  1. My Shard status has been revoked???!! Oh no! Now I have to scam more upvotes from people to reclaim my title! Time to start up another pyramid scheme... Where was that Adonalsium Endowment Enterprises form again? Maybe I can just edit it a bit and no one will notice. Hey, it's worked on all my scholarship essays...
  2. Quick! Must find another link! Windrunner's video is down! *scrambles across google frantically* Curses. No luck!
  3. I'm reading Homestuck again. Dang it. I thought I was over this obsession and then my sister starts reading and it all comes back in full force! And just in time for posts with crazy shipping updates! HUSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!
  4. Zas, did you mean to say Kaladin there? Because, while I'm sure running bridges does prepare you for death, I don't think that's what you meant. My evil plan to infect the posts of others with my fangirlness is slowly coming to fruition...
  5. Your English is great, Francois! Much better than my French, I'm sure! Sorry about any strangeness! Tu aimes parler anglais et français? Avez-you tried parler Frenglish? (ou franglais, je suppose) It est assez amusant in a so-bad-c'est-bon kind of façon. (Pretty sure you can't use 'façon' like that, but who cares). Speaking franglais is plus facille que typing it, je peux tell you that! Ow. That hurts to read. I'm sorry. And I'm sorry for all you Google translators putting every other word through. Actually. No I'm not. MWAHAHAH!
  6. A Brandon-written, Kelsier v. Moiraine write-up? Yes please! Also, even though I found Brandon through WoT, I'm rooting more for Kelsier! Though I think I trust his opinion so much that I'll probably just vote for which ever one wins the fight. Or just Kelsier. Because, you know... Kelsier. Fiiiiine. I'm a fangirl. I admit it. If Kaladin ever enters the cagematch I'm done for.
  7. I would like to announce that since posting in French in the Welcome boards, I reaaaaaaallllyy want Fils des Brumes (Mistborn in French). Rawr. The free Amazon chapters are not enough. Any Europeans feel like mailing me a copy? Also, WoK needs to be translated into French nao kthxbai. I am waaaay too obsessed with WoK for there not to be a French version. Le Façon des Rois anyone? Tome 1 de l'Archive de la Lumière d'Orage? Note to self: Don't become a translator. Those French titles are super awkward!
  8. Oui. I guess I should have known about the toaster, but really, it's not my fault there was snow!
  9. TGFGT. <<Palindrome The Vorin religion approves! /reading too much WoK
  10. Ah, I keep coming to these rounds just a little too late to vote for them! Dang. Oh well, Kel and Moraine seem to be doing fine without me. Has anyone else been following Kylar Stern? I just started reading his trilogy and now I'm reading his matchups. It helps that his author is writing them! His fight against Harry Potter was hilarious!
  11. I love this thread. It is just so awesome. Also, BBC has corrupted me and I cannot read the name Merlin without seeing Colin Morgan's adorkable Merlin smile.
Et ça me vexe. Je suis désolée si j'ai manqué un accent. Les claviers americains sont très bêtes. Il faut que je vole mes accents des autres. Zut, Shiver. Je dois le faire. I mean, who knew that shaving cream was so flammable?
  13. I have lost my ability to can't. All of my feels. All of them. This is just... Ahh! How do you do emotions?? I'm so freaking excited!!
  14. I just love everything about Brandon's writing. His characters are awesome, his magic systems are intriguing, his plots broadside me everytime, his worlds are beautiful and intricate, and there's just a depth to everything that you don't get from many authors. That's what I thought just from reading Mistborn back when I was first introduced to Brandon. Then I find out about The Cosmere and I remember thinking "And I thought just Mistborn alone was deep and intricate?" Brandon's work inspires me to write. Sometimes I get disheartened - because let's face it, I'm not anywhere close to that good - but then I read some of his earlier unpublished stuff and I get hopeful. The most inspirational author I know had humble beginnings too. Once upon a time, he was a not-so-great writer just like me. His early stuff wasn't awesome, but he kept at it. He didn't just pick up a pen and write my favorite books of all time, it took practice and patience and tons of drafts. Reading those early works makes me believe that if I just keep at it, maybe I could one day get published, maybe one day I could come close to being as good as him. Maybe one day I'll inspire someone as much as he's inspired me. That's why I read Brandon's works.
  15. I don't even remember how I stumbled on to these, but I've been listening to and all day. I'll spare y'all the embeds since I'm sure quite a few of the members around here have heard them already. Edit: Learn to spell before posting, Feather. Are you trying to type like Roxy?
  16. I would like to announce that I just got my first downvotes. Sadness. Apparently someone didn't like that I used to be a Twilight fan. Two someones in fact. I'm reformed, I swear! I've seen The Light! (Funny, Wheel of Time was the series that pulled me out! Thank The Light indeed!)
  17. All black. It's slimming and sinister! Would you rather only be able to tell cruel lies and have everyone believe you, or only be able to tell the truth and have no one believe you?
  18. Eragon, so much for me. Eragon was my first real obession back in 4th grade. My friends and I acted out scenes on the playground and I regularly used the Ancient language. But Eldest was so bluh that I didn't even read the last two. Maximum Ride still hurts. The first three are so awesome, and still some of my favorite books of all time. But from The Final Warning on? It's like badly written save-the-planet fanfiction. But published. With the author's name on it. Uuuuuuggggggghhhhhh. I nearly cried after reading The Final Warning it was so bad. I felt like I'd been betrayed, that someone had taken these awesome characters that I loved and raped their personalities and plots. Uuuugggggggghhhhh again. I've also been regularly dissapointed by quite a few YA novels. The Mortal Instruments and its spin-off The Infernal Devices for one. I read Incarceron and was dissapointed, never picked up Saphique. There's more but I can't really remember all of them. I tend to forget things I don't like. RE: The Hunger Games I was a fan of the series, and I'm planning on going to the midnight premiere and enjoying myself thouroughly, but I have to say Farla's "Let's Read" of the series was incredibly enlightening. She picks apart quite a bit of what's wrong with the series and it's incredibly entertaining to read. I'd encourage both fans and haters of the series to check her out. Here's the first chapter: http://farla.livejournal.com/274937.html And here's the rest: http://farla.livejournal.com/?skip=20&tag=hunger%20games
  19. @ Emeralis Well, I did pothole to TvTropes. And that's like the 8th deadly sin. But thank you!
  20. Link, that seriously blew my mind. If these posts weren't timestamped, I totally would have thought you made it up.
  21. Am I the only one worried that Hussie's about to drop twelve new trolls on us? Like the ancestors while they're not the ancestors? Though that does leave me confused as to who uu and UU might be, because they don't seem to fit any of the ancestors we know so far. Also, what is up with this intermission? Oh, Hussie. Sometimes I don't understand you at all.
  22. If you run in front of a car, you'll get tired, but if you run behind a car you'll get exhausted.
  23. Kaurne, you missing the shardblade makes me feel better! Haha, just kidding.
  24. I just finished The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks and started The Shadow's Edge last night. They're pretty good, and I'm looking forward to rooting for Kylar in the Suvudu cage match. They're not my favorite books every, but they're certainly readable. It reminds me a bit of Mistborn where Kylar/Azoth=Vin and Durzo=Kelsier, what with the rescuing a young kid from the streets and training them to be an awesome assassin. *glare from Kylar and Durzo* Sorry, wetboy. Anyway, the climax confused me a bit, but I figured out what was going on. Also, I wanted to slap Kylar silly when he went all snarky during the final battle. Pet peeve: non-snarky characters suddenly getting sarcasm skills when trapped by the bad guy. Especially since Kylar then talked about how hard it was to think when he was so scared. I was practically yelling "THEN HOW ARE YOU SO SARCASTIC?? YOU HAVEN'T BEEN SARCASTIC ALL BOOK AND NOW YOU PULL IT OUT??" I mean, if he was Shallan or something I could understand it, but not Kylar. I'm hoping the rest of the series will be better, but this one was pretty good.
  25. Ah, the cage match looks like it's going to be good, even though I only know a few of the characters. Kel (duh), Saphira, Harry Potter, the Wicked Witch, Moiraine, Naomi Novik's Napoleon, Tarzan, and Kylar Stern (and I'm really just started the Night Angel trilogy, so I don't know how well I really know Kylar. For reference, I still kinda think of him as Azoth...) Not many out of a cast of 64, but It looks interesting!
