  1. I think this was mentioned earlier about how long she can store Stormlight here is the quote from Edgedancer.
  2. Ok so Lightsongs voice did change right? I just re-listened to Warbreaker before OB (man I love that book) and I thought I remembered his voice being like almost suffer dude'ish then this time around it wasn't. I thought I was imaging this from the first time I listened to it.. Yeah I agree. Kate and Michael, Simon Vance and Tim Reynolds are my favorite. Good narrators really make an Audio Book,.
  3. Those Polish ones are cool but also completely random lol.
  4. Oh man the multiple parts thing was such a PIA. I wish they could have at least corresponded with the parts in the book but I guess it didn't make much sense to do that since the part lengths in the books are so varied it wouldn't help with the file size. I also wish whispersync was enabled since I often go back and forth between the audio book and ebook especially if there is something I want to read for clarification. Other than that I liked it and thought Michael and Kate did a good job. I agree there were some things that could be tightened up. Michael has a way of making scenes a lot more emotional than my headcannon voice so he got some crys out of me. I also like Michael's Nightblood voice a lot more than the narrator for Warbreaker. All in all pretty good and I will enjoy re-listening to it. @Ookla the Hatter OMG the Sadeas thing drives me crazy too! They are married and literally record in the same house you'd think they can make sure they say the name the same.
  5. Good call. My gut tells me it is something like this due to Brandon's response.
  6. Sorry not understanding your point. If they didnt serve a purpose beyond utilitarian wouldn’t repairing them also not fix the fabrial? @Espella yep totally agree. It’s kinda what I assumed too but that super-big just seems like it’s more. Also as a side note kinda cool we got confirmation Nightblood’s sheath is aluminum.
  7. As described in WoR Seems almost opposite. But then again Kaladin could be mistaking a necklace for a chain somepeople call necklaces chains. I assumed the chains on Soulcasters were more utilitarian as in only really meant to hold the fabrial on someone’s hand not in itself anything really magical or special but I may be offbased on this.
  8. I was reading through the interview questions and saw this WoB: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/176-oathbringer-chicago-signing/#e8501 I remember reading this part and wondering what it was but then seeing that WoB has me a lot more curious. Here is the scene from OB: I saw someone say in one of the part reaction threads that this could be Adolin’s mother’s chain but Adolin was there shopping with Kaladin I’d be surprised if he hadn’t seen it too. Do we know what this is? I’m guessing maybe an Easter egg from one of the unpublished books I either haven’t read or missed.
  9. Ah I may check this out. I have all of Brandon's books on Audible (great to prevent road rage) but have never tried the GA mainly because they are so expensive. I have listened to audio books of Dune and Hyperion that has a similar set up with multiple voice actors and it does really almost turn the book into a movie.
  10. ^^Yeah Kaladin was weird for me in this book and didnt even make my list. He had some great moments but he is really feeling repetitive. I still like him and think he will be better going forward but I think this book did not paint him in the best light. Shallan is even wielder for me. I really liked her in WoR and even the first part of this book then agin felt a little repetitive and I feel like by the end she made progress but a small step. Both of these character just seem to pail in comparison with the character growth we see in Dalinar, Adolin, Szeth, Renarin and Elhokar (R.I.P.). Oh and the only thing better than the Szeth/Nightblood duo is the Szeth/Nightblood/Lift trio. Of course the Dalinar/Lift duo is pretty good to.
  11. Necessity is the mother of invention and I am guessing the spren came up with it to protect their bonded humans. Heralds are immortal so it was probably not seen as a necessity.
  12. In the context of that entire scene she is "calming her nerves" even before plate is mentioned so I think all of this is because of her hang up on her shardblade and talking about it with Adolin. This is pretty early on. I do not see any proof at all she has plate from this.
  13. Thanks I’ve been meaning to check out the Culture Series. I tried Expanse but couldn’t get into it.
  14. I’m in the mood for some sci-fi anyone have any good recommendations?
  15. I wouldn’t say disappointed but that was the slowest part to me with it speeding up at the end. I think a lot of people felt the Shadesmar part was the slowest but I didn’t compared to most of the Kholinar scenes.
  16. Torol Sadeas was a snappy dresser. My mom told me if you cant say anything nice don't say anything at all. Words to live by.
  17. Yeah but he says "other ways" which is plural so killing the KR is not the only way at least that is how I read it. Plus the WoB eludes to this as well. No idea what that is and yeah some of the KR would have sworn the 5th Ideal but not all. Which I wonder how many "full" KR are around. I am sure it is different for orders but Nale made it sound like not many Skybreakers were at the 5th level (maybe just him)? I dunno maybe this was the only way. Seems harsh like killing your dog.
  18. I felt like OB really explored and developed a lot of different characters so it is hard to say which is my absolute favorite. During my initial read I would have said Adolin he was pretty uninteresting and kind of one dimensional to me through the first two books but really shone in OB to me. On my second read though I have to give it to Dalinar. His arc was just too good. I always kinda liked him but his story was the highlight of this book for sure. Other characters I really liked Jasnah -She was just so Jasnah. All of Bridge 4- I know a lot of them have been fan favorites going in to this book but this was the first time they really got to shine for me. Elhokar- I was completely indifferent regarding him before this book and Brandon got me to like him just in time to kill him off. Szeth/Nightblood- I mean do I really need to say anything? Lift- I want to adopt her as my daughter.
  19. I read part one as the released chapters on Tor so it seemed slow I completely agree with @Ammanas that the first two books started off pretty slow especially tWoK and this one somewhat follows suit. I will say that the ends of the parts do pick up the pace a bit and boy almost all of part 5 is full throttle. There are for sure some peaks and valleys but as a whole I didn't feel like the book seemed slow and in fact felt like I needed to sorta catch my breath a few times which the slower pacing helped with. I think you will like part 2 so keep trucking! Oh and one more note going in to this I was not really thrilled about it being Dalinar's book but wow by the end...
  20. It’s also in OB the Captan of the Homorspren ship tells Kaladin there are ways to severe the bond without killing the spren assuming the final ideal has not been spoken or along those lines.
  21. Even if the Spren agree to it willingly to save the world in the past that doesn't mean they would be ok with repeating this in the present. Especially with their diminished numbers currently. Still does not make sense to me with the current explanation is why they had to kill their spren. We know there are ways to release them as long as the KR has not spoken their final ideal and presumable at least a decent portion would not be at this level yet.
  22. Geez Brandon is on a real multiple personalities kick. Man this one is perplexing. How did Hoid get to Obrodai?
  23. In this particular case it wouldn't matter since Nale was both Herald and Member of the order.
  24. Yeah that is why I feel like there has to be more. Sure I get the shock of finding out that you are the bad guys and your god is telling you that you will destroy your world would be pretty strong motivation to not want to use surges anymore but kill your bonded spren as well? Oh and this was motivation enough justification for EVERYONE except the Skybreakers. Now @Ookla the Effervescent mentioned about the shattering of the plains as catalyst makes more sense since they would have actually witnessed the destruction.
