  1. If we take Szeth's word for everything then voidbringers retain stormlight perfectly and honorblades take 10 heartbeats to summon. Which are both entirely false. Szeth really isn't a world authority on surgebinding any more than Kelsier was on allomancy. Even Radiants leak like crazy due to being human. The glow alone says that much. In fact, Szeth doesn't glow as brightly as Kaladin, so presumably either he is leaking less stormlight, or something is using up the energy normally responsible for the passive glowing. Something Kaladin doesn't have, which might be the honorblade. As for the former possibility, he clearly depletes faster, so the reduced leaking would not be due to better retention regardless, but extra drain. Which comes back to the blade really. There is precedent in Nightblood for "artificial" shardblades requiring constant investiture drain when active so it's pretty plausible, though I guess we'll know when the details on Heralds come to light..
  2. This place is surely the local habitat of creationspren.
  3. All you need for double the surge strength is to use twice the stormlight. It hardly matters. One lashing will always be the same for the same person since it is exactly one iteration of the object's weight. To get double the effectiveness you use two lashings. The honorblade inefficiency more than overcomes any extra strength you get.
  4. They are mistwraiths, and the human attribute spikes actually grant them more humanity, unlike when human attribute spikes are applied to humans, where things like Koloss happen. Now I want to see a "koloss" made with something other than strength spikes. Some other human attribute I mean, not spikes of metallic arts, which just create relatively humanoid Inquisitors.
  5. The 17th Shard will not reimburse any Breath spent on awakening Lifeless threads.
  6. I don't see how giving an honorblade to a Radiant would be at all overpowered. Nothing that can accomplish that anyone else can't with more honorblades and more stormlight. As for Heralds, they're already blatantly immortal. Superhuman reflexes should probably be the last thing used to emphasize their inhuman nature.
  7. Plot Twist: All humans are actually Epics.
  8. Zuko and Kaladin? Let's give one more person a life changing field trip with Zuko! Toph can whine in the back. Also, Raava and Vaatu are totally spren. Look at that "We are bonded forever" scene.
  9. He is probably legally immune to that kind of reprisal at least, which is going to be a problem. We all know Sadeas had it coming to him and so do the other highprinces after the incident at the Tower, but you can't just walk up to someone, attack them, stab them to death in the eye, and just walk away like you didn't break a law somewhere. This kind of justice is the very kind that even the Herald of Justice himself would get pissed over. If Adolin ever becomes Radiant this will probably bite him in the backside unless he can get himself pardoned.
  10. We'd have more information to work with if someone made, say, kandra or Listener spikes. Maybe even dragon spikes. As it stands, all the spikes so far that have caused dehumanizing of humans are actually of human attributes, while allomantic and feruchemical spikes didn't have much effect. The violent inclination is probably more due to the power of Ruin than anything.
  11. It probably is, or they would do it more. Nobody promised anything about only having effective ideas here did they? It's already more lethal than what goes on in the Useless Uses for Useless Powers thread. On a different note, ShardTripwire.
  12. You can totally spike allomancy into cats even, mistwraiths just aren't human and wouldn't really be born with any powers humans can have. Heck, kandra carry two spikes minimum. They should be more invested than even normal people, much less drabs.
  13. There's cadmium and bendalloy I guess? The series is also eventually going to bring up the Bands of Mourning, which appear to be TLR's atium bracers. And some hints of hemalurgy coming up. That's after AoL though. Otherwise there's a kandra hidden somewhere for you to look for . . . and two returning characters. Kinda.
  14. Airstrikes: Radiant style. Fly a few hundred people over and then just drop their blades on everything.
  15. Yeah, I was referring to dead ones there. They're basically the "norm" right now with how few living blades exist. You can't summon multiple dead blades simultaneously, as that WoB says.
  16. Elantris Yeah, I'd say he likes unexpected heroes happening. I mean, look at the Hero of Ages (person, not the book).
  17. Don't think scaring Steelheart is actually possible.
  18. How does one burn a nonphysical deity? O_O
  19. Well clearly we have a Desolation upon us, so the Oathpact seems intact enough.
  20. I don't recall seeing more than one fake soulcaster tbh.
  21. So against a crazy megalomaniac who believes himself to be invincible shardblades do nothing? O_O Storming Epics . . .
  22. A normal pair of shardblades would indeed take 20 seconds to summon both, but the WoBs always implied the honorblade taking 10 heartbeats was all in Szeth's head. Plus they don't appear to be alive in the first place, so you can't really revive them.
  23. I'm not sure why they would even scream if there was no nahel bond to kill them over, if we're going with the plate being made of things like windspren and such.
