You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
natc replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you start thinking how it'd be useful to be able to magically invoke genuine panic. -
Journey before Destination. We expect it. Seeing how it happens is what would make it epic.

Being light in one and dark in the other is genetic on Roshar, I'm pretty sure. No weirder than multicolored hair.

Because it just isn't wide enough to cut enough soul to matter. One chunk if the spleen being killed doesn't stop the soldier from killing another guy immediately, it only causes later (potentially lethal) complications. If you're sniping people off at range on the battlefield you want them to drop and stay down. The actual scenario is that you are better off with a shardboomerang being launched out of a giant slingshot of some sort. That can sweep entire rows of people through the spine.

Won't the arrow just pass through people without stopping? Rock can maybe pull it off but you basically need to headshot to do anything.

Just use a steel plate and cut the words in if you want to write. Stone works, but might as well make it Ruin-proof if you end up on Scadrial. You never know . . .

So basically everyone worships them like christ-figures, but ironically them descending upon the realm of mortals (to sound dramatic) is actually what makes everything go to hell? And they help fight back because it's really the least they can do to prevent the extinction of humanity? You could say that they aren't really Heralds of the Almighty, but Heralds of the Desolations?

So the skaa rebellion is going on all the while the 4 playee factions are going about their business. And you go around either garnering favor with TLR or do the opposite and help the rebellion. Or force others to do so? And who wins in the end entirely depends on whether ol' Rashek is still in power by then? Okay, that sounds like a fun recipe for mindscrew. If only I could get one

That one has nothing to do with either of those and everything to do with Scadrial itself.

Yet their social hierarchy puts warriors at the bottom, and as soon as you pick up a weapon you're screwed. How do they intend to take anything back by force O_O
-
A thought occurs to me. They say they will come to collect Szeth's blade if he dies, but nobody will just kill a shardbearer and leave the blade.Won't the shamans have to come out and take it by force?

Fourth oath of the windrunners (spoilers)
natc replied to Josiah Bills's topic in Stormlight Archive
"So the Night will reign, for the choice of honor is life." Honor as seen in the cosmere definitely never seems like it coincided with majority benefit. If a windrunner promises to protect someone they'd make enemies of the whole world to do so until the bitter end, even if the person by all logic should just die. In Kaladin's case he does actually have a duty he just abandoned, but if that's a problem for his oaths at all it would be because he had already taken on the responsibility of doing it before ditching it, not because it would benefit anyone. On the other hand, his hometown was a pretty terrible place to be even before, and now they have an Everstorm on the way. They're defenseless, and after failing Tien he has every right to go (he has permission for leave anyway). Of course, in light of his previous oath he'll have to save Roshone too. Minor details -
Regrowth would be useless if this was a thing.

The WoB implies electrum uses a similar mechanism to function as atium, so presumably atium can be considered a temporal metal still despite not being on the chart (definitely internal instead of external though). If atium extrapolates the most likely future from surrounding cognitive aspects, then electrum probably does so with your own. Gold probably . . . goes back through to a past state of your cognitive aspect and extrapolates the second most likely outcome (since the most likely is the one that already happened)? Maybe? With how Honor describes his future sight getting more inaccurate the farther he tries to see, I was always pretty sure that it is basically some form of probability-based extrapolation, which would become inaccurate as more variables that can't be accounted for presently pile up. The more interesting thing is that a duralumin burst of atium didn't seem to pass this supposed barrier and still only gave extreme future sight. It seems simply pouring more power in doesn't necessarily have the exact same effect as being able to utilize the power better.

There's also Meme: Skin Deep below. So I guess it stands for Legion? Maybe?

With a WoB like that, watch one of the characters be a descendant of Tanavast. *partially joking but wouldn't really mind*

World misconceptions that are difficult to shift.

Same, and I'm Asian myself The awkward moment when it's actually every other character that is Asian. -
On your opinion on Kelsier vs Inquisitor, the supernatural fights really only kick in at Words of Radiance. Way of Kings is much more "normal" because the extent of surgebinding in combat is just passive stormlight augmentation.

Making a bacon sub in the vacuum of space when you don't even have a body to try it with sounds terrible actually.

Everstorm summoning (with extra cosmere spoilers)

Roshar also has a correlation to vibrations/frequency, looking at all the cities whose natural foundations can be generated by cymatics. The Shattered Plains themselves. The entire Alethi script looking like something I'd read off of the readout of a seismograph or sound editing program. I believed that one vision of Kaladin riding the storm also had him see all the stormlight usage going on as light pulsations, but I forget if it's true. Haven't gotten to that part in my reread. -
One does not simply just execute someone without proper trial while trying to convince everyone else to obey the monarchy.

I spent a week in Yunan once. The kind of volunteering work that is perfectly normal in other countries but in China would get me arrested more likely than not There's really not enough air there. Got dragged into a 9km hike when I end up short of breath just by talking too much lungs hurt. I'm definitely an airsick lowlander -
It's probably hard to hide the Stormfather bond being broken, yes XD

Szeth says the gems and lashings interfere, but would a radiant even need the gems in the first place? Kaladin could power the helm he put on his hand using only himself.
