[OB] Finished reading, felt a burning need to share my thoughts
Angsos replied to JasnahKholin's topic in Stormlight Archive
1. I think the journey will be very important but Jasnah's book is book 10 so who 2. I think there will be suspicion of Szeth but when armageddon comes, you save second thoughts for later 3. Taln is in no condition to help and Ash is, mostly whole. They might have been a case of too much to say and not enough space. We'll get more in Book 4 I'm sure. 4. I think the love triangle is in abayance but I don't think it's done. It got resolved fast because Shallan was strong enough to suppress Veil but it's not over. Until Shallan puts herself together, I don't think it will be. P.S. Welcome -
No, Harry Houdini was Hoid

I guess that makes sense about amaram and now she has Rock to thank. Going with the Ivory thing which seems more likely because of the amaram explanation. What if she was going to bond Ivory young but rather than just do it like Shallan, Jasnah told someone. That explanation was heard or overheard by someone who knew enough to realize it linked to the evil Radiants. She was locked away until she 'saw the light' and then was set free.

The scene with the thugs in Carbranth is where the speculation comes because she seems rather vehement about those men. At least in the audio version it sounded like it was much more than merely dislike of criminals

I don't think Brandon would go the Renarin is Odium's champion route because he has a corrupted and everyone is looking for him to go dark.
-
Perhaps it might help with Radiant and stop further dissolution. I don't see Veil going down without a fight though and she definitely won't want to do research, unless it's in a bar or back alley.

[OB] A question regarding timeline for the recreance
Angsos replied to lilyjab's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Nale and possible Ishar, though I know anything about him, may have made a deal with Odium or just resolved at some later date to pledge allegiance. -
Before Shallan can help Adolin with any research, she has to pull herself together because right now, the Shallan personality is a silly little. Veil and Radiant may be broken but they are the adults in the room and until the real Shallan takes them back, I don't see progress. Since Odium's champion was brought up, I could she Shallan becoming that because it's easy. Rather than continue to struggle to put herself back together, she could eventually give up and embrace Odium.

Maybe the 10 warlords, regents, whatever after succession wars(like Alexander the Great) had come to a balance and the crownlands was left over because no one wanted to start the wars again. Conversely, the crownland guy could have been like Alexander's general Ptolomy, content with Egypt and the land around. Hypatia, I think that just means Tanalon is the son of the guy dalinar killed the first time and that's also what the fallen king reference means.

Welcome to the forums and sounds like as good a theory about Hoid as any.

I forget, where did Vasher go, he may also have something to say. Isn't possible tukks was killed as someone who knew Kaladin too well?

Thank you

Stormfather also said the sibling has been hurt by humans and the gem archive says withdrawing so for these and other reasons the sibling was not an Odiumspren. It could a pre-Honor, Cultivation or Odium superspren.

Did brandon say something like Hoid isn't immortal, there's hijynx going on.

I thought I remembered something about Jasnah thinking was another oathgate there and she thought it destroyed. It was near the end of the book, I think Navani was talking.
-
There has to be a bond forming because he can hear her and she can talk. Other possibility is much like Oathbringer(the sword) she is reviving but she can talk to him alone and he hears her because he carries her for long and talks to her.

Don't forget, almost until the George R.R. Martin scene in Kholinar Elhokar was a bad king so could've knocked any plans Gavilar had off the rails

There has to be a bond forming if he can hear her.

[OB] Kaladin & Jasnah: the case for Political Marriage
Angsos replied to ZenBossanova's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah the bar to friendship or possibly more between Jasnah and Kaladin will him seeing Moash giving a Bridge 4 salute as he kills Elhokar right before he completes the first ideal. Jasnah might not find out since did anyone actually notice Kaladin freeze. On the point of Shallan, the Veil kaladin thing isn't over despite grudgingly complimenting adolin at the end -
[OB] A look into the names of the Unmade
Angsos replied to ScavellTane's topic in Stormlight Archive
sja-anat is definitely on the person side of the IQ chart because she's either smart enough to form a complicated trap or she really does want to defect and can successfully lie to Odium. In the audiobook, they don't pronounce the S so why sja-anat have that first letter then. -
The only way I see Shallan sorting herself out is an argument between two of her personalities, after all her mini-meltdowns in Kholinar didn't do it so I doubt anything less will. I don't think that will be skipped, something will happen though
-
I don't Shallan and heart to heart conversations are in the same universe yet so give it time. Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some kind of scene with Shallan and Veil arguing over her marriage.

My guess is the western crownlands were absorbed by princedoms or something and the eastern crownlands never got renamed. Also it was probably easier to leave the crownlands alone as long as they provided a product.

[OB] A question regarding timeline for the recreance
Angsos replied to lilyjab's topic in Stormlight Archive
Put more simply, after the last desolation, there was no more good vs. pure evil because it was all shades of grey. Rather than figure stuff out and try to fix it, they all did a collective Kaladin near the end of Part III and froze. Kaladin let Elhokar and all the men die because he couldn't make a choice and the KR killed their spren because couldn't figure stuff out.
