  1. Well the terms probably were derived from steel and iron, I'd reckon. Then the bronzepulse correlations were noticed and the terminology possibly expanded to describe the other metal pulses.
  2. Well, House Ladrian got a good reputation from the whole Counselor of Gods gig. Was Ladrian Breeze's first name or family name? I would have to assume it's his last name but wouldn't people notice his nobility?
  3. Btw, I just noticed the typo in the title and it bothers me . . .
  4. I mean, he's saying art also needs contrast, alongside two qualities that already contrast so much as to be complete opposites in any other circumstance. That definition of true art almost itself qualifies as art.
  5. Boldness and subtlety already contrast very greatly, so that's one heck of a self-descriptive definition.
  6. Huh. I stand corrected. It'd still be weird for that to be an actual feature of the partial divine breath oddity they have.
  7. Who knows. Besides you refusing to type the word "are" fully and making the paragraph painful to read there's not much reason to downvote this.
  8. Last 100 pages usually. Less for shorter works.
  9. Yeah, he was, but it's still a different sort of thing. Ars Arcana describes the surge of Illumination as being "closest to the original Yolish variant", so they definitely differ fundamentally somewhere to only be "close". I think painters and people who sketch and draw should be distinguished despite both fabricating images of things, no? We probably shouldn't lump all illusionists together even if they have the same name. It's about as fair as calling Seons and Spren collectively as just "Splinters" disregarding differences.
  10. Oh, we know that was lightweaving. It's just a different thing from a surgebinder's lightweaving. The term dates all the way back to Yolen.
  11. The Radiant order of Lightweavers and other surgebinders with their abilities is one thing. Hoid's is a completely different type of magic altogether. And Elantrians can generate illusions as well, but nobody calls them Lightweavers.
  12. Go to a mall. Soulcast all garbage in the trashcans to smoke, triggering the sprinklers. Soulcast the water to smoke too. Wasting water, and you didn't even burn anything.
  13. If the lerasium infusion is what causes natural mistborn then I guess the sum of the metals dividing the total power might make sense? Though TenSoon goes on about how the ancient mistborn threatened their people before the Contract, but never mentions soothers and rioters. Mistborn have a more dangerous reputation, but there's nothing a mistborn can do to harm them that emotional mistings can't . . . We should ask this in the ama or something.
  14. I find it hard to believe that the royal bloodline came about within literally one generation of Vo's Return though, when that guy died in one week. And such a specific quirk that depends entirely on social hierarchy screams of being cognitive or identity influenced rather than built into the breath fragment. Which matches how Returned shapeshifting works anyway. Who knows how a different Returned bloodline will work.
  15. When people tell you to stop restlessly pacing around in circles while thinking and you think "gotta stop inhaling my stormlight". That's how much I like WoK.
  16. The Returned children issue. Treledees would likely have royal locks if he was related to Vasher.
  17. He is said to use feruchemy to figure out where he needs to go to find important events happening.
  18. Which would mean Shallan was already living a lie before that fiasco. And Kaladin's life was possibly bad enough to him that he was already a tad cracked. Seems straightforward enough. There's no way to force investiture into a spiritweb without a gaping hole in it. Especially not a splinter's worth of investiture. Since when did Shallan become a reliable narrator anyway?
  19. Man, that's barely even 5% of the list of things you can be in the Cosmere, I reckon. Considering how the list of 3 only contains like 1.5 things. And that's just counting things that were originally human.
  20. Anybody born with Vin-levels of power probably can't be a misting to begin with. They'd be mistborn. There's a limit to how much power there can be born in a guy before they just plain start to accept all allomantic power manifestations at once.
  21. I swear I read something about it being extremely painful for an Inquisitor to burn their own spikes. Which would imply that you can burn metal inside you stomach or otherwise.
  22. The fact that the Stormfather is already bonded as of WoR?
  23. But now the flute of the Sliver of Infinity himself, strongest and probably only fully mistborn feruchemist to ever live, is probably buried in a pile of abandoned junk left behind in the warcamp somewhere while everyone leaves for Urithiru! What a waste. Besides, he has the moon sceptre too. For all we know the flute was useful for something before he gave it away.
  24. It's less that chull is a replacement swear, and more that the swear filter automatically turns [synonym of donkey] into chull.
  25. Well, if he had time to steal a lerasium bead he has time to steal flutes.
