decent to good Dredge matchup but I've shelved it for a little while just to change things up. I may be going back though if the Eldrazi deck gets as popular as I think it might (Miracles smashes it...).

Wow, I have read WoR like 10 times now and I never picked up on this even though I have combed through pretty thoroughly for things just like this. I am picking up a signed/personalized copy of Alloy of Law to complete my Mistborn collection I guess I know what I am asking about now! Excellent catch!

I agree with you mate. And not for nothing but outside of the first 200 pages of EotW and the Faile-Shaido stuff the series really isn't all that slow moving, there is just a LOT going on.
-
With this specifically, you and I agree completely. As I said, I think Mitosis has an important role in the Reckonersverse lore and this is why. Regarding, adoring it from the first page to the last, well, you can't win 'em all. That'll likely be the only Pony post I ever make but, I think I can do it this once in your honor.

Kobold, you're not going to like this... While I think your point is not only valid, I think it is correct. The events of Mitosis did indeed seem to be the greatest achievement of the Reckoners (well except perhaps {MAJOR CALAMITY SPOILER} ). And I do think that Mitosis has an important place in the lore of the Reckonersverse, I just didn't think Mitosis was that good of a novella. At its base, I found it rather boring. The only enjoyment I got out of the entire thing was Abraham's reaction to a Chicago Dog.

4x Weakness to electric? No problem: -
Slater, I didn't appreciate your post nearly as much as I should have back when you made it. After just going through the whole thread from page 1 to page 64, I now do. My mind has expanded. Understanding blossomed. Glorious. As Sazed feels the tugs of Preservation and Ruin I feel the tugs of the upvote quota. I find it difficult to act. I doled out missed upvotes where I felt they were completely necessary but for the most part I had to just let the thread live its life undisturbed.

Don't get me wrong, I find the idea of him being elected terrifying too. But, I also find horrific car accidents terrifying, it doesn't stop me for wanting to get a look... On that note I find the idea of Hillary getting elected terrifying as well, but for completely different reasons (specifically, the precedent of if you are rich and connected enough you can commit well documented treason and not only not go to jail, but also be president). Go Bernie, I suppose.
