I agree I think Horneaters are probably just a little stronger than the pure human. A lot is probably due to their size. Not enough to pull a shardbow and if stormlight does not grant you great strength as has been suggested by Kaladin. I like the idea of Rock being a different KR order. What if he is a Stoneward and is using tension. I really do not fully understand tension except that is alters the stiffness of an object. Could this have been used to make it easier to draw? I think it would also be interesting character development for him to become a Stoneward as it seems like they were one of the orders more involved with fighting. Oh and his nickname is Rock foreshadow much Brandon?

I think he has an idea. This is from Kaladin's POV
-
Not sure if it is enough though to draw the Shardbow at least Kaladin doesn't think so.

Edgedancer! The questioner thought so as well.

Read it! It is one of the few books I re-read at least once a year sometimes twice. Completely stoked about the movie!

I liked it during my first read and even more in additional reads. I'll admit it is not SA or MB caliber but I think the magic system is really cool and I mean it has Nightblood. The only downside I felt was an ending that was not as tight as his other books clearly Brandon meant for there to be a sequel which has been a long time coming. I know others probably want Elantris sequel first but I really hope he does Nightblood (the book) first for reasons I wont mention in this forum. One thing I will say is it is even more enjoyable reading it with the annotations if you have not yet. It is really interesting peaking behind the curtain and getting a glimpse of Brandon's thought process.

Wow this one must have not left much of an impression on me because I totally forgot about this one until this thread.

Just as Ernest Cline let me down with his second book Andy Weir did as well with Artemis. I loved The Martian and was looking forward to his second book. The premise sounded good and the plot wasn't horrible but the characters.. Especially the main protagonist. She is a young women written like a 15 yea old boy. Just horrible and completely unbelievable. Mr. Weir clearly does not know how to write women. I think if he would have written the main protagonist as a man it would have helped but still not the level of quality The Martian was.Disappointed. I also read a Sci-Fi classic I've been meaning to for a while Rendezvous with Rama. It was good but one of those books you are supposed to draw your own conclusions from the ending. Not a bad thing but I typically like a little more resolution. I found out there is a sequel but apparently it is co-authored and has horrible reviews so I will stop her.

[OB] Adolin's sense of moral - Sadeas' murder
StormingTexan replied to insert_anagram_here's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah I don't get this either here is the retort. I do not understand why "not putting himself in danger" disproves a sense of morality. It is kinda like standing up to a bully who's picking on a kid and you are bigger than the bully. The moral thing to do is stand up to the bully because you can stop the situation. The immoral thing to do is walk away and not intervene in my opinion. Now if you are smaller than the bully and you intervene that is being courages or brave but it is amoral thing to do either way. So he is aware of what happening here will reach his father's ears. He probably did it to show off Kholin power and their ability of upholding the old ways. -
Just dropping this off as an additional resource

[OB] Who do you think the other Bondsmiths will be?
StormingTexan replied to teknopathetic's topic in Stormlight Archive
May Aladar will bond with the Sibli... JK I really like the idea of Navani bonding the Sibling. It just fits. No idea on the Nightwatcher. -
[OB] I Hate Moash for Giving the Bridge Four Salute
StormingTexan replied to NotBurtReynolds's topic in Stormlight Archive
I took it as an F U as well. Like I finally finished the job. Plus the Bridge 4 salute is the friendly finger from Friends. -
Sure does sound suspicious doesn't it. Change one letter in the name and you have Kalad.

[OB] Adolin's sense of moral - Sadeas' murder
StormingTexan replied to insert_anagram_here's topic in Stormlight Archive
So is a police officer killing a criminal who is an eminent threat to him or one of his fellow officers immoral? Now I guess it could be debated that Sadeas was not an eminent threat but I would argue he was even if his eventual attempt AGAIN to kill Dalinar (and possible Adolin) would again be hidden under subterfuge. -
Thinking about it I think Nale would be a bad example even if we had proof he does not need access to readily available stormlight since he is a Herald. This ability may be part of being a Herald there are a couple WoB that may imply this. Edit: Ninja'd above while searching for WoBs Edit again just found this WoB so sounds like Heralds would need access to Stormlight from gems now? Guessing this is because Honor is dead?
-
I started a thread about this after I saw the WoB pertaining to it. Someone speculated that it was pretty convenient that Dragonsteel chapters were released right before OB..

If he died who would be the Bondsmith? I think there will be some pretty significant plot lines going forward regarding the Bondsmith abilities. It has been alluded to that a Bondsmith is what caused the Listeners to change into Parshman and I think this may be re-visited at some point. Others disagree with me on this but I think Dalinar is going to have to do a little damage control to regain the trust of the coalition as well. Anyway I think there is still a lot more for Dalinar to do. I don't really get how killing him off once he comes to terms with his past helps the story. Plus we kinda got that already with Elhokar.

Same with Shallan she seems to learn how to make stormlight last longer as well learning the deal with tying an illusion to a sphere. That is a cool idea. In someways it parallels with the fact we do not seem to know how fussed get their voidlight.

[OB] Cosmere Crossovers, and the deal with Hoid
StormingTexan replied to Naerin's topic in Stormlight Archive
I kind of wish Brandon never said the thing about not needing know about the Cosmere to enjoy each series. I mean in a way it is true (although I'd argue you dont get the full extent of enjoyment if you don't) and I get he didn't want people to think they had to read every book to enjoy the individual series but it is also something people will constantly criticize as more is introduced. He should have left it as it is a story within the story and if you want to get to know more about it read all the books. The Cosmere is a thing. It will be in the stories and more so as we go. SA is a huge chunk of the Cosmere books so yeah there will be a lot of Hoid and such. Now I totally get if someone just doesn't like Hoid. I love him but he is like the crazy grandpa that shows up and tells some incoherent story while you are trying to watch the football game. There is all kinds of crazy stuff going on in SA is Hoid really any crazier? As far as Vivinna, Vasher and Nightblood go they are part of SA we just got to peep their backstory. I'll put it another way. Think about Elantris and the minuscule amount of Cosmere knowledge dropped there. If Brandon continued with that level no one would care about the Cosmere. It has been a gradual build in my opinion but it is and will continue to build. I had no idea after reading Mistborn Era1, AoL and Elantris that the Cosmere was a deal. I liked the books a lot and then read about it on his website and now I am a Cosmere junkie. I do not think it overshadows the main stories at all it simply gives us more to enjoy. /rant -
Yeah would be pretty sweet. I think this may be foreshadowing on how they will try to regain Kholinar or possible even go to the Horneater Peaks.
-
I'd just like to pat myself on the back that I called it on page one and not only that but called that we would only get confirmation from a WoB. Now I am never right about anything and that is the only reason I am bringing this up as it is my one and only correct guess.
-
Great.. Thanks guys you have spoiled the ending of SA. Vivenna will collect honorblades, awaken a chasmfiend, give it said honoblades and it will kill Odium..
-
Yeah I’m saying there could have still been 10 Heralds but each had all surges from each blade. So they were split up on purpose and each Herald given two surges very deliberately. Makes me think this may have been done on purpose to divide out the power and keep one Herald from being all powerful. Otherwise why limit them to two surges? There may be some mechanics preventing being able to bond a bunch of honorblades.
