  1. That's a great WoB! There have been some really good questions on the tour and the new Arcanum makes it so easy yo read them all. The thing that has bothered me about all this is one particular WoB https://wob.coppermind.net/events/188-general-reddit-2015/#e3922 I think though I have mistakingly taken "And as a side note, both of these strains of humanoids predate the ascension of Honor, Cultivation, and Odium." to mean on Roshar when I think he meant in the cosmere not specifically on Roshar. So I couldn't understand how the "human invaders" brought Odium if they predated his ascension. Edit: Just saw this WoB. Ok so this really sheds some light on the subject to me on the order of events. So humans arrive on Roshar but they didnt really bring Odium. I am wondering though when he says "he was instrumental in what happened there." does he mean Ashyn?
  2. Ok I will concede that this will more than likely just get blown over and everyone will accept Dalinar/Szeth mainly because this is seeming to be the norm with where Brandon is going but I don't have to like it
  3. A forum divided.. I'd say after further reflection the issue is these books are just so massive.. The format of the different parts make me feel like this is a collection of smaller stories. In the first two books the parts seemed to have a pretty cohesive flow as an ongoing continuation of an overall story but this one felt more segmented to me. So there were parts I thought that were the best writing Brandon has written so far while others fell a little short for me. I will say I appreciated the book as a whole more the second time around but this book felt a lot more loose than the previous two with some plot lines either not explored fully (to my satisfaction) or resolved in a somewhat underwhelming way. On the same hand some of the revelations in the book were almost overwhelming and completely unexpected this early on. Brandon does have an uncanny way of making me change my views and feelings of the characters from book to book which I think is done very much on purpose so I think some of the let down for people is how he changes our opinions sometimes of the characters we liked the most in previous books. There is a lot of limelight swapping going on and I can see how this can be frustrating to some. I'd say I would rate this book behind WoR but in front of tWoK.
  4. It was Alethi soldiers they fought against that Dalinar sent. We all know it was under Odium's control but I still think it will be difficult for the other leaders to trust Dalinar and his troops again. Azir and all the many kingdoms is a mess to say the least. Yeah they all kinda follow suit with Azir but all have their own motivations/concerns. Gawx is also pretty much just a figure head not sure Lift having his ear is enough. I doubt Kaladin's word would hold any weight with the other leaders he is Dalinar's man after all and no one even really knows who he is. Yep the perfect ruse stage the Assassin in White to attack his master and amazingly Dalinar was the only one to survive an attack.
  5. Haha yes he needs Olivia Pope stat!
  6. The Assassin in White was used to disrupt power and kill leaders in kingdoms. The main reason most of the countries were hesitant on Dalinar's coalition was his reputation as the Warloard Blackthorn and no one wanted his troops in their country. Now the coalition is in shambles because of the Dawnchant translation and Dalinar has the Assassin in White as his bodyguard . I think it is highly likely this will send the wrong message to the other leaders. I would think most would see this as he is abandoning diplomacy and going the other route. Mr T is really the only one that can disprove peoples suspicion that The Assassin in White hasn't always worked for Dalinar. It wouldn't be a far stretch for the other leaders to believe Dalinar had his own brother killed to be replaced with a puppet he could pull the strings on then sent the Assassin after other leaders. It is for sure a problem.
  7. Seems like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell hooking up to me.
  8. Great vid! That one reveal about a certain place surrounded by water blew my mind.
  9. I feel like it is his most unappreciated book and not sure why. I am eagerly looking forward to the day when there is a Nightblood status bar.
  10. @Ookla the Beardspren meant to say too that is an excellent point about the timeliness releasing of the sample chapters.
  11. I picture a cutscene at the end of SA 10 with Nightblood wearing a tiny construction helmet overseeing a factory of AI swords being made. Me too I'd even be willing to prolong MBE2 #4 if we could get Nightblood first. I feel like though at the earliest it will be before book 5 being Szeth's book it would fit in nicely.
  12. I REALLY want more Szeth/Nightblood/Lift that combo was both hilarious and a little dangerous all in one.
  13. I think that is fair since Aether itself is considered canon. Would be nice to know from Brandon if Dragonsteel (the item) is also canon.
  14. I was sure Azure would be a Stoneward and then the white on black comment was said and I immediately slapped my forehead saying "Azure". I actually do not think I would have caught it with just that reference if Vasher hadn't said it first.
  15. Yeah I was totally surprised to find out they are married. I mean how amazing is that.
  16. It was really rushed. I follow them on Facebook and I want to say they were still working on it in September/October. Edit: HAHHA So I was cleaning out some stuff the other day and found some old cassettes and my kids minds were blown. I showed them how to rewind it with a pencil.
  17. Hopefully someone will get her a book so she's armed.
  18. Nightblood's purpose on Roshar = Destroy Evil
  19. Yep these come out.
  20. Yep good call and good option except Adolin was shopping with Kaladin when he saw this. He didn’t like the price of the swords and bought the harpoons. Now I guess it’s possible Adolin didn’t see it but seems like he would the way it was displayed and had spren protecting it seems like a hard thing to overlook. Plus I kinda think Brandon wouldn’t have given such a big RAFO instead saying something like you’ve seen this before in the book.
  21. I think the only character he’s specifically called friend is Moash so he obviously has poor judgement and hangs out with a bad crowd.
  22. Wow and to think I was prepared to adopt her. I am not sure I could have a bacon hater under my roof though that is sacrilege... Of course I might be able to hide it from here in some of these bacon pancakes.
  23. Yeah and just the availability. As abundant as spheres are it is still a finite amount of stormlight until they are recharged with a storm. We saw where things got sketchy before the Highstorm early on and without Dalinar recharging everything during the battle they would have probably been toast. Lift just needs to find a loaf of bread and then game on. She even overcame Nale's Larkin drain which no one else would be able to do.
  24. I completely agree with this. Also I do not think this series is supposed to be like WoT where the entire saga basically revolves around Rand saving the world and I think a lot of people feel that is what Kaladin's role is supposed to be. Mainly I think because he is the first flashback character in a great first book. I was actually concerned that Kaladin would outshine Dalinar in this book and was pleasantly surprised that was not the case. I'm thinking this was said tongue in cheek and never a serious consideration.
