  1. I suppose I have a couple. Inability to Bleed I have tried to donate blood on a couple of occasions and it always happens the same way. First the doctor will look at my arms, rub them, make a confused face because he can't find any veins, and then call another doctor over so they can both marvel at how weird it is that I don't have any veins. After a few minutes of this, they will decide that "Maybe that might be a little vein, and hey it could work, so let's try that". At which point they stick me, and like two drops of blood come out and then stop in the little tube thing. There was one time that I had to give blood for a test, so they stuck me three times (twice in one arm, once in the other) then told me to drink like six gallons of water and come back the next day. Even then, they had to use a kid's needle and only got the bag like half full. Keeping Track of Time I'm usually able to know what time it is within five or ten minutes. Even when I'm asleep. If I set my alarm for 7:30, I'll wake up at 7:20 and turn the alarm off so it doesn't wake anyone up. Language Mixing English is my first language, but when I'm tired or uncomfortable (like too hot or cold) I'll lapse into French. I have a problem switching out of French as well, so after that class I often keep speaking it until someone in my next class points it out. I also dream in French sometimes.
  2. I like that pin idea Eero! That's awesome! And for all of those who think being spiked by the staff wouldn't be so bad, let me just remind you: Only the staff get to keep their spikes. For us lowly members of the forum, we get to keep our spike for a few seconds before Chaos rips it out of our hearts to bestow our powers upon the others. It's really not all that fun at all.
  3. Makes me wonder, if an Aluminum Gnat were somehow to figure out that they had an allomantic power, could they use it? Like if they ingested Allomantic pewter, could they burn it off with Alumnium even though they can't sense the pewter?
  4. I've had a couple of mistborn/Brandon themed dreams. One that I remember specifically was that Brandon was in town and I had to do all sorts of silly chores in order to be able to go, and it was rather stressful to try to get all of them done before he left. I've only had one lucid dream before. For a little while I just sat there thinking about how cool it was that I knew nothing was real. Then I jumped off a building.
  5. Back on topic, I like the idea that Tan was a Slider, but I think Necronos is right. Wax probably would have recognized it. Unless, A.) Tan moved slowly within the bubble so as not to blur from the outside and just used the extra time to be precise, or B.) Wax was too devestated by what happened to Lessie to mention it. He certainly didn't seem all that bewildered by it. I mean we never hear him wondering how Tan did it, he's just surprised that it happened. EDIT: Had to put periods after the letters so the B.) doesn't turn into a
  6. Gah! Where did I get the idea that Endowment was a girl? Has that been confirmed one way or another? Also, Sazed is totally the one sitting in the corner with a glue gun trying to put it all back together, but he's only got two pieces. Sazed: If we don't get this thing back together, Hoid's wife will never make us waffles again!
  7. So does anyone here read any of the Homestuck AU's? I've been following Marchingstuck, Promstuck, and John Egbert and the Goblet of Sick Fires for a while. Also, please tell me that I'm not the only one who spends way too much time looking up dumb fan videos on youtube. Like this one. Or this one:
  8. Yeah, my personal theory was that most of the earrings are just symbolic, but Sazed can send his kandra out to give a hemalurgic earring to the people, like Wax, whom he can see will be important in the future.
  9. Yeah, the epilogue had me stumped as well. At first I thought it was Atium, but Atium doesn't have a double ring. Would all of the alloys have their own symbol? Also, I love the new designs for the symbols. It looks very clean to have removed most of the spikes and replaced them with dashes.
  10. I have a feeling that because Atium is Marsh's source of immortality, he wouldn't be burning it up in duralumin flashes anytime soon. Especially since there's not a way to get more now.
  11. That was one of the things that inspired me to come up with the theory in the first place. Even though lots of my tenants have been proved wrong or unlikely, I still like the idea that there are 10 splinters of Honor with individual aspects.
  12. I did finish the story though, I should probably upload that here. (Though there's actually 5 parts, not four. I miscalculated)
  13. Whew! I'm at 16,117! I'm keeping up but just barely!
  14. I love that picture! It looks great (and the Homestuck kids and trolls were cute too!)
  15. I lately finished the latest Heroes of Olympus book, The Son of Neptune. I'm really liking this series. I was afraid it was going to be another let's-write-more-books-because-I-like-money sellout, *cough*MaximumRide*cough*, but Riordan has done very well in making this series intriguing and unique.
  16. Wow. I totally just came to this board to start a homestuck thread, and lo and behold, there's already one here. I just read it a few weeks ago and I'm glad I'm caught up now. I don't know about cosplaying though. I've never been to a con or cosplayed before. 1F 1 D1D THOUGH, 1'D PROB4BLY H4V3 TO P1CK MY P4TRON TROLL, T3R3Z1. And the EOA blew my mind. Seriously.
  17. I feel like having a weak spike might affect the connection somewhat. We know that the number of spikes is a factor when talking about control, (Kandra were most resistant, while Inquisitors never stood a chance) and I feel like the ability to control would be linked to the ability to talk to. Eh, on second thought, maybe not. Ruin was able to talk to Vin pretty clearly, even through she only had an earring. Maybe I'm crazy and this whole post should be ignored...
  18. Yeah, I don't feel like Saze is the kind of person who would kill someone just to get one of his agents in place. I'm thinking either he died of natural causes, and Sazed with his future seeing abilities, knew that that would happen and got a kandra there to capitalize on the opportunity.
  19. Wow, I just came back to this thread after actually reading the book and I think it's so cool how people picked up on the relationship storing Feruchemy. Now that we've got the Ars Arcanum out, I'd say it's a safe bet that this was a Connecter Ferring, who stores relationships with others in Duralumin. Very interesting...
  20. It's bronze, though it's not because the power it stole was bronze. Bronze is the metal used to steal all Allomantic mental metals, so you could just as easily steal a Smoker, Rioter, or Soother's powers with a bronze spike. Vin's earring also used to be silver plated, but she said that it had long since worn off.
  21. Hmm, I hadn't considered that there might be different places for the spikes depending on whether one was granting the ability or augmenting an existing ability. That's an interesting point. I personally don't think Wax's earring is Vin's but I am pretty sure it's hemalurgic. I got the feeling in the book that the kandra often give actual hemalurgic spikes to followers of the Path that Sazed tells them to, and Wax isn't quite as unique as you're assuming. These spikes are probably just there for communication and I doubt they carry Allomantic powers. It seems more likely that they'd carry something more mundane, like Mental or Emotional Fortitude, in the way of the Kandra blessings.
  22. For those who really catch the reference, way back in the first book, Marsh's nickname was Ironeyes waaaaaaayy before he became an Inquisitor. It turned out to be somewhat of a prophetic nickname.
  23. I noticed while the sample chapters were coming out, although I was guessing that something having to do with a moon would go on. Even though Scadrial doesn't have a moon, I was kind of hoping that they'd get one by the end of the book. Oh well.
  24. Yeah, I have a feeling there's a way to use Hemalurgy that's not quite so gruesome. Precision is probably the key here. In Mistborn, they're trying to do delicate spiritual surgery with a butcher's knife, when what they need is a lot more experience and a scalpel. Either that, or hemalurgy could be used to take the powers of someone who was either dying or at the end of their life. A way to recycle powers if you will. This could be how Allomancy would be able to last until the next Mistborn trilogies, unless Sazed decides to provide Lerasium instead to reboot the genetic lines. Also, I've wondered, it's said that you can only steal one of a mistborn's powers when you killed them with a spike. But what if more than one spike was used to kill them, all of them stabbed simultaniously at different points in their body. Ooh, creepy. Now I'm imagining like inquisitor tables covered with spikes lined up in the right pattern. All you'd have to do was push the poor mistborn down and charge all the spikes simultaniously.
  25. Yeah, Wispy, I came to that conclusion too. Preservation talks to allomancers, Ruin talks to hemalurgists, Harmony can talk to both. I'm thinking that because Wax has both when wearing his earring, this double connection could be how Harmony can read his mind.
