Suicide (sorry)
-
Heh, yep, you were correct. Of course, it does kinda have to do with the material still, since something once sentient wouldn't work for a Type 4, but it's not the organic/non-organic boundary you were correcting, much more cognitive or spiritually based I would assume.
-
Interesting, I didn't remember that reference at all.
-
Are they the original settlers of the Forest of Hell? Can't recall.
-
Sorry, organic was the wrong word. Something that was once a living body wouldn't work, though, such as a human or animal body, or it seems even just significant parts of them like the skeletons. I don't believe you'd be able to make a Nightblood squirrel, for instance, only a Lifeless squirrel like Vasher does. Straw should work fine, I would assume. EDIT: I guess the best classification is that Type II were once sentient and then awakened with sentience, while Type IV were never sentient, but are after they are awakened.
-
It's from Vasher explaining the types to Vivenna. Type Two are “Mindless Manifestations in a Deceased Host”: Lifeless. Because they were once alive, they're easier to Awaken, easier than something in the shape of a person but that was never alive. He doesn't specifically tell her about Type Four entities (and in fact tells her not to ask again), but she fairly correctly describes it: “Is there a way to create an Awakened object with sentience? Like a Returned, but inside of something other than a human body?”
-
It's actually a combination. A Type IV is a Sentient non-organic Awakened entity, i.e. something that was never alive. The bones in Kalad's Phantoms were the cheat, since they were once alive, making them a Type II entity instead of Type IV, and thus much easier to Awaken.

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart set down his ale and stomped outside rapidly when he heard the shouts. Outside, he found that Locke had collapsed on the street, unconscious and unmoving. He helped some of the others carry him to a bed, hoping they hadn't lost another town member. As he came back downstairs, he found Mr Hoid yawning widely as he shook off his "nap". Remart shook his head. Even he couldn't sleep that long. Oh well, the man was up now, and he'd keep an eye on him. Speaking of...where was that insane guy who claimed to be a Mistborn? Remart didn't believe him for an instant, but the man had not only piqued his interest, but had been making himself very suspicious lately. He headed off in search of him, hoping to get him to explain his actions. For the record, that's a vote on Stink, and a very sad farewell to @OrlokTsubodai. Take care of yourself, please!- 1403 replies

The Principles of Soulcasting Immunity and Stick
Jondesu replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I've been thinking about that one for a while, and I'm convinced it's because she was still believing her own lie about not being bonded to a spren. When she began to summon Pattern, she acknowledged his existence in a tangible way, which rebuilt their bond enough for her to Soulcast.- 27 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Glad to see we didn't lose anyone to the Elims this cycle, especially since Joe was confirmed already. Joe, I know I'm gathering some suspicion, but I'm still not 100% sure why (unless I've just forgotten, which I'm prone to sometimes). Let me know your reasoning so I can respond, though, if you still suspect me once you finish reading the posts. EDIT: I've had a lot of focus on RP in the other game, and I've let this one slack off a bit too much. I'll find something for Remart to do once he gets some breakfast.- 1403 replies

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Jondesu replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Kintas had steadied himself after arriving on the floor of the chasm and waited for the others to join up. He listened carefully to Ranatar's plan, but looking at the sword he'd brought with him, he realized that not only would it be entirely inadequate to pierce even the softest part of the greatshell's chitin, he was more likely to injure himself or someone trying to do so, especially with his limited experience with the weapon. Instead, he found a spot nearby where he could remain partially hidden as the others charged, and be prepared to pull injured people out of the way, or if the opportunity presented itself, do some damage. He had a number of Breaths in a sash wrapped around his chest inside his tunic, but he couldn't see any way that Awakening anything would help them, not yet at least. As the others charged, he stared in shock as several of them ended up atop the huge beast, hanging on its back, legs, or even its head, doing whatever damage they could. Mostly their weapons were ineffective at first, but gradually some of them found chinks in the creature's armor, and one of the Initiates even managed to place an arrow into one of it's eyes. Enraged, the beast threw itself around the chasm, slamming into the walls in an attempt to dislodge the pesky creatures (ants, indeed!) that had swarmed it, and did more damage to itself than they had inflicted on their own, trapping a leg and stunning itself when large outcroppings of rock fell on top of it. He nearly ran in to help Hithon, the blind man who had run in among the first group, but dropped back into position when he realized his help wasn't needed. Thus, he was still ready and waiting when Other was flung down and nearly trampled by the greatshell. Kintas saw his skin and his wounds glow briefly, and then fade out, with blood still pooling from him. The man was out of Stormlight, and it didn't look like he was going anywhere on his own without it. Kintas took off at a sprint, dodging a massive claw that swiped at him, and skidded to a stop beside the injured Initiate. He whipped one of his pouches of spheres out and held it close. "Breath, man, breath! Don't let Captain storming Kaladin have the pleasure of watching you die." Uther sucked in the Stormlight from the spheres greedily, his skin beginning to glow again and light shining from his wounds and then fading as they resealed. Kintas dragged him back from the action further to give him a chance to recover, and stayed next to him while he watched for any other opportunities to help. As promised, medical support provided by Kintas. To respond to a few of those asking about me, I did go ahead and claim villager a couple times, mostly just offhandedly referring to it as opposed to previous games. If anyone had ever played with me IRL, I like doing that, no matter which team I'm on, so don't take it as a sign of anything. I did it some in the previous games I've played, I think, though admittedly not as thickly laid on early as this game. It just got stuck in my head a bit so I repeated it in a few places, including my PM with Doc. Also, Doc, now that I'm up and functioning a bit better, I'll send you the names I calculated had not gained Honor that first cycle, and I have to count up the latest ones too. I suspect there's some differences simply in what each of us decided sufficed for discussion, which is up to Aman's discretion in the end, so our reckoning may never be exact. -

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!

So I was singing at church today (up front, I'm part of the worship team every few weeks or so), and just about the beginning of the first service, I started feeling extremely nauseous. Almost regurgitated in my mouth a little. Had to get through both services like that, though I managed to run go get a ginger ale to help, and then came home and slept for about 6 hours. Still not feeling quite right. -

I've been sleeping off sickness today, so Kintas' contribution to the great shell hunt will be in hindsight unless someone else uses him. He'll probably have hung back and been providing medical support. -

Yeah, I'm finding my attempts at analysis end up being futile. I can gather data and present it, but actually learning from it seems to not be clicking so far. I wasn't feeling the Assassin lynch, though, but there didn't seem to be another viable lynch, so I left my vote on Araris, which I admit was not based on that much. I'd like to see some analysis from others to compare to what I can come up with on my own. Anyone want me to assess people's activity/inactivity again for the last few rounds, or did that not help others?- 1403 replies

No time for RP now or until probably tomorrow afternoon, so I'll join in the fight as I can. Feel free to have Kintas join the fight with you, but know that he's not much of a fighter. After the rule clarification, I agree that we shouldn't execute Ashetvl. How do I retract that, though? Green would be a pardon, which I don't want either (she should remain in jail obviously). I guess this: Ashetvl -

@Drake Marshall, quotes aren't working right for me, but I chose to have Kintas get hurt both because he's not really a Radiant yet (Kaladin had been working with Syl and using Stormlight for a while before we saw that, while we don't even have spren yet, which was an interesting choice on Aman's part) and because I recalled the scene during the 4-on-1 duel when Kaladin lashed himself into the guy's back. He broke his legs then, and they knit themselves back together. Granted, he was intentionally not holding a lot of Stormlight so he didn't glow, but still, I figured it seemed appropriate for an Initiate, especially one with no experience in this sort of thing, like Kintas. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Jondesu replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It seems counterproductive to keep inactive players around, so while I think Aman said we only need a majority of the free players when voting, I'd still favor going ahead and executing Ashetvl (AliasSheep) today since they said they were dropping out, and interrogating Veriq (Quiver) to remove them from the free player list as well. I'll switch that vote if someone gains suspicion in my opinion, but for now I doubt I'll have enough to go on for anything else. I'll try to respond to the criticism of my vote yesterday soon, though I've responded already to much of it. Sorry, guess I'm just not going to win when it comes to day 1 lynches, since I don't like them, but either voting without reason (which is all that's possible) or not voting gets me flak, so I'm kinda stuck there. -

Just pretty much snapped my big toe nail in half today. Folded straight up into the air. I hit it on a step that I didn't realize was so close as I turned around. -

Kintas watched with a calm detachment as Kaladin pushed Ranatar off the cliff. Kaladin was, he knew now, a sociopath. Inside, of course, he was screaming. Colors, the man will kill us all! What in the name of the Iridescent Tones did he do that for! He stared along with the others as Ranatar fell, expecting to hear a squishy thud and then nothing. Instead, Ranatar called back up to them. “I’m okay!” He shouted up to the rest of the initiates. “Make sure you’ve got at least an emerald broam’s worth of stormlight before making the jump!” Kintas knew he had a good bit more than that. He'd swapped out the spheres that had gone dun since he arrived for freshly charged ones in the highstorm yesterday, at a very reasonable rate because of his status as an Initiate. Seemed some of the merchants at least were interested in ingratiating themselves to the new Radiants. He patted his pockets holding the spheres with their precious Stormlight, reassuring himself that they were secure. Then, before Kaladin could reach him and send him flying off in a painful and uncontrollable fall, he stepped off the edge himself. As he began to fall, he reached out and touched the chasm wall with one hand. He had no chance of grabbing onto handholds, but he let his hand try to catch onto ridges, slowing him slightly as he fell. His hand screamed in pain as it tore and then healed as he breathed in his Stormlight, but when he reached the bottom, he was going slightly slower than terminal velocity. It didn't help. He hit the ground with a sickening crack, trying to roll as he'd learned was best during a long fall, but failing pretty miserably. He'd never anticipated having to actually use that particular skill. He was a scholar, after all, not a soldier or adventurer. Well, he was now, it seemed. His broken legs reknit themselves as he breathed in again, using up more of his store of Stormlight, but bringing sweet relief from the pain. The memory of the pain would be slower to fade, but now he could rise to his feet and stagger over to Ranatar's side, away from where the other Initiates would be falling. Okay, so now we know the minimum Honor needed to bond a spren is 3, probably 4, although some spren likely cost more. I wonder if multiple people tried to bond the same spren and only two got them, or if only two spren were satisfied with 3-4 Honor? And @randuir, I'm very annoyed you got to the RP first, I wanted Kaladin to push me off. That's okay, though, I think I may like this approach better. -

I feel like crem today on so many fronts. In addition to being physically exhausted and my head feeling like it's splitting open (more than usual), my mind is going into overdrive trying to figure out if I ruined a 17 year friendship with a Facebook message that was interpreted wrong, feeling completely inadequate due to my inability to do anything useful around my house (I went to the store briefly, and came back regretting even that much physical activity, and then slept for I think 4 hours), and then having to decide we needed to tell my parents not to come to my son's birthday party tomorrow because my sister (who still lives with them) has the flu. It's the right decision, but I'm simultaneously feeling bad about having to say it, and preparing to haul off and punch my dad in the face if he tries to come anyways, since he's a stubborn chullhat. All that means I've been wiped out physically, mentally, and emotionally all day long, including some tears and a lot of trying to play games to distract myself, with very limited success. Edit: I got a response from my friend who just hadn't had access to Messenger and was very supportive, so no friendship ruined, and my dad didn't try to show up today for the party. -

Kintas wasn't one to fear many things, at least not things he hadn't studied enough to know were appropriate to fear. At the look in Hashiv's eyes, and the way he fled from the spheres, though, he backed down the hallway and fled. This wasn't…this wasn't right. Could He be here? The One Who Hates, right here in our midst? Okay, so I don't know if it'd be a good idea to publicly post my list of who did and didn't earn Honor yesterday (there's some grey areas because Aman gets to decide what counts as discussion, and because I didn't actually run word counts on the RP, though I think I'm at least mostly correct), but by my count, we have 5 players who didn't earn Honor last night, while half of us got the full 2 possible for the cycle. Those who continue to earn at a pace of 2 per cycle will be far more likely to be able to bond a spren early, which is good to know, though obviously it doesn't directly tell us alignments. I'm debating whether to actually share my list with anyone, maybe via PM, just in case, or to compare with someone else keeping track, but I wanted to let ya'll know I actually did track it last cycle.
